  1. Sucks Jeff. I'm glad that you are in (mostly) good health.
  2. Thats an awful big caliper bolt! Mine are 5/16 or 8mm (those 2 sizes are SO close, it doesnt even metter) 12pt.
  3. 5.25" I believe. 8)
  4. Ok then. Now I just need to find a place to park that 2WD 'Manche where it won't be in the way ;) Pete- are those 2WD or 4WD leaf springs? Thanks guys. This is what I'll be carrying around. That truck box is way too wide to fit perpendicular to the bed, so it has to go this way. In the box I have a complete spare steering system (tierod/draglink/adjustable tracbar), spare front and rear driveshaft, spare front axle shafts, jack, tools, and recovery equipment. Plus that spare tire.
  5. So I'm happy with the flex that I get out of my leaf springs, but I want a load capacity increase. With my spare tools, spare tire, and gas, the rear likes to sag ~1" lower than the rear. At my disposal I have 4 XJ peaf packs and 2 MJ leaf packs (2WD). I'm tempted to use the 2WD MJ main springs as an AAL because it is as long as the other MJ main. The XJ main (with the eyes cut off) will be ~48"...almost as long as the #2 MJ spring. You can see here that my rear springs don't have a ton of arc anyways...so I don't think that a 2WD spring would make much of a difference. Thoughts, comments, concerns?
  6. You guys should try Massachusetts for inspections... "Formula for allowable height increase - maximum allowable increase to include larger tires Maximum Lift = (Wheelbase x Wheel Track) divided by 2200. (For example, formula may allow 2 inch lift and a 2 inch increase in tire, equaling a total lift of 4 inches over stock.)" Thats for the lift law. Fun, eh?
  7. GOD!! So little rust!!
  8. I think that the year change was 1989. I just put a 1990 AW4/231 in my MJ...but I didnt take them appart to varify the count.
  9. I believe that time would count too. The bolts are still under extreme pressure, causing them to strech.
  10. I think the sticker on the back of the red one says "Team Losi." Which happens to be an R/C car company. :dunno:
  11. If you're just going to throw it in the bed (like I assumed) then this tank will work. BUT if you want to bolt it up...then you will need a short bed tank. ;)
  12. Mine were rusted through, and the PO had smashed them pretty well. I didnt want to deal with replacing them...only to have them dented up again. I have already put a dent in the bottom of the lip, so if the whole bottom was there...it would be a mess! And no, they don't flap. I don't have them anchored either...I guess its just the way they are.
  13. Thats exactly what I do. Put this one in when I get to the trail, and throw the stocker in the bed. I've had it out once already...it worked great. 8)

    iPod help needed

Well to start, an iPod is a digital music player, which organizes your music according to artist, album, song, and genre. Apple just released a whole new series of iPods, which I am not as familiar with. I would definately buy NEW. Used stuff, and refurbished stuff can be a mistake. The iPod classic has a spinning hard drive (I believe...at least mine does). The only thing I don't like about that, is that its just another moving part to break. Speaking of breakages, when you get your iPod..get the Apple Care service plan. It extends the warrenty of the iPod against any failures (battery dying, screen stops working, etc) for another year (so you get 2 years of warrenty). My brother has the Nano model...and I like it. His is in the 8gb flavor and has more than 1,000 songs on it. I have a 30gb model and have ~4,500 songs on it, and 3 full length movies. Thats all I can really think of now...its 12:35AM, and I'm rather tired ;) . I'm sure that the other people with iPods will chime in too. As far as purchasing them, any store (BestBuy, CompUSA, and apple.com) have similar prices. I got my iPod at Cosco, and saved ~$30 off of CompUSA's price. Also, you can look at them, and see their different features at www.apple.com. HTH.
  15. I hope they both get long, hard sentences. My condolences to you, and your friends.
  16. Thats great to hear! Thanks for that Cole.
  17. Mitch is just going to throw it in the bed, so size doesnt matter. I'm just worried about the fuel pump fitting into the new tank. I think it will. Thanks guys.
  18. I looked up the tank online, and it appears that the same ones were used for 1986-1992. I think it will work...if you are able to switch the pumps around.
  19. Mitch wants to buy the gas tank from my 1986 2.8L MJ. I believe that the fuel pumps are different between carb'd and EFI motors...no? If this is the case, can he take his working pump out of his leaky tank, and stick it in the tank that I'm giving him? Thanks. :chillin:
  20. Triangulated 4 link in the rear? What about the front? This will be fun to watch.
  21. Sometimes my MJ will start after 1 crank, and other times it takes 4 cranks. I don't know whats up with that. If my XJ is warm, it will always start after 1 crank.
  22. WTF?? I brought this into a driveline shop, with an estimate of $120 to re-tube the shaft. Turned out it was $119.50 for re-tubing it to 48.75" (u-joint to u-joint) and for 2 NEW 1310 u-joints. If you are paying $300 for THAT, then I'd look just a little harder for another shop.
  23. If I could live in Alaska...I'd learn to tolerate the cold. :)
