That's what I did. I ran 33 x 12.5 tires for years. Always thought they were too wide, sticking out past the flares. And I thought the 10.5 inch tires looked a little too skinny. So I went with some 33 x 11.5 (285/75/16) KM2s. I'm really happy with the decision. thats the conclusion ive been coming too. i like a skinny tire but a little width would be nice. plus i hate how a 15" rim leaves a lot of open/un-treaded sidewall. a 16 or 17" rim with 33s would be the beez neez in my book. then throw on a bead lock and its over with :thumbsup:

when i step up to 33s I'm getting 10.50s. i think they look/fit just right. i always hated a wide tire. i know there are guys running both on here, just ask for some pics. hell why not cut the middle and stick with 11.50s? best of both worlds

yup i ripped the sh*t out of them. some openings were there already. you can tell where i cut and what was an opening by the lip. prolly not my brightest moment buuuut...... I'm going to leave it as is on the drivers and weld a whole sheet over it. i might try a different approach on the pass side but again ive already hacked the hell out of it. Edit: pass door is now 98% ready to start mocking up pieces for. might it get done this weekend too :chillin:

sh*t its always more work then you think...... pass side ran out of cutting wheels. so tomorrow ill do a little tweaking on the drivers and button it up. i wish i would of gotten more done on the pass side but as long as i get one done this weekend ill be happy.

i bet your glad as hell you don't have to get back under there :wrench: i used gasket remover and it worked wonders on that factory gasket.

thanks man. your steel looks a lot beefier than what i got. i went with 16 gauge steel. which is pretty much the size of the door metal. i just measured and mine is 15" from the bottom of the door as well. then i cut 21-1/2" length wise. so both of our down cuts were in the 9" to 9-3/4" area. its just the angles that are different. good stuff :yes: i got my other door today so now i can hack that up too. i should really finish the drivers but id like to weld them at the same time sooooo, yeah. Edit: just finished pass side door and re-adjusted the hinges to fit right. ill start cutting down the insides, then fab up the plates to go on hell this thread is turning into a D.I.Y. post if i ever read one :smart: maybe a sticky in the future somewhere mods......?

yeah i might look into that as well. right now though I'm cool with using the outside handle. i left a big enough lip when i cut it to fit two fingers on there good. reaching around to open it does slightly suck but its not too bad. if i get tired of it, ill just take the door off :yes: id like to see some pics of your build anyway. i plan on taking a lot more when i do the other door. no hurry now though since i think i got it lol. what the hell has been taking you so long with the pass side?

I'm also thinking about rigging up a lever to lock and unlock the door. i know, why lock a half door?.. well why not. i can do it now but after welding the panels on its unreachable. i don't know just a thought but i might go on and do it

now would be a good time for your advice i cut ten inches down and i can't remember how long. i see my angles are a bit more vertical then yours. no biggie i guess. I'm picking up some metal tomorrow and might tack a few into place to get a feel. i havent decided on thickness but I'm thinking one the same size as the door should suffice.

alright ive got my door and ive gutted it. i checked the build thread and there was like one or two pics. not in detail or anything. how did you go about the inside? just welded up one whole new piece? is there enough room to cut a little lower down then where you have yours and still have good cover? i know you said you don't remember what thickness and I'm sure i can wing it but i don't want to go overboard or under to where itll bow under pressure or something retarded. dude just upload pics. its not hard and itll save on A LOT of ?. :idea:

i was just about to email you over at Cherokee forum. i don't know why not here but whatever. do you have more pics/info on how you did yours? in the build thread maybe? havent checked. I'm about to go pick up some doors for the operation and at 25 bucks a pop I'm not too worried about it if i mess up but being prepared is the name of the game, so lets have that info! :D on a side note. love the truck and I'm glad an Mj can win over a cherokee,,, on its own forum no less!

the name escapes me at the moment but i know you can get it just about anywhere like walmart. its a just with a jug with a spray nozzle on it

you know theres something you can spray around the outside of your house to keep bugs out. the bad thing is, it keeps whatever bugs in that are in there already. at least once you kill em your good though. spider bites will have two dots where the fangs went in also. if its just a red bump then yeah prolly some other pest. i went to bed one night and woke up with a bump on my foot itching like crazy. i forgot about it until now but its gone so i don't care :yes:

i like the no doors look and i am going to make up a set of half doors but its raining here so not today :( as for rock rails thats on the list too. i figure the unibody couldnt handle the hardcore $#!& doorless but does anyone acutally have proof of what no doors and hardcore wheelin will do???? i don't want to hear opinions, i want facts! from people who lived it. i have checked out my local laws and its no biggie. ive stopped and talked to the police (in serveral cities/towns) and they all loved it. saw nothing wrong with it. just have to throw on a seatbelt. if i do get stopped by a prick cop, ill just say "hell its a jeep. do the rest have doors." also if you notice there is a drop in the cab at the door jam. a pretty good one too IMO but the only law here is about having a drivers side mirror. as for the T boned thing. so does that apply to a TJ, YJ, JK etc. etc.??? sure at least they have a wanna be rollcage but still a side impact with no doors........
