That top one might be from an AX5 but not positive. The adapter I told you about is from Advance Adapters and adapts an AX5 shifter to an AX15 transmission. It fits between the top of the trans and the bottom of the tower, raising the tower and shifter up about 1/2". I'm at work so can't post pics right now.

Welcome :wavey: You can post pics via Photobucket or similar site. Buy some coveralls, you're gonna get dirty. :wrench:

....than being the Oil Boy at the Annual Hawaiin Tropics Swimsuit Competition. Well....maybe not that example but it is tough to think of things to compete with the Comanche. :wrench:

It totally depends on the mark-up at the dealer level. Each dealer and each vehicle model can be different. Kelly Blue Book will show Invoice and typical MSRP on all vehicles, including optional equipment prices. NEVER negotiate from the MSRP or "affordable monthly payment". Always start with Invoice and go up from there if you have to. Most dealerships also get a "factory to dealer" kick-back on each vehicle sold but they usually won't discuss that with you. I think you can find out on the Web but I can't remember the site. I like to bring a print out of the KBB with me and use it to bargain. Also, don't discuss trade-in value until after agreeing on the new vehicle price. If they try to pressure you to do things their way, leave and go somewhere else or wait for them to call in a couple days. You are committing to a lot of money and you set the stage for Deal or no Deal!

Can this post be moved eventually to the DIY section so we can find it more easily in the future? I will definitely refer to this one when the time comes. -
Pictures would help for comparison. I have 3 ax15 shifters and one Peugeot shifter and the ax15s are all the same but the Peugeot is longer and shaped differently. You can buy a knob that tightens down to the shifter below the threads. There is also an adapter that raises the shifter tower from the tranny about 1/2". I have that adapter, brand new and don't need it. PM me if you are interested in the adapter or a shifter. I can post pics if you want.

When I bought my 88 a few months ago I saw the paper work for the rebuilt motor and the mileage was listed at just over 300,000. I have since only put a few hundred on it.

I think 90Pioneerlove is only 19 so the offer for beer is a metaphor ( :D ) AND I'm really upset that your couch has nicer tailights than my either of my MJs.

Welcome to Comanche Club! You'll find this site to be a great informational source and as addicting as owning an MJ. Post up pictures and a bit more info of your truck and locale. Ask lots of questions, there are several very knowledgeable members that are eager to help.

I want to call this Marine just to tell him he's about $5K off but who knows, maybe another Marine will pay his price. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/2225452878.html

Sounds like this is for off-roaders but I would be up for a meet if it's open to street only MJs.

I can't find the thread about putting our MJs to work so I'll post it here. Hauled 1 yard of crushed brick weighing 1800 lbs in the 4cyl 89. The final feat was up a steep driveway and then a 90 degree back up onto my upper driveway. Piece O' Cake!! Image Not Found Image Not Found

I wouldn't get cheapo spacers for safety reasons. If you can afford them, Spidertrax still has 5x4.5 1.5" for sale in their OUTLET section. They are 79.99/Pair. Blemished but structurally sound and fully warrantied.

Best bet is junkyards or finding a Cherokee part-out on CL. I looked for about a month and finally got one for free from a guy parting a 92 XJ.

Thanks Guys! I'm removing 6 month old shocks from a parts Comanche. The owner paid a shop $400 for P&L for 4 heavy duty shocks and he sold them to me for $50. It's not driveable and it's parked on ivy covered ground. I wanted to be certain of the best method for removal before the operation. I'll try to stabalize the jack and stands on plywood if I can't mange to do this from a no-lift position.
-
I'm sure this is a "simple" question but I have never changed shocks and can't find a straight answer online. Do I jack the truck up by frame or by axle? :dunno: If by frame, where is the best spot to place the jack, front & rear?

Check the new post in the "other" (CL) listing. -
Filled up clutch MC on the 89. Went to move it and had no clutch. Res was empty. Took all wheels off 89 and installed onto 88. Put old wheels onto 89, getting ready to sell soon.

I think it's time we contact the producers of Hoarders and Intervention to see who will pay the most for this story.
