  1. I love this MJ!! :chillin:
  2. I'd get a full floating D60. The shafts are sooo easy to change should you break one.
  3. If its a 1994 then its 27 spline. Not worth the swap. ;)
  4. So with the new CPS you must not be getting a spark. Do you need to test the truck wiring harness at operating temp, or the CPS at operating temp? If you need to do the CPS, why not stick it in an oven at ~150 degrees? Maybe you could try it with the old one to see if it was the problem. If it checks out ok, then its another problem.
  5. Very well said Eagle! Just to add...if your steering wheel is straight, and the pitman arm isnt...they could be out of adjustment by a large amount. After my 6.5" lift, I believe the wheel was off about 1/4 of a turn.
  6. I've always wondered what would happen if a rock, or tree goes in between the tubes. Would it have been different if it was an interior cage as opposed to an exo-cage?
  7. Good choice!

    Hows the price?

I supposedly have a lead on a pair of D60s from a 1978 F350. I can get them for $900. If this deal DOES happen (and it should) I will just sell the rear D60 for $100-$150. I dunno when he will bring them up for me. But I want that front 60 :brows:
  9. thats awesome!

    old tools

I love looking at old tools. But that one takes the cake...its awesome!
  11. I could use one of those. But with a dirt driveway, and no garrage..it wouldnt work that well. Nice find!

    Hows the price?

Well I picked up a 14 bolt out of a '78 K20 SRW truck. Its 3.73 open...great shape with complete brakes. I think its pretty good for $150. Now I need to find out about those D60s :brows:
  13. I'm using stock shocks with the mounts on the axles relocated up. This is how it flexes.

    Booya.

Eh its still .04% off  :D
  15. Go to Autozone, and rent a spring compressor. Its $40, and fully refundable...so in the end, when you bring it back...its FREEE!
  16. Looks like mine is rare, as its a 1988 :D
  17. Do the valve cover gasket first. NAPA sells Fel-Pro gaskets, and it was under $10. I did mine in under 40 minutes, and it fixed a HUGE portion of my oil leak. If that doesn't fix it, then the only logical thing it could be would be an oil pan leak. If you do have to do the oil pan gasket, get the 1 piece seal (NAPA stocks these) and the rear main seal while you are at it. The other question...I have no clue. Hope this helps.
  18. Good! So with some plating and a few good strong skid plates bolted to the stiffeners...I should be good to go. Maybe a cage to tie everything together at some point. I'm getting a 14 bolt from a guy ~1.5 hours from here for $150, and a pair of D60s from a 1978 F350. I have my eye on 39.5s, and a triangulated 4 link rear. :brows:
  19. Since the MJ is half unibody, half frame...how much does the unibody flex? I might be putting some rather large axles under the MJ, and am curious. I will be plating the frame rails with 3x3 1/4" angle iron...but will that be enough?

Are you going to use the Box4Rocks kit on pirate? I want to do that with a 231/300.

    Hows the price?

So run a bigger tire ;) If you shave the 14 bolt, you can get it within 1/2 an inch of D60 clearance. There isn't really anything around the 5.13s though. All you can do is go with 4:1 in the t-case. I'm going to use the 14 bolt, because its cheaper. I don't really care about gearing, because my MJ is going to be a trailered rig...so with 5.13s and 38s-39s I don't think it will be horrible....I hope.

Find a GM 14 bolt instead. The D60s come with 1.31" shafts...the same size as D44s. The Spindle is 1.400", and to accomodate 1.5" 35 spline shats, it needs to be bored out to ~1.600. Which is easier said then done. The spindles are welded to the axle, so you have to find a machine shop that can bore it out, or you have to cut the spindles off and have them bored and rewelded. If you go straight to a full float 14 bolt, you get 1.5" shafts, and a 10.5" ring gear. The carrier is a 2 piece design, so detroit lockers are about $400. And the re-gearing sounds much easier too. No carrier shims to worry about!

    buuuummer man! That sucks!
  25. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/60_front/ There is a bit in there (I think in the beginning) about D60s in newer trucks.
