Rocker switch question
fiatslug87 replied to 70barracuda's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, the rear sprayer switch is momentary. I think it’s actually a dual switch, momentary on one end and on at the other for the wiper. -
Automatic to manual swap info?

Look in here under transmissions. -
The 9th position is the check digit, 12-17 is the sequential number.

Nice. I just spent two days repotting all my VFTs, my American pitcher plants have started flowering but no traps yet and here’s a pic of my tropical pitcher plants in the greenhouse. sorry

I’m going to assume the front since the rear is fairly obvious. Get underneath and look forward in front of the tire, there should be a rubber splash guard. Pull it back from the supports then look into that spot, you should be able to see the upper bolt. There are two bolts per side going into the upper and lower lip of the bumper. The lower one is removed from the front under the bumper, if you have the plastic bumper pieces it’s the same bolt. Your vacuum canister is bolted to the right end of the bumper, unscrew it from the bottom so you don’t break the line.

But remember the lights above are just the lenses, no housings.

So tell me about California Smog Checks and Registration...

In the Renix system there is no CEL to illuminate before starting the engine. Trust me, I have three of these in CA, one since 1990. Here is the timer reset procedure. https://nickintimedesign.com/renix-emission-timer-teardown/ -

That info is from my ‘88’s smog testing. You might have to get a CARB compliant cat, I’ll see if the person I know that works at the DMV knows. The check engine light is nothing more than a timer for changing the O2 sensor, either pull the timer box (see picture) under the driver side dash or the bulb. There is no real check engine light in the Renix, your 2001 XJ has one. No codes are stored in the Renix, you should get a REM https://nickintimedesign.com to monitor real-time status. If you put it on non-operational status it must be stored off the street. -

Does it have a cat? For our year vehicles, the CA smog test measures Hydrocarbons (HC), Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen oxide (NO) emissions at 15 and 25 MPH. The gas cap is also tested to ensure it can hold pressure as is the whole evap. system by pressurizing the gas tank with nitrogen. The table below has the limits for HC/CO/NO highlighted for your 88. p.s. we would be neighbors!!! -
Congratulations! Have a happy life together and here’s the obligatory “May the Force be with you.”

The closest station (a Chevron I never go to) was 5.49 today, Costco was only 4.45 on Monday.
