Spring Perch issue on dana 35
Eagle_SX4 replied to Airsuperiority's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks like your bushings are worn out. The spring should be centered in the shackle.the u bolts should be straight. New u bolts and new leaf spring bushings might fix your issues. -
Spring Perch issue on dana 35
Eagle_SX4 replied to Airsuperiority's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got some 1.25 wheel spacers and my tires (31x10.5) don't rub any more. Probably the way to go. Sounds like your shackles might be bent. Make sure they are straight up and down. Some pics would be helpful. -
Identifying Lift/Leaf Springs on my Comanche
Eagle_SX4 replied to Comanche Pilot's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Those appear to be standard 4 pack springs with an add a leaf and a longer shackle. -
Burned up wire and won't start
Eagle_SX4 replied to ashtonmj1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I agree you are very lucky to still have your truck. -
Check the wires on the switch. The wires have broken on mine before. Less likely they may have become unplugged.

Headlights not working solution
Eagle_SX4 replied to moparbrown's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I bought mine from K Suspension and don't recommend buying from them. It is a cheap Chinese harness but it does function. Also don't buy fuel injectors from them. They claim to be remanufactured Bosch units but they are not. Just chinese nock offs. -
Not sure what you mean by this. My old springs were original with an add a leaf to just maintain stock height but had next to no load support. I ordered the 4 pack 1280lb springs from general spring in April of last year. I was disappointed by not getting any lift. All the posts I had seen said that it should be 1-3 inch lift but I did not see any.
-
I did not notice any lift with the general spring 4 pack. It remained stock according to the information service bulletin 14E of 9.2 inches +- 1/2 inch from frame rail to top of the axle tube for 4wd models.

If you want a factory used option get a Bosch 69544. They were used in the 94-95 Cherokees with the 4.0 and are easier to find than the 69302. I went with the Deatschwerks because I couldn't find a 69302. After I had already ordered it I found the 69544 which would be my second choice.

I really like the Deatschwerks DW200 pump. It is the newer turbine style which is much quieter and is supposed to last longer than the rotary vein pumps that came in the Comanches. I put one in my Eagle which has the HO 4.0 it is amazing. There are a few other people running them in their Comanches. Takes some minor modifications to the hanger to mount it. https://deatschwerks.com/collections/in-tank/products/9-201-1000

Wire loom clips for the front clip
Eagle_SX4 replied to Salvagedcircuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Quick Google came up with these on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Light-Wiring-Retainers-Clips-E0VY-13A506/dp/B0040D0MTC/ref=asc_df_B0040D0MTC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697456193483&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10738881235740641302&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1026952&hvtargid=pla-584160652956&psc=1&mcid=b3be2b567d7b3d8a8b5cdd4fae9211d0&gad_source=1 Very similar but it's unclear what the mounting hole size is. There are other options if you Google "wire harness tape retainer clip" -
Got the rocker cut out and the new one almost fully welded in. I will finish welding tomorrow and hopefully start painting.
-
Your welcome and honestly I didn't know they existed either. Just thought it would be a good solution. Glad you found one.

Well I got the cab corner fixed as best I could. Put a skim coat of bondo on. Found some rust holes in the passenger rocker panel. I ordered a new rocker from key parts and will get that swapped in before I paint. The doors and fenders are pulled off in preparation for painting the cab. I should be ready to paint the cab on Saturday. Then it will be the doors, hood and header panel.

What is this hole in the cowl for?
Eagle_SX4 replied to Eagle_SX4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks. I will just plan on welding in a patch. -
I have been prepping for paint and started sanding the cowl to find a plastic plug covering a hole. (Driverside of the cowl) Is this a factory hole or did someone just drill a hole and plug it? Maybe for a cb antenna?

That is a fantastic addition to an amazing trailer.

@schardeinYes it is. Oddly you can find NOS nuts but not the bases so that isn't a problem. How much do you want for it?

Parking Brake Release Cable & Handle
Eagle_SX4 replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is what I did for mine that was missing the handle and cable. I used a 1/4 rod and cut some slots into it and bent the other end in to a handle shape. -
29-Improving the fuel pump ground
Eagle_SX4 replied to fiatslug87's topic in Cruiser54's Renix MJ and XJ tips
Just did this on my truck and just had one improvement to add. Instead of taping the wires after soldering them. I used a weather pack dissembly tool and pulled the wire out of the connector and then used some 3/16 inch marine heat shrink.(Has hot glue on the inside for a weather tight seal). It was a tight fit over the weather pack seal but it did fit. -
Got the bed pulled today. There is only surface rust on the spot welds. Nothing else, just a bunch of dried mud. By some miracle I was able to get all 8 bolts/nuts off without breaking any. They will get replaced as they are quite rusty. Used my engine lift and 6 ratchet straps and pulled it off by myself. Now I have better access to the damage on the corner. So much bondo
