H3RESQ's Dream MJ, the build continues...

I feel ya. I feel lucky too. Kate is so great about my hobby's. I can not imagine not having a garage to work in. I am doing something for her though, I will not be doing any "fabrication" in our garage. Once you start cutting metal and welding etc. in a garage you can never really get it clean again. So, it will be bolt on only in the garage. I will just have to go to Wes's shop or some place when fabrication is needed. I hope to make the XJ bolt on except for the chassis stiffening anyway. -

I'm working on it. Notice the XJ in garage is starting to get tore apart. I will be pulling the Currie axles and Tera case out. I'm gonna add 2 low to the Tera and disc brakes to the rear of the Currie axles, clean everything up and start the XJ build up. Will be a couple weeks till I can start. -

Cool truck but the paint kills the flow of the body...

Sorry to disappoint... Yes! Love it... if a tire has raised white letters you just have to show them off! :clapping: Its all opinion, I just prefer to keep them out of view. The tire company is definitially not paying me or giving me a break to run there product, nor do the white letters stay white on my wheelers. Either way, looks good.

That sucks, but reality is that you made my point about old guys ;) I will get on both the pic of MJ with new wheels and a side by side. I have been busy with work, finding that XJ and doing research and ordering the parts I will be getting new for when I do axle/t-case swap and build on the 01 (disc brake conversion for rear 9inch/bumpers/skids/sliders all new). I have also been busy on my garage, making a storage space, that is also able to be closed off for my Airbrush painting I do, and also able to house the MJ so I have the 2 car bay available for parking and building the 01. Here are a couple pics of what I worked on all this morning. Its ready for wiring plugs, some in set lighting, and light switchs and then drywall. Hope to have it done for the most part by the end of the 3 day weekend so I can start the teardown of the 98 XJ... side view from 2 car side. View looking in from garage door side view from 2 car side. -
That is SICK!!

130k. and had military vet plates. Notice in pics only drivers seat has any wear. I'm thinking it was well cared for. It was at a dealership so I of course got nothing as far as records. Carfax shows 2 owners, 0 accidents. And had a very high "score". That said, I can tell the back passenger area was a repaint. You can see a little clear coat peel around side rear window and tape line in rear passenger door well. No visible damage under vehicle or any sign of repair to rig structure or unibody. Guessing (but you never know) old guy got into a parking lot fender bender or hit his garbage can....lol. -

Thank You! And I agree, it was exactly what I wanted. I almost pulled the trigger on a couple other XJ's. I am really glad I waited till I found the exact one I wanted. I was pretty set on SILVER and LIMITED and 2000/2001. I almost picked up a Silver Classic, and I heavily considered a white limited I came across. I am surprised how long this actually took to find. I started casually looking right after getting the built XJ, then with in about a week or two upped the search when I realized I just could not drive around a beat rig (and Kate just kept saying it didn't "fit me") I think this took a good month, month and half to find. I would have to look back to see when I bought Buffy. Either way, once you know what you want it seems like it takes FOREVER to find it. I'm pretty stoked on it. -
Nice! Wish I could have made it! I WILL see you the weekend after Labor day though! Cheers.

Ya...ABS will be gone with the Currie axles. Ya...I love the wheels. I had them on a classic I owned a few years back. Sadly, I am 5x5.5 when Curries go under it so they will have to go. I would love to see them on a 97+ converted MJ. They have fresh Goodyear Wranglers and the matching full size spare. The driver front is only one with curbing and its less than an inch long. They should be easy to sell... -
I live in Olympia, I DO NOT have testing here. What area are you looking to buy? Also, if you don't have testing were you live now, just keep it registered in that state and drive it out here. Should not be a problem if its registered in your state and you have an address there too.

Facctory heated seat switchs. Limiteds come with Heated leather power seats in the front along with the full length overhead console that has MPG etc in it. This one also has tow package that in 01 included 7 prong plug, and factory transmission cooler. This one also has full skid plate package. Also infinity sound that includes tweeters in corner of front window, look close in last picture.(although still just cassette). Also has lame wood trim and This one also has ABS :( -
Yup, that old AMC would be cool factor till you hit a hill out in the woods and it starts cutting out. It wouldn't be worth a propane swap or efi conversion. Oh and it will get about 12 mpg. 5.0, well maybe a brand new one, otherwise you still get maybe 16mpg. Also while there is aftermarket for the 5.0 it is not equal to a LS and specifically when it comes to putting it in a XJ/MJ. The LS is the one I see being easiest, most cost effective, has the best aftermarket support specific to this swap, and even with lift and tires (geared properly) you can expect over 20mpg out of the 5.3! The diesel, well good mpg, horrible niose, etc, etc. AND how bout the fact of the weight on your front end. I think people need to stop with the 4bt and man up and do a 3.0 CRD swap out of a Grand..or Benz. NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL!!!!

You might also check all your link bolts. Specifically the lowers at the frame. They might be moving back and forth a bit. You can usually have a second person grab each side of the tire and rock it slow and forceful front to rear. While there doing it watch all the link points and see if any shift. While your at it have them slowly and evenly steer it lock to lock and look at your track bar, tie rods, etc. and make sure that they are not shifting a little. Also watch your steering box, pitman arm (this may have the shaft going south) This will also give you a chance to check the above comment about sway bar hitting coils. Hope this helps. 2 people can go a long way in figuring out a noise over 1

What's the info on the event.. Closed course? Trail runs..? You on pnwjeep? Meet and greet is coming up, sept 7. Get on there and get the info. http://comancheclub.com/topic/23468-don't-fear-the-jeeper/page-3 Its more of a show, but not just pretty Jeeps and Yota's. I think they will have a ramp, and they have awards and a big raffle. Last year they also had a DYNO, but not sure if they will since there moving to the bigger venue this year. Its actually about 4 years old and getting bigger each year quickly. I am not in PNWJEEP but will check there site out for the info. -
While I believe the 44/30 combo you have is worth $1200ish. I hate to say you probably will not get that for it. Simple fact is, if someone is keeping there 44/30 combo they are on a budget and probably can't pony up the $. If they do have the $ they will probably rather spend it upgrading the axles they have or building a 44 front. (especially considering how cheap you can get Rubi fronts for now) The rear 44 should be a easy sell, the front however is almost of no value since its a 30. Just is what it is. Rear..$500, front $300 (maybe $350-400 if you sleeved the axles and it has chromoly shafts, but you didn't mention those things)
