  1. :rotf: :agree:
  2. Looks nice out of the garage man. I was wondering when we'd see it out in the open air. Cute kids too.
  3. Well, guess what? I did it again. Yep, I split my thumb open yet again working on the 86. This time though I DID have to go in to get it looked at. Found a chunk of rust in there. So, pics of the 86's new paint are delayed even longer now. Maybe I should take all this as a lesson learned... don't work on the truck that bit ya so soon after it bites ya.
  4. I kinda seen that one coming. I should've specified myself better. What I had meant was knock the rear glass out, weld the X, and then put a piece of plexiglass in there, and silicone it closed so there's no air leaks. That might work out for ya?
  5. Meh, knock the glass out and weld it. :brows:
  6. Wow, shows how much I paid attention. I didn't even notice the use of an MJ tailgate :fool: . That just makes it even better of a conversion, again, both trucks are nice, and nicely executed.
  7. Thanks mfpdm. I needed that. As for the ideas I put into mine, well let's just say that one of them is on the hood. Which I now know will work out nicely. Again, beautiful truck mike, and being a first time paint job for you, it turned out great.
  8. If only it were a lil closer and I had the money. I'd drive it as a DD.
  9. offroader, sounds like you would've been better off using some tacks instead of a staple gun. Don't worry, I've been there too, actually I ended up stapling my hand directly to the wall I was helping one of my cousins build in his old house. Unfortunately it happened while he was out getting lunch and I wasn't able to reach a screwdriver or hammer to get my hand un-stuck. That was about 3 years ago.
  10. HOLY GRABBER GREEN XJ!! I like it, and the redefined front on the MJ. They both look great, and welcome to the site, the beer's in the fridge .
  11. Possibly also emergency contact info in the odd case that someone needs medical attention. I know I will be disclosing that information to whoever will be in charge of gathering info, as with my CF and now being diabetic, it runs the possibility of being needed. Just a thought.
  12. Looking good Pat, can't wait to see it lifted now.
  13. It does look real nice. I have to agree it should look better with the stripes on it. Now I'm almost embarassed to post pics of how my 86 looks, for fear that some people will think I copied a few ideas from people.
  14. I'm actually quite happy with my 2.5. Almost 170,000 miles on it, and all I've done is the routine maintainance to it. Oil changes (needs one now), and I've also had to put a new water pump, thermostat, and alternator in it, but other than that, it's done wonders for me. I'm driving it till it dies, then opting for a FI 350 with another 5 spd behind it.
  15. Ah, yes. I get it now. Maybe I should have read the actual post and your sig better. As far as the hacking it up part, DirtyComanche and pingpong would be the people to ask about it. They both have a lot of practice and experience. :brows:
  16. Hi, I'm Joe and I'm an alc...... oops, wrong spot for that. I'll be down at Pat's on the 8th, fixing my 88. I'll also be leaving and staying in the same place as Pat. No cell phone for me, and I highly doubt my house phone will reach that far.
  17. Holy crap  . What did you do, steal that from the ARMY? ;)
  18. I got my 88 when I was 17 for $600 from my mom's ex sister in law. Then when the front end went out on it, I was looking for another vehicle. Happened across this board, and finally bought GIR's 86 X for $1200 back on Sept. 22, 2006. Very easily the best purchases I've ever made.
  19. Actually, I don't, at least not yet anyways. I just need to remember to grab them off of my fridge and put them in my truck so I have them for times like that.
  20. Just do what I'm going to do to mine. Get a TBI setup off of a mid to late 80's S-10 and swap it all over.
  21. Here's my 86 with the fogs in the factory position. Although they're aftermarket lights, they are the same size.
  22. Well after seeing an MJ running around town here for a while now, I finally got a chance to meet up and talk with the guy. He has a red 88? (forgot to ask) pioneer shortbox with a topper on it. Just a basic 2wd 4L with a manual. The body on this thing is super clean aside from the usual few dings in it. I didn't have any magnets with me to give him, but I informed him of the site and all the great people on here. Hopefully I see him on here sometime soon. He did say though that it may be a challenge for him to be on here full-time, as he doesn't have internet at his house, but he does go to the library to use their's every so often.
  23. I just noticed this, but, what happened to the door lock, it seems to be MIA.
  24. He's talking about the section where the rear bumper goes. I know there's at least one pic of an MJ on here with one, but I just can't seem to find it either. :redX:
  25. Yes, it will be pics of it prior to the incident. All I did after it happened was close the storage unit's door, lock it up, and take off like a bat out of hell in the 88 for home. I'm already on a daily anti-biotic for my Cystic Fibrosis, and I trade off putting bacitracin ointment on it and exposing it to clean air. So far so good, no sign of infection, although where the skin was peeled back it is completely numb STILL. Yea, I agree, doctors are over-rated.
