  1. My 88 4.0 5spd 2wd can't seem to pass smog. The tech says he replaced the O2 sensor and now it's running super rich. He tested the temp sensor and it's fine. I replaced the MAP about 2 weeks ago. He says he thinks it's going to be a bad computer. Since he has my truck for at least another day, can you guys think of any other causes for the rich fuel? Is the computer something I can pull from a JY or should I buy a new one? This is getting frustrating and expensive.
  2. Switch received Kyle. Thanks!!
  3. Isn't that the V6 that's usually listed as "Bullit Proof"?
  4. My wife says the 88 I bought 3 weeks ( w/o permission ) is my present this year. For her gift, she wants me to not have any involvement with Comanches for 24 hours. I agreed. Uh oh, I hear footsteps. Gotta go! :(
  5. Drive by on your way home after work and see if she's still there. ;)
  6. Without knowing your driveway or yard space situation it's a bit difficult to give advice but since you live i warm weather, how about a big carport over your driveway or if you have space, a full fledged separate garage/shop in the back? I'm contemplating the same thing so I can have a designated Comanche space.
  7. OK, thanks for the breakdown. Now I know what to focus on.
  8. I often see ads for front grills and they usually specify 84-96 or 97-01. I need to replace mine and want to be sure to get one that fits my 88 MJ. Is there a difference at the cut-off years? Hopefully, I can score one at a JY but if the years fit differently, I'll zone in on the earlier years.
  9. Watching football Sunday night and saw the ESPN commercial where everybody keeps saying Roll Tide. It took me a minute to remember why that sounded so familiar. Thought it was pretty funny!

    MMA Highlight

I love MMA but don't get a chance to watch it much. I really wanted to see GSP beat the snot out of Koschek (sp?) Thanks for the vid!
  12. Today I ventured deeper into DIY than ever before. I removed my serpentine belt which was getting shredded by a damaged pulley that some genius bent to hell from using the wrong tool to remove/install. (must use water pump pulley puller tool) I installed brand new belt and pulley. Good as new. Before joining CC I never would have attempted anything more than an oil or air filter change. With help from members and reading posted projects, I am slowly becoming confident in doing my own work. Thank you Comanche Club and all the members who jump in to help novices like me!

    Saw two MJs

At 4 pm today I drove the 89 to Autozone to pick a fan belt, power steering pulley, and the puller tool. As I walked out there was a very nice Comanche parked right in front. I walked back in and shouted " Who owns the Comanche?" A young couple at the register said they do so I said I also own one and if it's OK I'll wait for them by their truck. We talked for about 20 minutes . It was a 87 4x4 4.0 5spd LWB Metric Ton. ( AZ plates) Sorry I had no camera or phone with me. I mentioned CC about 15 times and told them they would love the forum. They both seemed eager to check it out. I was going to make my own Post but after reading this one I thought it was pretty cool we are seeing more Comanches.
  14. I don't know about the 97+ glass but it would be fairly easy to just replace your wings with fixed wings, assuming the leak is from the pivoting wings. You can grab fixed wings off most XJs for a decent price. Be sure to update all the weatherstripping.
  15. Thanks for all the input guys! I didn't realize it was so expensive to re-gear. I'll keep my eyes open for a good deal on axles, but how do I know what gears they have if the seller doesn't know? Is there a tag or stamp? I'm not sure what to look for.
  16. 88 MJ 4.0 2wd 5spd. I will soon be swapping in a AX15 (2wd) and, if I can afford it, thought of swapping gears and maybe even axles. For street use only, does it matter if I just keep the D35 or should I upgrade? And whichever axle I use, which gearing would be the best ratio to have decent acceleration with not much concern for high top end speed? Thanks!
  17. This is the company that sells the nice pillar lights. They have a few seat belts as well. http://www.infiniteinnovations.com/main.asp?p=3_232

  19. I completely agree with shelbyluvv. If it's the one you really want, 2 hours is no big deal. Take someone with you and make a day of it. I don't have a price yet on my 89. I need to get the 88 sea worthy before I sell the 89. It will be 3-4 weeks before I accomplish that. I just saw a Street Comanche on SD CL and posted it in the "Other" section!!
  20. I think I'll get one and attach it to the spare tire cable and winch it up. If I get a flat I can lower it and drive for :help: !
  21. Seemed like a pretty decent truck for the $$. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/2104397693.html
  22. Here's some latches listed at Autozone. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/access ... h/_/N-25tm
  23. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/2104397693.html I am going to sell my 1st MJ but it is 2.5 4spd. I saw this one in Riverside criagslist and it's pretty close to what you are looking for. Good luck!!
  24. By reading each ad, it's apparently the exact same header so go with the less expensive one. :smart:
