  1. Looks great!
  2. I thought my XJ had a RMS leak...but it was the valve cover gasket. It leaks from the rear of the cover, and leaks down to the bottom of the engine. See if those bolts are loose, and if they are...tighten them up a little (not too much, because that CAN destroy a gasket) and see if that slows the leak.
  3. This guy is in my club. 37" MTRs, and Toyota axles f/r. This thing had 2 transmissions...like a transfer case doubler...but with transmissions! It had a Jeep 5 speed, and then the stock 3 speed. It was VERY cool to see.
  4. I'm still here...I remember you. You used to have that funny baby avatar :chillin:
  5. Its not horribly slow for me :dunno: I did you see you "banned" a few times though ;)
  6. Dirty, if you need some inspiration VetteBoy has a nice build-up on Jeepin.com. I might be building a 3 link in the future, so document your progess with pics :D
  7. schweet!!
  8. I like my Goodyear Wrangler GSA tires. I have them on 16" rims, and measure ~29.5".
  9. How well does the bolt on SOA work? I prefer to have the perches welded to the axle tube. But thats just me :dunno:
  10. It might be an AMC 20 rear. I can see that being mistaken for a D30.
  11. I've read MANY bad things about their customer service. I would steer far away from there. Best thing to do is to keep your eyes open for front lift parts. Many people are going with long arms in the front, and you can pick up a set of adjustable control arms for cheap. I got my front lift (springs, adjustable upper and lower control arms, and tracbar) for $250, used from a guy I know. Deals are out there...just keep your eyes open ;)
  12. don't mean to be a smart@$$ here but yes, your welds look very good, I'm in a two year welding program so i'm starting to be able to see what welds are good and what aren't. I had no idea your could build your own drive shaft like that and make it work.. I'm pleased with them. I never had any welding schooling (only neighbors show me how) and I haven't spent much time welding. I built a bumper, and a gas tank skid plate...thats it. I tried it on the highway, and its works great until you hit 50mph..then it vibrates.
  13. I saw the build up for that red one somewhere..wish I remember though
  14. For the trail, so my good one won't get all dented in....more than it already is  2.25" (or 2"...I can't remember) plumbing pipe from home depot The metal is twice as thick as a stock driveshaft...so I hope it will hold together a little better than the one I twisted earlier this year. I took the ends off of a spare XJ shaft I had, and welded them on...I think my welds are getting a little better too. Its not balanced, and will be swapped out when the trail run is over. :D

    New Tow Rig

    I love older Fords!
  16. I was thinking the other week about this project...wondering if you were still working on it. Now I know :brows: can't wait to see pics!
  17. Sounds a lot like myself :D If you have any experience with axles/transmissions you could do it in 2 weekends. It took me 2 weekends (3 days) to take the transmission out my XJ, take the transmission out of my MJ, and put the one from the XJ into the MJ. And I had never done any think like that before.
  18. I just did this with the AW4 tranny. On that one, there are 2 bolts that are almost impossible to get at without taking the crossmember off. To make it more fun, they are E12...kind of like a torx bit on a bolt. Do you have a Chiltons/Haynes manual? I know on LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW's club website there are links to FSMs that you can download. Maybe it will offer some helpful advise. Dumb question...but are the driveshafts/linkages removed?
  19. I miss my 2A  I had good luck over on www.thecj2apage.com
  20. I inquired at the local Jeep dealership about this matter. They said that the AW4 should have Dexron III

I have 7 months till I'm of legal age. I've spent the last 5 years waiting for that day. I've been good so far and haven't had any without adult supervision (I'm a stickler for the law....I know.) ;)
