Found another one I think I'm just gonna catalog the odd ducks here and gather some theories.

Figured as much. A lot of stuff from the 80's and 90's Jeeps seems to be lost with time.

Could be a Chrysler, could be an AMC screw up. I see those two recalls too. Wonder what the brake booster is about. Shame that the global recall guide actually doesnt have any of the old AMC recalls and early Chrysler ones on file.

1JTBL6511GT000763 This VIN is weird. Not in the sense in we can't retrieve its build info but more like date and service date. So this VIN shows a build date of 5/14/87. Yet it bears a GT which is 1986. Ok, could be a special order MJ that was waiting on a piece or two. It comes equipped with the 2.1L Renault. Could've been waiting on the engine if there was a shortage. Or the cargo lamp or the AX5 with bell house it was equipped with, who knows? here's where the conflict happens: How was it built in May but in service in March? Really strange. Que X-files.

Keep in mind we’re talking about a truck that was built in the 80’s that really never conformed to any of Europe’s automotive standards. Try searching for a possible location on an XJ frame as those sold very well in Europe and can give you a general idea if AMC and Chrysler did stamp the full VIN on our trucks.

What does your VIN plate say about the paint code?

What I would do is search for Bendix, 80's Ford or 80's GM belts. Bendix actually made most of the American automotive seat belts. I learned that Ford used the same belt company as denoted by the later star burst on the buckle button and GM used them commonly. Luckily you don't have the AMC button belts otherwise you would have hell of a time finding those. Also glad to see another AZ member.

Well, I should've done this a while ago but I bought another NOS coolant cap for the 2.5L and decided to research the stampings on the under side. Well if you search up 48-400 cap under the Al Gore youll find the cap in many colors and materials. Thought id share this little discovery for when the cap supply runs low.

I don't know much about Europe's automotive registration but this is an 80's truck we are talking about. Our across the pond members have had issues registering because of tail lights but back then the MJ tail lights didn't require the amber turn signal over there like they require it now. Just blame the U.S. for the red tail lamps.

Well most, if not all MJ's and XJ's were built here and then exported to Europa. So AMC|Jeep and Chrysler still followed the U.S. automotive regulations when it came to building cars. Never understood why Europe is so finicky about car registrations.

Do you not have a plate on the fire wall or the radiator support?

I may be color blind but are you sure? The second clean picture looks like a good match. Either way your plastic parts could also be faded too but who knows.

Bell house is under your truck, its the housing for the clutch and often looks like a bell and its what mates the transmission to the engine. You could pour brake fluid down the master and see what happens. Just listen for a leak on the ground if your slave failed.

Lol, when working in parts long enough, you truly get to see Chryslers questionable expense choices aside from a $100k SUV.

Bad cap wouldn't be the cause of failure. The purpose of the cap is to keep debris and air from making the brake fluid go bad on ya.

I just talked with @CoastChief about your issue and he told me what you found. Once you get good at dropping the trans under 40 min it gets old. Pretty much all slave cylinders are junk right out of the box. Biggest problem with them is the U-clips that hold the metal hoses to the slave. If those arent replaced with something better or pushed down more securely, the pressure from the clutch master and lines will cause one of those internal slave lines to fail. Check the bell house and see if theres a mass amount of brake fluid dripping right there. I had been in your spot once where I lost all fluid and the u-clip popped out and popped the hose out of place. Also check the lines too for a failure from the master to the union fitting for the slave cylinder.

Lol, I still need to replace the passenger side bracket, but after the whole bolt ordeal with the drivers side, I am very hesitant to replace it lol.

1500'S have coil suspensions for the rear.

Yes, this is a build sheet/date and body code that is to your VIN. I work at a dealer and can get access to that info. Fiatslug has all the parts books to easily decode your VIN's trim and package level. No problem!
