89 Pioneer. basically done
beaterjeep replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Nice steering wheel on there. Also liking the "finished" stance of it. Nice use of the tarp under the carpet too, good thinking there. -
What we have here is a toy being the cause of getting stuck and un-stuck.

You just shush. :P I'm just hoping to have my 86 ready to roll for a return trip next year :brows: . And from the looks of it, we will have more than a couple down there. -
Thank you for bringing this thread back to the first page. I am about a week and a half from getting the new axle under it. And you say rust? That what you see is what the "mechanic" (ASE certified working out of his home garage. Now because of me out of business with a huge fine and loss of certification) said was all new parts. He says he replaced the tracbar, tie rod and ends, sway bar, and a few other parts. New parts my arse.

Found this on BestOf Craigslist- Dear Honda Owners

Nice. When I used to attempt to race the ricers with my 88, they'd always laugh at me. Afterwards, they'd compliment me cuz I'd chirp the tires into 3rd gear. -
Hhmmm.... that's odd. I know when i checked them in my old 86 V6 cougar I had, they looked about the same size. I figured out through search that it was lower_jeep that used the cougar coils with no problems. So maybe he could chime in and let us know what year and engine he used his coils from.

Just don't do what I do with my 88, unless absolutely nessecary. I have a small knock so during the summer I run straight 40w, and in the winter I run 20w50. Gotta get out of that habit, but I've been doing since I got it about 7 1/2 years ago.

Just over 2 weeks to go. Is everyone ready to go? -
If ya don't mind too terribly, could ya let me know how ya went about making the hood and roll pan? I'm looking to do both of them on my 88 and would appreciate the advice.
-
Looks nice, both of them. I really want the hood and roll pan on the 86. Did ya make them yourself?
-
Yes, the 83-88 V6 coils will give you about 2" of lift. The same year range V8 coils will give about 3-4" of lift and both have almost the same compression rate as the MJ's do. I think the person that did it on here used later model coils though, so I'm not completely sure on that end, but I do know about the 83-86 ones though.

Asking this board their opinion on lift kits is like asking a lady of the night house for a wife. Many differnt ideas on the right one, and the best way is to look around and find the one that works best for your needs and wants.

Well, that just sucks. Both posts above me do. No rollover contest  and no warf90. At least warf, you have your priorities right, wish your daughter good luck from us. -
Nah, I know that ford's last a long time, it's just that I grew up in a ford loving family, so I switched to liking mopars just to piss them off. Coming from a derbying past, I actually prefer to run either old mopars or fords because of their reliability and strength. Plus from my own personal experience, I've not yet been able to blow up a ford 5.0. Although a chevy 5.0 is fairly easy for me to blow up.

Good point there dirty. Upon further looking, it looks like he has the front leaf shackles built as part of the front bumper. Oh, and the total of what ya posted roughly adds up to between $7,500 to about $9,500.

Not sure if any parts houses carry it or not, haven't looked into it yet. But there is always their website, www.por15.com hope this helps even if just a lil bit. -

Does that mean that the possibility of a roll over contest is out of the question? -
Geez, wonder the cost to build one like that. That's some extensive (and nice) work done to that MJ.

I used to have a 70 chevelle, beautiful cars they are. I like the duster even more though, them pics of the motor....

Looks good man. Just one questoin though. Does the place you had the rock rails made at have any plans of mass producing them? If so, I know a lot of people on here would like some. -
I know what ya mean there. I have a 10 year old brother that I make help me out when he's around, makes a world of difference not having to climb out from under the truck to grab something ya forgot to grab or didn't think you'd need.
-
That had to suck. All in all, looks like everyone had a good time.

Wow, going coil over on the XJ, now that's a write up I'd like to see, and maybe possibly down the road take ideas from.
