Modern ECUs have a higher failure rate than the old ones and Renix really stood behind the whole test the ECU as a last diagnostic resort if it is suspected to be bad.

There’s a very special tool and Renix scanner that would test the ECU. I have the ECU tester but not the MS-1700 scanner. So if someone has both and can loan them then you can test it. You could also test it for power across the pins. But that’s all I got for testing that sort of thing. I’m sure an oscilloscope would help too.

Mopar still has plugs for our trucks. I used Bosch Platinum plugs once and never had an issue with them. I might have even seen an improvement in fuel economy from using them but that was about three years ago.

As we all say, the build sheets are about 90% accurate with reused codes over the years. And as Pete will say, take it with a grain of salt.

Have you swapped the plugs and see if anything different happens? The key in buzzer seems to be a pain to get working again once you tear into the column.

Someone ran into the same issue except with their oil pressure sensor/sender and they were able to remove it with some extraction method. Maybe you can try one of those bolt extractors if you have them?

Funny you say that. In the digital parts catalog Chrysler says the newer lower dash panels deleted that vent for better air flow but the block off plate is removable and the vent can be put back if the customer would like to have that back. I'm not sure when the change happened because my MJ is solid with the vent while my XJ has the removable version but my guess is the PO replaced the lower panel due to the ash tray hinges breaking? Just a guess. But it is still crazy to find some things laying around at dealers.

Some crazy things you wouldn't believe still lurk around at dealers. If I had say an AMC Eagle parts book or old Jeep and Chrysler books, I bet you i could find some dealer would have some parts sitting on a shelf and they'd have no idea it is sitting there. Like one guy at a dealer in Ohio had no idea he had XJ Wagoneer tails in stock and he is the parts manager and an MJ guy.

Tailgates are a pain to get dents out. I used a stud welder and I think I needed something to thread in and use a slide hammer on that as that metal is tough. I was able to get some top dents out using a rod and hammer and go in from the handle area but that's not applicable to where your dent is.

Hmmmm you got me thinking. I wouldn't know if their would be cons on this idea but I'm gonna definitely keep my eye on this one. I don't see why a small block wouldn't be a better viable replacement for the links but that's just me.

Nope, I bought a whole brand new pack. They make new ones for us. Although the only problem I had with General Springs pack is the alignment stud was too big for the alignment hole so I swapped the old stud into the new pack.

General spring makes leaf springs for our trucks in both 4 leaf and Metric ton package. I had a broken leaf on my drivers side too, broke in the same spot as yours and I replaced it with one from general leaf and I noticed a difference.

I would just use ordinary screws that will fit inside the holes and make contact with the metal on the housing and you should be good. I wouldn't worry about sourcing the jacknuts and doing it that way.

Depends on which set up you have. If it was dealer installed, I imagine they just used ordinary domed screws to hold it in place and they are course threads. I am willing to bet that only the factory used the nutserts. When I installed mine I just drilled two holes and used the screws that came with it.

This. Except you’re not going to find these lights cheap unless some ford owner sells off a pair cheap. I went with a set of vintage Sears Roebuck quartz halogens lamps which actually are now rare too. But any rectangle lamp will suffice and fit the 80’s look of our MJs.
