Rear main seal damage.....
SatiricalHen replied to Wounded_Fighter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I’ve seen them cracked like that before without leaking. What caused the leak the guy had was the seal put in backwards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I had a new windshield put in my Comanche when I got it and at the time I didn’t know about the late model rubber trim upgrade. Well now we’re here and I don’t want to cut the window back out. Does anyone know if the rubber trim can be installed without removing the windshield before I break all the clips taking my trim off just to find out I’m up the creek. Was feeling froggy so I finally swapped in my intermittent wipers which is a huge ordeal Very convenient to be able to just pop the door off and it’s completely out of the way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Did the 97+ wiper arms, new wiper blades, new wiper bushings, a DIY antenna delete thing since I still can’t find a factory antenna delete plug and it got a side hood prop because I got tired of the annoying front hood prop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I was thinking about doing brakes, steering and ball joints this summer and I can’t decide if I stick with factory stuff because I haven’t really had an issue locking up the tires with the single diaphragm booster and stock calipers and rotors. I’ve contemplated doing the WJ big brake swap, but I don’t know if it’s really that big of an advantage for stockish size tires Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I have a pair of rear ones and a front one. Not in great shape, but not too terrible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve seen quite a few in junkyards, but they all look like they’ve leaked all inside the Jeep. I’ve heard of putting wd40 or something on the glass then putting a bead of rtv on the rubber seals then closing the windows to make them seal better, but then the rtv doesn’t stick to the glass. I did what he did, using the measurements he provided, but I kinda turned the crank some so the holes landed on the flat spot instead of bending it. The crank pokes out far enough to not weld or anything. I don’t like the newer style cranks so I’m trying to figure out how to get the old style ones to work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I had manual windows and don’t mind the manual windows so I stuck with what I had. It wasn’t too bad once I fully committed. I need to adjust the passenger window some and it’ll be good to go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I think I finally fixed my gas leak between the roll over valve grommets and JB welding the return tube on the gas tank. Also, it’s gotten a single pane rear window and I committed further to the single pane life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I thought the only leak from my tank was the over flow grommets, but I dropped the tank and looked everything over and the fuel return appears to be cracked at the sending unit. It looks like it’s maybe soldered on? How should I go about fixing this, or should I just buy a new one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I auto crossed my Comanche with a blown stabilizer. If you’re really set on keeping one I’d weld some tabs onto the beam axle and mount it under the drag link. In my opinion a tight quicker ratio steering box would make a lot more difference than a good steering stabilizer for autocross oh and a smaller steering wheel. I found my self really struggling to keep up just spinning the wheel back and forth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Personally I haven’t had a steering stabilizer on my lofted Cherokee in 4 or 5 years and the steering stabilizer in my Comanche the shaft is rusted and I’d guarantee everything has leaked out and it doesn’t actually do anything. I’d just do a custom trackbar and ditch the steering stabilizer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was thinking a pocketable tool or something, but I’ll let it slide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Alright, here’s the game. You are going to a junkyard. No specific part you’re after, a junkyard you’ve never been to before. You can only bring one single tool to the junkyard. What do you bring? What is the “most useful” tool in your opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I finally found a Jeep with a fixed column and intermittent wipers. This truck has cruise control, but I don’t care about cruise control. Can I find an intermittent wiper stalk that has no cruise control and stick it in? Basically, is cruise control its own thing and I can just ditch the cruise stalk and wire, or does it go through the switch too? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got the new exhaust in and it sounds a lot better. I think there might be a little bit of a leak at the header to front pipe connection, but I’ll tighten it up after driving it a few miles like they recommend. It could just be valve train noise too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I believe there may be a tan one at the junkyard near me. I’m trying to go Friday and can check if they have it/if it’s in decent shape. I assume Cherokee and Comanche are probably the same? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
