More I’m digging into emissions stuff, the more I’m finding that’s either weird from the factory that contradicts the diagram on the firewall and finding stuff that the POs removed to just get the car running and driving. Luckily the stuff I’m missing, the PO of Chunk kept all of it when he simplified the emissions, those parts will be used here in this build/resto. So now I’ve gotta dig out the big ole box of carb stuff to start throwing parts at the Eagle and get the emissions stuff right so we can get it registered. Hoping it passes emissions.
  2. I can safely say that 84-86’s are not for a beginner. Those years kinda require a bit more knowledge and some dealer manuals. Yeah 86 is TBI for the 2.5L but even it is full of one off oddities.
  3. That reminds me, I’m looking for where the cruise control vacuum line goes and the HVAC from the firewall.
  4. I will definitely keep that in mind. I think I’ve got it figured. I learned last night that I was missing the solvac or idle stop solenoid, I found it on the original carb with the car and I saw why it wasn’t put back on, it’s broken in both the vacuum port and wire. What sucks is I can’t separate the two, otherwise I’d use the one I have from Chunks old set up that the PO yanked off. I found new ones on eBay I’ll probably snag to make this just a stock build. I appreciate that!! Interesting enough 86 did away with some of the stuff making emissions more simple like the air pump stuff. I’ll let you know if I run into something that im missing and can’t get new.
  5. The black one looks like it’s for cruise control to the servo. The blue one should be a atmosphere vent for the vacuum to the 4wd. I think.
  6. Emissions is making me despise living in the valley. Doing all the lines that the previous owners deleted just to get the car running.
  7. While goofing around, exploring and doing some more test driving I decided to address the rear cargo area. It one time had the cover. Decided to try an XJ cargo cover and found out that it fits perfectly!

  9. Decided to address the nameplate issue. My goal is to not really touch this car until I get both Jeeps assessed like Chunk and the leaf spring bushings and shackle. Little Red and the track bar. But I have a list going of what needs to be fixed on this car. Im wondering what I got myself into haha.
  10. If it’s still stock for the drive train, it should have an NP207. Unless it was swapped.
  11. It kinda varies on how tucked into the main harness it is. Best way I can say to locate it without going to my Jeep while im working is there’s a slot labeled “ign” on the fuse block itself. Should have a brown connector plugged into it that will be a black and white wire that should travel a short distance to a inline fuse connector with a fuse that should be pink in color.
  12. Underside of my hitch. Honestly this is the nicest survivor I have. Now chunk is by far the most luxurious vehicle I own and that’s how I like it.

  15. Yeah! Previous owner knew what he had. He was bummed to sell it but couldn’t take it with him to California. The mud flaps are definitely a nice score. I joked that I more or less bought it for the mud flaps haha.
  16. Far less of a headache to install then bleed. You’d have to get the master in and route the first hardline down and then you’d have to finagle the hardline that goes up and over the transmission with the slave cylinder and get the slave cylinder in place. And you might have to lower the transmission to get some room to do all that. Yeah just piece it together down there unless the transmission is out right now. Then I supposed you could do it as an all in one of the transmission is out.
  17. So the fuse is connected to a white with black tracer in the fuse block. Follow it and it should have a 3 or 4 amp fuse in it. I can see LEDs being an issue.
  18. Ahhh cruise control. It’s simple, yet complicated when first diving in. So the turn signal switch has nothing to do with cruise. The turn signal stalk with the cruise switches in it actually has a wire for those switches that runs down to a harness and that harness has other things plugged into it. There’s an inline fuse. I’d check that. The module isn’t know you exactly die but they are getting up there in age. Vacuum lines rot and crack, check the hardliners and rubber lines. The dump valve could’ve come out of adjustment. Located above the brake light switch. servos rarely die but they can. There’s some starting points.

Wife liked driving @89 MJ’s Eagle enough to wake up one morning and say “if you want an Eagle we can go get this one down in Tempe.” I thought I was dreaming or hearing things while being still groggy from waking up. But she was serious. So here we are with an Eagle. This is to be my daily daily. Retire both Jeeps and let them be fun vehicles. I’ll do pics and specs later. But for now. I wanted to start the thread.
  21. Ive been following your thread for a while. To watch the 2.8L come out and watch the 3.4L go in has been alot of fun. Love the bracket on the alt for the heater hoses.
