I'd say god is trying to tell him something and he wasn't listening. I wouldn't wish this disease on anyone but I can't muster any sympathy for someone who disregarded every warning. I just hope his congregation doesn't kill any innocent bystander because of their stupidity.

I've seen a Corvette with a 6.2 diesel. The guy bragged about the mileage he got...

Nothing for me. But I'm doing fine and other people need the help a lot more than I do.

I'm less beholden to the straight 6. There were plenty of CJs using the GM designed V6 for a long time. The full size Jeeps had a couple varieties of straight 6's. Given all of the different engines that have been in Jeeps over the decades, I'm not excited about any one of them over others per-se. A GM V6 swap would be easier in that truck than a 4.0. And I ignore horsepower numbers. They are only measured at peak which doesn't tell you anything meaningful. The torque curve is all that really matters in how the truck performs. That still might favor the 4.0 but I could get on board with the supercharged 3.8.

In a word... no. Two core problems: 1. The 2.8 V6. It's just not a good engine. If I had that truck, my plan would include finding a mid 90's F-Body and swapping in the 3.4 V6/4L60E. And that's probably $10K at least when it's all said and done. 2. New paint. I'm always skeptical of used car dealers who paint cars and then put them up for sale. What got hidden? What are they covering up? How good of a paint job was it? What am I going to have to fix and do over? How soon before it starts peeling or fading? It's pretty in the pictures but there's no telling what gremlins lurk under the surface. It may be possible to give it a thorough going-over, starting with a Carfax. An Arizona truck wouldn't have much rust and that's a good starting point. But I'd want to verify that first.

For the 700R4/4L60 (up to 92) and early 4L60E (93-96), the Advance Adapters kit only comes with a transmission tailshaft. Only the '97+ adapter comes with an option for a different input shaft for the t-case. And converting the 2WD donor transmission will require a tailshaft swap no matter what so it's a bit of a moot point. You may as well do the kit with the new tailshaft.

Yeah, I can see how this would be useful. The armored vehicles are getting too big and heavy. This would fill in for the gap left between nothing and the big, heavy vehicle. It looks like it's not much more than a Gladiator with bolts ons. I imagine we'll see a bunch of these in other armies and maybe a few in the US armed forces.

"Social Justice Warrior". Someone who is religious about their social cause and gets in everyone's face about it. They have absolutely no sense of humor and tend to be very shrill when talking about their chosen topic. Examples include many people supporting LGBTQ.. whatever the acronym is now. But also I've been assailed by religious types going around knocking on doors during Halloween preaching against paganism, even yelling through the door that has been shut in their face. The topics can vary greatly but the personality traits are very common regardless of the cause they choose.

Is it easy to swap out bucket seats for a bench seat?
derf replied to MelB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I shipped a bench seat with Greyhound for a very reasonable price a few years back. You have to drop off and pick up at the bus station but it's a lot cheaper than you might think. -

Definitely a unique ZJ to have. They get a lot of grief from the Full Size Jeep crowd. Some of it is good natured ribbing. Some not so good natured.

I never saw it as a Canada only package. Someone who knows for certain should correct me if I'm wrong.
-
That package was available in 93 in the US.

When I bought mine, I bought a pair. Both in rough shape. The one with the really trashed bed is going to be built up. Not quite into a truggy but it's going to be built into a serious wheeling rig. I'm still tossing the idea around of even building a custom bed over just cutting up the beat up bed it has. The other one has some minor damage on one side but it's salvageable. I'm going to build that one into a milder truck set up to be a run-around truck or even daily driver to replace my 01XJ.

Children of the quarn.

That's only slightly thicker than the bondo on the bed of my 87.

So with a bunch of people stuck at home with nothing to do, I fully expect a big baby boom come December. And, of course, once we get to 2033, those kids are going to call themselves the quaranteens...

I've been involved in recovering trucks stuck like that and worse. You're not kidding about the suction holding the tires in place. It's less fun when the truck has hydrolocked. That's a big part of why I don't go mudding any more.

Mine are still sitting where they've been resting for a while. The whole buy a house, start working on the MJs plan has hit a snag...

Yeah, learning the radios does take a bit of work. One piece of advice that works well for me. Once you pick a major brand of radio (Kenwood, Yaesu, etc.), stick with that brand. Once you learn their system, going from one radio to another is easy. Trying to remember the commands between two brands of radios can be hard. They're all good radios so just pick one with the features you like and go from there. I've gone with Kenwood myself.
