all the smaller stuff i ordered came how and when it was supposed to. now the bigger items i had to wait on. one of them took a month! both compaines giving me the run around because neither knew what the @#$% was going on. so with me its 50/50. youll either be good to go or pissed off. just make sure to read their policy. last i remember it was something f'd up on cancelations or refunds or something

they don't come up to often around my parts. so really i just enjoy looking at the pictures unless i need something MJ specific. which i know where two are, soooo ill snag those parts first
-
thanks. i actually thought about throwing in cup holders towards the front and putting a cubby hole in the bottom for a strap, tools or what have you.......but i didnt do either lol. it all came down to time is why i didnt. i had to drive 30min to use my buddies welder both times. for one door it took all day one day to fab up the pieces, then a whole day just to weld it up. i might make a second set where ill cut off the window frame part so they'll really be half doors. maybe do all that then :dunno:

nine days later and i have my pass side door finished too :jump: still have to grind along the door handle area and get mirrors but other then that. done! this one also warped in the exact same spot as the other but not as bad. i can live with it. and yes, ill let this thread die now :rotf:

true. i think i might go for it. i just hope the gears arent welded. i don't like going that route but he said they're locked front and rear so I'm hoping lockers. either way parts alone its worth it. this afternoon ill go back and give it a good looking over. mainly the 44 so i won't be buying a cracked housing or something retarded to burst my bubble later. also it has 6" coils and spacers, so looks like i won't have to buy coils when i go spring over :D

^^ thats sort of what I'm thinking too. ive already got the 8.25 ready to go but the 44 ive been searching for forever. i settled for the 8.25 cause it was easy to get. the 44 does have drums though. so id have to do that swap. i know i could make money back on this thing if it runs right. a 100 bucks at the JY and i could have it looking good too. prolly even sell it for more. i don't know though. like you said its a toss up and right now my gut is all over the place on it

Alright, so Ive got on the line an XJ, i believe an 89 but the dude has no freaking clue about jeeps so he doesnt know. the door tag is gone and i didnt look anywhere else lol. its lifted god knows what. I'm saying 4.5 with spacers front and rear. its on bald 35s, bad alternator, missing pass side axle shaft, broken speedo cable, ROUGH interior, bullet holes in the pass rear quarter, a fair amount of dings and dents but he's only asking 600. a buddy took it for a spin, i didnt. he has first dibs but i doubt the wife will let him do it. here's my deal,,,,,,,,,it has lift parts, all around decent drivetrain (as far as i know), and a dana 44 :brows: that last one pretty much did it for me. ive looked up and down and all around, and in the middle of some random little town. there it is. my 44. so here's the issue I'm facing. can i justify the amount of the 44, lift parts and drivetrain, against the 600 he's asking. my first thought. hell no. second thought. walk up with 400 cash and see if the tweeker bites. third thought. god knows what is really wrong with this thing. i mean a tweeker will do anything, ANYTHING to keep a car going. so who knows what tricks and trades whomever has done to it. now i know my jeep, so i should know this one. i figure i could spot out/hear/feel anything wrong with it,,, but do i risk it???? what would you do? i prolly wouldnt sell the 44  id swap it in the old MJ and sell the 8.25 w/disc conversion to make up some cost. sounds good to me. as for the otherside with parts and whatnot. i don't know.

finished the pass side half door!!! now i don't have to drive around with one half door and no door/whole door on the other side

SW86 replied to comancheap's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
why not YOU as the company do it to sell a few more? you already know some of us WILL buy a set if it works out good. hell you put them on your MJ, if i like it, ill buy the ones right off it so your not out anything. NOW THAT would be good customer service  ps. id only like the rears though ;) -
please tell me your not going to wing it. cause thats what that statement made it sound like

it'd be even better if the grill wasnt upside down :headpop: or wait, down side up? :D -
really, just take the doors off. there will be more mud in there then you'd like after awhile of it. trust me, I'm living it. its fun to have some mud thrown on you once in awhile but even cruisin down trails NOT looking to mud, you'll get mud on you one way or another. it get old but from the sounds of it. your looking to have a beater to romp around in. id go as far as to cut off the back portion behind the rear seat. that'll give your open feel (plus no doors) while still having some protection incase of a roll over.....but if your just hell bent on it......do it.... its yours to do with what you want and lets face it, cherokees arent in short supply

SW86 replied to Al Evitts's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i just took mine off of cherokee doors -
thanks guys  i learned a lot from doing this and I'm sure the pass side door will be a lot better now that i really know whats going on with it. as for the hair, if you think thats long you should of seen me last year. it was down to my @$$ but chicks dug it hardcore. long blondish brown locks that chicks can't help themselfs from playing with  but its too f*ckin hot down here so a hair cut is coming soon
-
long over due pics didnt have the length of steel long enough to cover the whole door but it'll due until i make better ones. it warped in one spot on the inside where you can see a pile of steel. could of grinded it more but it would of looked weird. i still have to grind here and there and paint it camo. other then that for my first fabbing job and second time welding, i think i did alright.
-
i finished my drivers door today, minus a few grinds. i didnt do the door lock like i wanted because it was taking too much time to do it in general anyway. well now i wish i had and prolly will do it because i came home and threw it on to test it out/have a look,,,,,,,,,,,,and its f*ckin locked!!! so now i have to cut a hole to unlock it... awsome..... on a positive note, it looks great and is better then i ever thought it would be on there. it might not look the prettiest but it'll do thats for sure
-
that thing is ugly. flames are retarded period. waayyy over used these days. not to mention the running boards :ack:
-
i now understand what took you so long on the other door...... $#!& takes forever if you want it right. i worked with what steel i could get at the time (now i can get diamond plate for free) so it is what it is but i think it looks pretty good. once i grind down the welds and throw on some paint, ill have one half door :D

yup check the floors. id throw out an offer and see if they bite. its a good starting point thats for sure
