There was a write up somewhere how to modify your bench seat brackets to fit on bucket seats.

I put a Walker on my MJ. Bolted right up. Just had to tweak the rear mount a little, the tail pipe was a little off ( OCD also ) Would have been fine without tweaking.

Looking good. Hope you saved the rear bumper. -
Sounds like your alternator is not working.

88 pioneer 4.0L not starting help!
MJCARENA replied to Tj1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Kind of sounds like you are testing the return line and looking for fuel to come out of it. The fuel comes from the tank to the line at the rear of the engine, thru the fuel rail, then thru the regulator and then back to the tank. If the fuel rail is dry as a bone, then either your pump is not working, or you have a blockage some where. Can you hear the pump working? -
The car wash killed my comanche
MJCARENA replied to Akmj90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you wash the engine down. I had the same problem on my XJ after cleaning the engine. There is a connector for the trans on the passenger side of the engine that got wet ,and when I took it apart and dried it all was well again. -
Looks like the #2 spark plug wire is moving around quite a bit. Is the plug loose?

Could be that the timing chain was installed off a tooth. -
pitman arm& transfercase
MJCARENA replied to ownedueasy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you put taller tires on it also? That would increase your steering radius. The steering stops might be adjusted different on the new 4x4 axle also. Is the shift arm on the xfer case on the right way and not upside down? -
I would think it could be the MAP sensor. Make sure the vacuum hose is still connected to it and at the throttle body it is in the correct hole, can't remember if it is the top or bottom.

rear axle has play after installing new bearings
MJCARENA replied to teamsmith's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like your bearing is bad. Doesn't the seal just press against the outer cage part of the bearing, this would let the inner part and axle move . -
I have an 89 XJ with an automatic trans on 33's with 4:56 gears and it works good on and off road. I also have a Lock-Right in the rear and the Tru-Trac in the front. Works good in the rocks around here. A lot of other guys have Lock-Rights front and rear with no issues on the road. They say it is like its not there in 2wd on the road.

Great looking truck. -
If you could, do both ways, hub to flare and the lower control arm bolts and see what the results are. Just curious. I was shown this way because my flares where cut out when I got my XJ and the owner said it was a 4 inch lift. When I bought new shocks for it they were to long. Found out it was only 2.5 inches.
-
How is this invalid? It does not make a difference what size tires you have. It is the relationship of the axle to the body. Just like the hub to the flare.
-
The lower control arm mounting points are still the same.
-
A quick way to check lift is to measure the lower control arm mounting bolts from the ground. The lower control arms are pretty much level from the factory. So if you lift the vehicle the body side lower control arm bolt is going to be higher then the axle side lower control arm bolt. The difference between the two is the amount of lift you have in the front. This is not exact, but it is close enough to judge about how much lift you have.

On the sides it is paint and pinstripes, the lettering my wife made out of vinyl. (she makes decals) She also made the stripes on the hood. Not quite exactly correct but close enough for me. -
All ready removed. See Comanche of the Month for this month. Thanks.

Did you put the thermostat in facing the correct direction ?

Cool, nice looking truck.

How about these jack stands. Might be a little extreme. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200610846_200610846?cm_mmc=Google-pla&utm_source=Google_PLA&utm_medium=Automotive%20%3E%20Jacks&utm_campaign=Sunex%20Tools&utm_content=39054&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=39054&gclid=CjwKEAjwlPOsBRCWq5_e973PzTgSJACMiEp2Lx5aRmftjk3NSt7tPsSW70Qu2mcYgfrLolNJP27RXRoCZuXw_wcB

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on the truck. After I wrapped the evap hose my outlet temp dropped around 3 degrees, every little bit helps here in Arizona in the summer heat. I figured the hose was picking up heat from the engine bay and that was just more heat for the condenser to get rid of. I might be wrong on my theory but it did make a change.
