Ohhhhhhhh. Sounds like to me the system may not have any refrigerant in it if it doesn’t kick on. That being said if you jump the low pressure switch and it doesn’t engage the clutch and move the pulley then the relay could be bad. Now are you absolutely certain this system is still charged?
-
I remember that issue. Damn California and it’s prop 65 thing.
-
What do you mean by inside of the compressor? Are you referring to the clutch on the pulley?
-
Well the compressor is controlled by a relay in the Renix relay center(I don’t know which one it is in the factory set up, cruiser has a pic of it). If you jump that it should engage the clutch and probably get it to spin. That being said if you do this and the system is out of refrigerant, do NOT run it for long. Hell 3 seconds to see the compressor move and hear it should be enough.

We thought of this and you could be right….but we don’t know. I did fix the pool light though. It was half submerged with water. It’s weird I put the lamp back together how I found it but apparently it wasn’t the right way so I put the gasket on with the lamp housing and it’s been fine since. -
That one according to the parts catalog is a superseded number from an 87-88 ECU which in turn fits all years from 87-90.

Wow……Guess people don’t know how much this sensor cost but that is a smoking deal…bizarro I feel bad now.

Bet not many of ya can say you robbed an AC unit for its blower assembly to throw in their garage for circulation. Also up next will be a new kitchen sink as I am about ready to throw the poorly installed and assembled sink out into the back yard. Which will end up being used as an outdoor sink for the outdoor kitchen. -
Replacement AC compressor
eaglescout526 replied to ktmall07's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Maybe I have it wrong on the model number for the 700 series. Basically one is a 5 piston model and the other is a 7 piston. So the 709 is probably the replacement model for what you have. -
Shouldn’t have to remove the column at all.

Replacement AC compressor
eaglescout526 replied to ktmall07's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sanden 508 or 708 compressor will do. You can always put power to the clutch of the Compressor and crank it and see how it feels in terms of its internals moving around -
Oh shoot, must’ve missed you’re first response. So pulling the cluster out is easy. There’s four screws holding the dash bezel in place. Remove them and you’ll need to gingerly finagle the bezel out of its hole. once that’s removed, getting to the cluster will be cake. But to remove the speedo, you might have to either crawl underneath the dash or get the cluster maneuverable to where you can depress the metal retainer holding the speedo cable in.

If I recall correctly, the running lights and instrument illumination are all tied into the same circuit.

I didn’t even know there was an illumination relay. That being said do you have any other lights that don’t come on? Like interior or running lights? Do the indicator lights come on on the cluster? Like turn signal, brake light and high beams?

Figuring out the numbers and other meticulous data for our MJs might be challenging since Jeep went through Chryslers hands during the MJ production and that flood in the basement didn’t help either. Isn’t there some sort of website or some sort of auto numbers specialty group that has the data? Like if someone wanted to know how many variants of their say 79 firebird with the 6.6L auto with AC and power steering was produced from the GM factory, they would be able to find that number.

I have posted a question in the pub about my PC. It looks like my hard drive PCB has a failed capacitor, it seems like the hard drive does it’s initial boot but the BIOS will not detect it. Funny, the DOS type system on the board detects it but says the OS is missing and swapping to another PC or even putting windows 10 on another drive won’t see the hard drive. I suspect a failed PCB.
-
My question is, does this look like a capacitor failure? Judging from pics I have seen of this board on the internet, it looks like a failure of some kind and it’s preventing my hard drive from being read. I ordered a donor board but I just want a second opinion.
