I hate to say it but it seems like no effort went into selling this MJ to anyone. It was tossed away like a used rag. -
Ok, a quick google showed me that that stuff is R12 and also worth a quick buck too believe it or not so you must have some old cans of that stuff. Anyways, the system needs to have two things, 1.) mineral oil in the system for R12 to flow with and 2.) new O-rings all around. I think most modern-day AC o-rings can be used for either 12 or 134. Replace the o-rings, double check that the condenser is free and clear of PAG oil, replace the dryer if that hasnt been done as that is essentially your 'filter' for the whole AC system and you had it exposed to the elements for who knows how long. Has the system been converted to 134 before going back to 12?
-
Personally, I would never ever use any AC components exposed to the elements for an unknown amount of time(even though I used an evap but havent had any ill effects.) If youre going back to R12 based set up, you will need new O-rings, from my understanding, the 134 o-rings should work just fine but if you havent serviced all the o-rings, it is recommended that you should since the system has been discharged and exposed. Does your Freeze 12 set up the same as R12? If so you might have oils mixing with the 134 condenser if any oils were still left in it. Mineral oil and PAG don't mix.

This has to make you wonder what used ones are worth then. So do we need to start looking at Chrysler vehicles of the same vintage as our Jeeps? -

I never noticed a difference when I ordered the standard style ones. -
factory off road package?

Crown doesn’t make much for the MJ. If you want rear springs for the MJ, you’ll have to go to generalsprings and get the metric ton leafs for an extra lift. -

factory off road package?
eaglescout526 replied to motownXJdad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes. There was an off road package. It consisted of metal skids and tow hooks. -
Follow cruisers tips on cleaning grounds. Then clean all terminals connector to the alt and starter relay. You want to eliminate as much resistance as possible. Also we recommend to get the headlight harness upgrade so your lights aren’t being powered by a 30 year old switch, but by a relay instead. You should see an increase on the volt gauge but it might not be enough to please you. It also depends on what’s all running too like your stereo, AC, fog lamps, cargo lamp, all the main lights on the outside of the MJ.

No, they aren’t. But then again something could’ve popped back up. Hell I thought all the MJ rear flaps were gone. Looked up the part number for them for giggles one day and sure as hell another one had popped up at a dealer. So stranger things have happened. -

I. Hate. Pool. Stuff. Course half of it is my fault I screwed up the threads on the motor shaft. Never fails. But I found a pool pump repair shop today. They hooked me up with a used motor shaft for $25. Sweet deal. Lubed up the bearings and threw the motor back together. Put it back to the filter assembly and 5 minutes later in primed! Yay. Oh hey is that water coming from the shaft area? Dammit…motor comes out again, remove impeller to find I put the spring seal on back wards. Ok fixed that, put it back together. 15 minutes later I’m primed again and running. Oh hey there’s a water fountain coming out of the pump to housing crack. F—-. Motor comes out of housing again. Remove giant O-ring, clean it, lube it, put it back together. Third times the charm aaaaaand we are still running. Feels good to have that done. Now I gotta figure out why the pool light keeps tripping the GFI. Oh also my father helped me install a light in the parts room so now it doesn’t look like I’m off to the mines every time. -

Well if you have the 2.5L with a manual, you’ll have the AX4.
