Yah, whats up with the pink beadlock? Supporting breast cancer research all of the sudden? -
I'm still planning on being there on Saturday - at 10 am? :dunno:

I need a bumper. Can I have that one? Good to see things worked out well for you Rob. I saw your post about needing help and would have helped you out but I was already booked solid this week. Try and give me advanced notice next time - weekends are good too... :brows:

This is really strange but I can believe it. Wisconsin is a strange place... :teehee:

I'm going to be changing out the fluid in my 4wd trans soon. Does anyone know how many quarts I'll need off hand? - I don't have my book accessible right now. Thanks in advance.

Thats a little bit worse than I expected. Good Luck! -
I've thought about that. I still am thinking about it. I don't know. I'd like to take the wheels off this winter and polish them up. Maybe that will be my chance to figure out what I want to do. I do see your point though, makes lots of sense.

They are holding up good. The truck is no longer what I consider my daily driver now because I have the '90 2wd on the road to fill that role. The tires have seen two long trips so far this summer. Once for the move from Michigan to Wisconsin and another for the trip I took over labor day weekend. Tread wear is quite good. When I bought the tires and rims they supposedly had 5000 miles on them. By now I've at least put that many more miles on them, I'm probably somewhere in the 12,000 - 15,000 mile range now. I've got the brand new spare in the bed and comparing the tires to that one they have about 1/8" wear on them, hardly anything for a tread depth that is about 5/8" deep at its shallowest point when they are new. They haven't gotten any louder since when I got them that I can tell. Road manners are still very good. I had them re-balanced about a year ago now (the rims don't have an outer lip to mount wheel weights on so I have to use sticky weights, the only thing I don't like about the rims). A really remarkable thing to note is that since I have gotten the tires, already mounted on the wheels, I have not added ANY air to them. I don't know if this is because of the tires or the rims or the guy who mounted them, but they are holding air 100%. I haven't even had to air down to get traction, although I've never been in a REALLY tight spot with them yet that the tires were at fault. I've had them on rocks, sand, mud, over downed trees, through shallow streams and very light dustings of snow (summer tires). The performed good enough for me to be satisfied on each of those surfaces. Water puddles aren't a problem with hydroplaning (probably because of the tread depth). One area that I have noticed some wear is on the edge of the tread where the tread transitions into the sidewall. The rocks have shredded them a bit in this area, little stuff though, 1/8" chunks missing at most. Overall I am really satisfied with the deal that I got on these puppies and how they are performing for me. I consider them to be right up there with the BFG All-Terrain, just maybe a bit louder on the road. Hope that helps. - Brent

Yep, same spot as where my Dad and both Grandfathers had it at. I had this one coming sooner or later. :( I plan on taking it nice and easy after everything is done. I won't be able to do much of anything in January anyway with it being cold outside and all. I'm going to be changing out the whole set of tie rods on the '90 tomorrow. I'll let it take me all day. Thats the nice thing about having two trucks that are "turn key". One goes down and the other one sits ready to roll. I drove it up on the ramps tonight to get ready to take the tires off and I smelled some gas. Popped the hood and sure enough the injectors are leaking. So I came inside right away and I ordered the new set from Precision. Came back outside and started to take the tires off and found a tack in my tire. So I got that patched and we should be good to go. Tomorrow I can finally set out to do the tie-rods and hopefully nothing more pops up!

Good News - I'll be there for this and I will be able to help out where I can. Doc and I spoke yesterday and we came up with a tentative date in January to get me sewed back together. I guess the type of hernia I have is OK to live with for awhile, but I'm still getting it taken care of ASAP. Until then I just keep doing my thing and avoid heavy lifting.

Has anyone ever given the MJ a "full facelift"?
500 MJ replied to AutoMoto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm willing to bet that the reason for the dual fuel tanks is cause that section is grafted onto the MJ bed directly from the '97 + XJ body. It would make sense, tail lights already will bolt right up and so will all of the plastic on the bottom of the body. Personally I don't care for that look in the front and NO WAY in the back. I'm so glad I reverted my '90 back to the stock setup! -
Yah I'll be there if everything goes as planned. For those who don't already know I'm going to be going in for some surgery sometime in the coming weeks (hernia). So long as I don't get everything done that weekend I should be able to come out to be there for moral support. And yes I'll try to drive the '88 unless I am not able to drive it for some reason.

CrankShaftKid's 88 MJ (4wd swap)
500 MJ replied to CrankShaftKid's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I'd easily drop a good chunk of change to get my hands on your truck in a good economy. Right now, its so hard to tell. I'm fairly certain that you won't get as much out of it as you hope for unless you find that one in a million buyer who wants what you have and has deep pockets. I'd say your bottom dollar is around $2000. -

I'd make a safe bet that most (if not all) of those cars in the video were in that little corner of the junkyard that never gets crushed. Once the yard owners are done selling parts off of the cars, the chassis and everything else that is left will get sold off to guys like you and me. Maybe to run again or to donate panels to a car that is more intact. Going to the crusher - no way. :shake:
