Junkyards with Jeeps (add your finds to the list!)
BeaterComanche86 replied to 89 MJ's topic in The Pub
I’ll add these, there all LKQ’s so easily searchable on there site. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and they’ll have some 80’s-90’s Jeeps but it is rare, so @89 MJ if you want to add them to your list feel free but these aren’t Jeep hot beds. Baltimore 6201 Erdman Ave. Baltimore, Maryland 21205 Edgewood 1706 Pulaski Highway Edgewood, Maryland 21040 Hawkins Point 2801 Hawkins Point Rd. Baltimore, Maryland 21226 Jessup 8125 Washington Blvd. Jessup, Maryland 20794 Mt Airy 3923 Twin Arch Rd. Mount Airy, Maryland 21771 Also PA guys, add some of the yards up there, I know there’s gotta be some good ones! -
Your not missing much, just a chain pick and pull. I’ve gotten lucky with a few Renix XJ’s but there far and few between. Probably has a lot to do with where I live, most of the good stuff probably got crushed during “cash for clunkers”. Thus why I need to venture out to other states.

I like this idea a lot, there’s only 4 junkyards I know about near me and it’s RARE they have anything other than 2000’s Jeeps. Would be nice to know of a few family owned yards too, I’d rather support them than LKQ.

What the hell is this thing?
BeaterComanche86 replied to Brokeboi's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Try cleaning the attached terminals and connectors before you just buy a new one. They might just be dirty, I don’t believe these things go bad often. -
@krustyballer16 has a topic in the vendors section, I assume he’s still making them. The prices and whatnot are on the first post. As far as other brand and what’s good and what’s not I couldn’t help, I just planned to get his sliders when I was ready.

Welcome be sure to add your vin to registry to get the details of how your mj came from the factory. I’m pretty sure the 86’s didn’t come factory with the 4.0 so was it swapped in? Tons of great info and people here, read all you can.

I doubt there putting those bumper stickers on someone else’s Jeep, huge waste of those points there earning (sarcasm) I wish I never looked at their website, I’m going back under the rock...
-
Yeah never heard of it either, much more familiar with the Jeep wave around my way. I did check out their site which is basically about creating a way for Jeepers to easily connect, but you need $14.99 to get started with a 10 pack of ducks Here’s the points system which equates to dollars, only 75 points for a bumper sticker Whatever makes people happy but Ill stick to the wave.

89' Comanche: To buy or not to buy
BeaterComanche86 replied to munchamyguchi's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well maybe all you’ll need is some fresh gas and you’ll be cruising I’d still try to talking him down a little though. -

I’d wanna hear if it runs before I put up that kind of money but it seems to all be there besides the fog lenses and the bottom corner of the door. -
oooooooooooo.... repop tails might be close!
BeaterComanche86 replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I couldn’t imagine they wouldn’t make the housings as well but I’d still be happy with just the lenses. And be sure to sell your extra taillights now while demand is still high lol -

Next up and my current project is tracking down my issue of running rich, according to my REM. I started with the O2 sensor since mine would occasionally work but more often then not would either stay at a low or high value. Also tested to Ohms on the old one and was around 2.6 so I picked up one of these Ngk sensors, tested for the 6 Ohms and in it went. So it definitely helped but still doesn’t have her running 100%. I moved on to adjusting the TPS by following nicks/ “factory” process and got my idle at 1000 RPM’s give or take. Here’s the video I used but I’m sure there’s a safer way to do this: Again she was running better but still not all the way there. Next I moved on to the CPS and I wish I took pictures because that thing was caked in clutch dust and oil. Must have been at least a 1/4 Inch of gunk built up on that thing, I’m surprised my truck even ran. After cleaning it off it made a difference but it only got me to 75%. So I will press on and take a look at the fuel pressure regulator ,injector spray pattern, catalytic converter, ISM, distributor, spark plugs and wires. If anyone has suggestions feel free to share, I’m all ears. And some poser shots from one of the few unpaved roads around my way: -

Progress has been slow since going back to work but I’ve still been plugging away on small things. Started off by installing some door speakers and the foam baffles; Crutch field was nice enough to send me the connectors rather than having to splice to the factory wiring. Old: New: Sadly I forgot to take pictures of the new speakers installed but overall I’m happy with my purchase. They pack a nice punch for there small size, and fit like a glove with zero modification. Next up was replacing the driver door jam switch. My footwell lights only worked when I opened my passenger door so it was safe to assume the drivers door switch was bad. I’m terrible at taking pictures but the old one was corroded so I cleaned it up the best I could but still had no lights. In the trash it went and put one of these bad boys in: -
I’m in the same boat when it comes to bass and guitar, enough to amuse myself but for anyone listening it just sounds like noise. And @MiNi Beast pots, pans, and buckets is where it started for me. Never to late to buy or build your own kit.

Drums have been my instrument of choice for the last 17 years, I started when I was 11 as a way to blow off some steam but now I enjoy the challenge of trying different time signatures, and fills rather just hitting them as hard as possible lol. I also know my way around guitar and bass but never put to much effort into those. No band for me at the moment, still shaking off the rust from when I couldnt play for a few years.

Possible Comanche specific top, hard to tell from the pictures but maybe someone with a more trained eye can chime in. https://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/pts/d/hauppauge-1986-jeep-comanche-cap/7177775936.html

how to switch between the mobile and full versions of the CC site?
BeaterComanche86 replied to Pete M's topic in The Pub
On my iPhone 7 I can switch to desktop view by tapping the address at the top then click the two uppercase A’s to the left of said address and select “request desktop website”. The site looks the same to me but could help with slow upload speeds, also I’m having no issues with uploading pictures but hope this helps. -
This thread may be helpful, haven’t personally ordered this kit but those who have seemed happy.

I’d suggest @NickInTimeFilms scanner, It’s a very useful tool. https://nickintimedesign.com/product/renix-engine-monitor-ii/

Some OME shocks and springs make for a pretty good ride if your thinking of lifting it, but I didn’t think the stock suspension on the TJ was bad. Granted I usually lift or lower my vehicles so a comfy ride isn’t really a top priority of mine. But I was very pleased with how the OME set up rode.
