  1. I love the slider in mine, use it almost everyday along with the vent windows even though I have AC. AC is reserved for the really hot days when the temp is in the high 80s. The slider is also nice if you have people riding in the bed, which I frequently have. Pro tip, put like one drop of a silicone lubricant in the bottom track, after a few uses it should slide super well.
  2. I quite like my Fey bumper. A previous owner installed it. It appears that they used one set of bolts to a stock mounting point on the frame, then plug welded through to the frame from one of the other mounting bolt holes in the bumper. It's very solid, I've towed much heavier loads than I should with the bumper mount ball.
  3. Thanks I have an aftermarket bedliner that holds the water. I hope to remove it and get the bed spray in lined prior to winter.
  4. Mine is all original and I have a slight rake with the rear higher, the bed always collects water in the rain.
  5. Why thank you. So if I read your message correctly, you are saying to flip part of the mechanical shifter within the axle or to flip the incoming vacuum lines?
  6. This evening the Comanche received a new oil cap seal, and knock sensor. I don't know if it needed the sensor but I feel better knowing it's been replaced. Additionally I noticed that the rubber plug that connects the CAD to the vacuum lines was pretty loose, I'm going to need sort out what to do with that, I suspect it is part of the reason my CAD is so poor at engaging quickly.
  7. Haven't done much lately to the Comanche other than drive it. Went camping and showed it at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix car show. Did finally install the original 4.0Litre badge that was hanging out in the center console.
  8. I've been waiting since April, quite excited.
  9. My 90 Eliminator has a molded plastic shield that is held onto a few studs with nuts, however I'm am not sure if those studs are part of the tank or straps. The molded plastic shield covers the front end of the tank and a lot of the bottom, it might even be 2 pieces.
  10. I've wondered this myself. I've been considering fabricating up some wheel liners for mine. I'd probably do it out of carbon fiber or fiberglass.
  11. My truck was converted to R134a using the original compressor by the Jeep dealership that owned the truck before me. I added the conversion fittings from R12 to R134a and it works absolutely brilliantly on R134a. Don't ask me how I installed the conversion fittings, it was definitely the wrong way and I don't think I could have possibly made a larger mess if I tried. This info may not be useful but my point is a compressor swap may not be useful.
  12. I was successful in having Safelite replace the window in mine. Other than some nasty scratches they put in my scuttle panel, the new window is a nice upgrade.
  13. I'm a fan of Wix filters. I think I'm currently running quaker state 10W-30. Seems to have excellent oil pressure even at 254k miles. I'll typically buy any brand oil as long as it's not Supertec. I exclusively put 15W-40 Diesel oil in my 62 Austin Healey Sprite. I hadn't even considered on putting something like that in such a new engine as our 4.0Ls. I was always told the zinc was bad for the catalytic converter.
  14. This link may be of some assistance. http://cruiser54.com/?page_id=365
  15. The other day I rebuilt the driver's side vent window latch. I used to kiwk set JB weld to build up material around the portion that sits in the window to prevent rotation in the window. I let it set for 10 min prior to install to let it firm up and not actually bond to the window. Additionally I made a gasket for the inside of the window to space out the assembly to allow a tight clamp on the window. The button needed some adjusting and filing as many people in the past tried to rotate the latch without pushing the button in. Finally I added some weather stripping to the seals around the window to fill any gaps where air leaked in. The interior is now much quieter at speed, probably the best daily usability mod I've done yet.
  16. Why did you decide to go with the inner fender reservoir tank? Your Comanche looks good. I definitely agree, do trust anyone that says a vehicle has been taken care of.
  17. Yep, there aren't a lot of rules for each trim package other than some standard stuff they came with, all could be ordered with upgrades it seems. My 90 Eliminator is a 4x4, AX15 manual, with a LSD equipped Dana 44, none of which would have been standard options on an Eliminator to my knowledge. However to the point of this original post all Eliminators got the fancy full gauge package.
  18. I've been looking at that one for sale for over a year, price has come down a lot. If it had been a stick, I would have seriously considered flying across the country and driving it home. I did buy my first one in Los Angeles and drove it home to PA. And yes, Autotempest search is amazing. That is how I scoured the US for a few years looking for mine. I would have not found the craigslist ad for mine without it.
  19. That's amazing. I just jack job sealed up my driver's side one. Would love to have a brand new one. Quite the find. Hope you find more amazing stuff.
  20. For a price comparison, back in May I purchased my 1990 Eliminator, 4x4 AX15 with Dana 44 and AC. It's an awesome truck, was only missing cruise control, which I will eventually put in. It had a peculiar history, 3 owners 2nd one being the original selling Jeep dealer that used it as a parts runner for 15 years. It needed refreshing and the driver's foot well welded up. 251k miles, paid $9800. It wasn't worth it compared to many, but it had the options I wanted, fresh paint, new clutch and most importantly was just a few hours from me. It's impossible to find reasonably clean ones up near Lake Erie and the rust belt. You'll find the right one. Don't discount the older Renix ones, they still great engines.
  21. The Dodge Spirit had a a similar lack of gauges. My first Comanche, an 88 SporTruck had the same setup as your's. A previous owner installed a set of A pillar gauges, tachometer and coolant temp. I found them nice to have.
  22. Nice build. I purchased my Comanche because I just bought a farm that I am cleaning up. I really purchased the farm for the land to build a house on while simultaneously fixing things up and cleaning up junk. They make great farm trucks. The new owner of the first Comanche I owned purchased it to use as a farm truck too.
  23. I was wondering if it could be done from below. I have long skinny arms and can sneak them past the intake runner and get my hand on the cps from the top, I wonder if that is an option.
  24. Thanks! The most recent work has been knocking off a bit more of Cruiser's list. Just cleaned the connections to the ignition coil, it's the original with 254k miles on it. Also cleaned the head light connector and a few others. Would quite like to do the CPS advance mod, but am not quite sure how to get it out. I can see it, and can even get a hand on it but it's difficult. I wonder if I can get it out by feel from the bottom.
