pulled off the 2.5" exhaust/home made mid pipe and 40 series flowmaster that kept rattling against the skidplate and put on a stock mid pipe and cat the scabbed on the xj catback with 50 series until i move the gas tank. alot more enjoyable to drive now

DrComanches Project "Frankenstein"
cody4359 replied to drcomanche's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
anything over 31" should have reinforcing or a brace. mine had 35", don't know how long they were on there but i found a small crack just above the steering box. threw a quick bead on it, made a inner steering box reinforcemnet plate and added a steering brace, i still have a "pop" sound at almost full lock and i thinks its in the rail, just can't find it.- 146 replies

rd30/rd100 ARB locker differences
cody4359 replied to cody4359's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
stopped by ARB headquarters today. they treat locals real good. found out that rd30 are 3 piece and rd100 are 2. also got my rd100 swapped out for a rebuilt one(all parts laying around from other lockers) for one hell of a deal. very impressed with their service and i bs'd with the tech while he was rebuilding it :D thinking of selling the 44 with e-locker and doing an ARB in the rear -
i don't think silicone will make it rain. water is wet can't get past it. when you add a sunvisor/moonvisor you put silicone on the self tapping screws, no different. paint can handle water and the silicone will keep it from getting to bare metal :D not saying its the best design, and a one piece setup would be stronger. there are 1x1 legs that attach to the unibody. with mine, i have 2 1x3 legs going from the slider to the unibody, I'm going to add a 3rd in the center, but was also thinking of adding a brace from the bed mount down the the end of the slider, these could probly use a brace like that. for my application where only the occasional tree or rock will be against it these would be fine. nobodys making you buy these, just saying they look cleaner than the ones ive built or any others that ive seen
-
why do we need lockers, big tires and ane everything else we put on?? just figured it was a unibody so anymore strength would be benifical, i realize its a bit stronger than a xj but whats the harm in beef

replaced old brake pedal with my 96 pedal so it fit the brake booster pushrod, then realised why the po had 3/4" of duct tape and weldeed a nut onto the new pedal so it woul contact the brake switch. not the prettiest but itll do for now

any members on here live close to Loomis,CA? ive emailed Dan Fredrickson at ruff stuff about making some mj stiffiners and his reply was the only reason he hasnt was because he hasnt had a comanche to take measurments off of. driving from WA to CA is a bit far for me ;) his xj stiffiners are reasonably priced so I'm assuming if he can get his own measurments to do some for the mj they wouldnt be too much more. hoping a member closer than me will be up to this

i see what your saying. the thread i found them on the guy put silicone around the bolt holes to keep the water out, and i assume you could put one sided adhesive tape onto the rockers so it wouldnt be metal to metal. i asked for a pic in use, but just like how clean they look
-
found these online. unfortunatley they are unavaliable right now but the look clean they were made by rock ratz

rd30/rd100 ARB locker differences
cody4359 replied to cody4359's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
just trying to figure out what i have. ive done a little research and seems that the rd30 is the orignal and the rd100 superceeds it and is a better design. if its the rd100 i will get it rebuilt (seems the cross pins for the spider gears had movement) and replace the detroit true track. thinking the best way will be to call ARB monday but any help would be appreciated. -
i have an arb air locker in my zj and i was thinking of putting it in the mj IF it was the rd100. i dropped the diff cover to look for a number but with it still in the axle the only # is found on the carrier was #05080813 I'm assuming this is the serial number. seeing as its the weekend are there any ways to tell which one it is?

Cone filter vs Swiss Cheese Stock Box with K&N
cody4359 replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i had the rusty's kit and felt nothing. i ended up putting the stock box on with an AFE filter and opening up the small rectangle hole in the front of the box for more airflow. i don't think you will get notociable power increase from either. even with the bored out throttle body and header/catback i didnt notice a huge increase. if its lifted and has bigger tires, gears in my opnion would be more useful than a bunch of small boltons. my 2ยข -
Comanche Seat Tracks - Found Aftermarket Supplier
cody4359 replied to BryGuy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
he emailed me pictures and i just deleted them a month or so ago, a wee bit of insight maybe. from what i rember they looked too short to be the entire bracket, more of an adapter for the corbeau seat to fit the factory bracket. i could be wrong tho. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=31465&hilit=corbeau+seat+brackets -
i had a chance to buy a ARB bumper on craigslisst for $350, shoulda done it just for the ease of not having to make one. looks good on there

can we just get rid of the signature, or not allow pics? i noticed a few members that have mutiple pics in their sig and a few others that state every little option the vehicle has in every vehicle they own. maybe just make it so your signature is just your build thread link? not pointing a finger (ok yes i am) but for example: Cascade 4x4s President WOHVA Treasurer and Secretary Wheelers of Washington 1988 MJ 231 Doubler TNT Long Arm Front Suspension SOA Rear 35" Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs Auburn ECTEDs Front and Rear Willy C's Bumpers Willy C's Taillight Boxes Warn M8000 1991 MJ 4.0 AW4 2WD 2006 3500 Ram 5.9 Cummins QC SRW 4x4 or.....
