  1. Quick question (hopefully). Putting a new power steering pump in my 90 Comanche, 2.5l. When I disconnected the old PS pump high pressure line (top finger) this is what it looked like. New pump looks like bottom finger. I assuming i just need to take the nipple with the o-ring off the old high pressure line, then that long cylinder before the bigger nut will go in the pump, right? Any help is appreciated! Thanks
  2. See previous post if you want some background! So I'm at a loss.. replaced my starter relay, and the jeep is trying to crank over, but its slow af. Not drawing enough power is my guess. It'll only crank when its being jumped, and the neg is connected to ground, connect to the neg battery terminal and no power at all, lights, nothing. Took the battery out and it started my car just fine, but the MJ is being a b*@ch. Ideas?
  3. Short story real quick... So my jeep died while wheeling, and it eventually started up again. I drove it the next day, amd when I went to go home it wouldn't start. Clicked once, looked like battery was dead. Battery had 13 something volts but still wouldn't turn. Eventually i pulled on this cluster of wires with what looks to be a solenoid and it fired right up. So, what is this? Looks like the starter solenoid is connected to the starter, and this also controls all my lights and cluster, but I can't for the life of me figure out what exactly it is to replace it. Any help is appreciated!
  4. I gave it back as a core deposit, like a dumbass. I could go to a junkyard and find a new one but I don't want to waste time and money if its going to end up offset like the new one.
  5. Okay, so I'm lost. I put a new alternator in my 90 MJ, 2.5l. Even with the alternator snugged as far forward as it goes, its not centered with the other pulleys and the belt hangs off by 1/3rd. Anyone ran into this before, have any advice? The alternator was an exact replacement for the original, but it is offset. I'm stumped.
  6. Good to know! You know if the d35 rear and d30 front will fit 4.88s? I've read both online, some say yes, some say no, and I don't know which is right. Buy once cry once haha
  7. Maybe this is a dumb question to add, but I'm not real familiar with gearing and the math behind it. Would that affect being in 4lo and the speed/drive ability off road?
  8. Morning all, Its probably been asked but i couldnt find it so please excuse ANOTHER question about an underpowered jeep with too big of tires. I have 33's on my '90 2.5l and assuming it hasn't been re-geared, it should be 4.10 from factory. As one would guess, its a pig. Great off road but driving an hour each way is more tedious than the actual wheeling. Is there a better gear ratio i could swap to and make 5th gear useful, maybe even give this old girl a bit of pep in her arthritic step? I'm starting to get cobwebs around 5th gear.. too low of rpm at 60 (if i can even get there) and in 4th the engine is screaming like a freedom eagle on the 4th of July holding a 6er of Bud.
  9. I hadn't, but I'm gonna give it a good read right now!
  10. Good to know, thanks. Don't know too much about Comanches, still learning as I go.
  11. Thanks for the info! Is there any way to tell what sub-model of comanche it is? Or just a base? I doubt its a sportruck or pioneer or anything, right?
  12. My 90 MJ, 2.5l 4cyl, 4x4 with manual trans. Sitting on 33x12.5 wrapped around 15" wheels. It runs well enough, albeit underpowered for my taste. Located in WA state. Paint was bad so I rattle canned it to keep the rust off until I do more work and decide to fix the massive dents in cab/bed and do a proper paint job. Door stickers are gone, so i don't know any more than this, but its a fun little truck and makes me smile.
