Project Bitchin "MANCHEE"
Smokeyyank replied to Smokeyyank's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Finally got around to installing my REM. Got a TPS issue I need to figure out. Nice finally having a "easy" way to know what's going on. I also picked some decent turbines and got some JKS lower control arms and drop brackets cheap. The direction I'm leaning for a build is a restomod. 31s, little lift, possibly a LS swap and some other things. First, I need to part out the project MJ in the garage, finish the WJ build and then I might be ready but I'll keep stashing parts until then. -
Something not right. The track bar is not bolted to the bottom bracket and while it's straight with the drag link the tie rod is not and it should be parallel to the ground. It should look more like this. All track bars are "bolt on" (uncles it's something fabbed), biggest difference is whether you move to a double shear or keep the TRE style connection. Double shear is a lot better on lifted rigs.

What are you looking for (beater, resto mod, crawler, original) and where do you live? 86s are all over the damn place but as you get higher in years they are harder to find.

CO is pretty easy for towing. Just have brake lights and don't have your stuff flying off and you shouldn't have issues Assuming you'll just be on i25 so your worst part will be going through Denver, rest is easy.

Help on purchasing 1987 Jeep Comanche
Smokeyyank replied to dwkgonzales's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
5.5k is pretty aggressive for that. Closer to 3 or 4 would be a deal. Rust is the biggest issue to look for rest are all easily fixable jeep things with tools, patience and learning. -

Saw this today at Costco. Probably the only Ford I would ever droll over and want. Also saw a bunch of sweet rides doing the Crown rally through Vail this morning.

I'm out of town for the week but can shoot some over when I'm back.

Gotcha, I have no info on the spare pump. The pool was there when we bought the house and there was some spare parts that were in there. You're welcome to have it. Not sure what shipping costs would be but I'm in 80127

2WD WJ knuckle swap for MJ?
Smokeyyank replied to WranglerMangler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What year is the WJ? The only upgrade are with the akebono on 02-04 IIRC. I would find early D30 knuckles to get better brakes if that's what you want to do. But honestly I'd just do the booester upgrade and get some decent brake pads. The 42re is junk. Nothing else is worth getting. -

Comanche Ultra4 pit rig
Smokeyyank replied to G23crawler's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Looking forward to the build. JK axles are dumb money for what they are. I'd either get a HP30 and 8.25 built up or look for a HP44 and 9 rear. You'd probably have to narrow them as WMS is wider. -
Nickintimes has a YouTube film documenting the process. It's not just a few sensors. You'll also need a newer power steering pump since the renix won't bolt up new exhaust manifold and other odds and ends. My project MJ had this swap. Honestly I'd go with what Cruiser is saying. He's probably forgot more about jeeps than most will ever know
