Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. After a little looking I saw that. But it was a later style thermostat housing than the truck would have come with. Never having seen the cutout before (1st 4.0 I've worked on) I thought they may have modified the head to make the TH work on it. Glad they didn't. Definitely #s. There was also a bit of writing in paint pen on the head, so may not be original? Sure I'll find out in time.
  2. Shamelessly stolen from Cruisers technical pics. I dream of getting rid of the fusible links, and this stuck out as a good thing to have.
  3. Thanks, all. It's back together. That cut out looks like some BS though.
  4. It looks pretty solid, though I'm a little curious why they would stamp numbers in a mounting surface like that. Is there something else you're referring to?
  5. PO put on a later style thermostat housing, and when I popped it off there's this lovely little cut out on the side of the head. That can't be right, can it? Assuming it's not right, can I get away with it like this?
  6. So the ac compressor s/b on the other side of the engine. But the aux fan relay should be right about here. I don't have AC, and this is the first jeep anything I've dinked with. So, to be certain... is this plug related to the aux fan that is comes on when the AC compressor engages? Or is it related to some other aspect of the AC, like the compressor clutch? Again, I'm just trying to make sure i don't go sideways. If i can misunderstand something, i likely will.
  7. Pretty simple question here, my truck had neither a AC nor a heavy duty package. This means it has no auxiliary electric fan. I'm getting ready to revamp the whole cooling system, and I'd like to put that electric fan in. So two questions. Anybody ever put in just the electric fan and delete the mechanical fan and clutch? And is this the factory harness that would go to the AUX fan relay? It came capped and tucked behind the washer fluid bottle on DS inner fender.
  8. Must be a lot beyond you? Nothing wrong with s basic truck, especially if you're fortunate enough that it has the support of a yuuuuge jeep community. Digging my 2x auto, 4.0 Hauls what i need it to, doesn't waste my time on trails/ in mud, doesn't set my wallet on fire... well, yet. 4x is rock bottom of my mod list though.
  9. Read a bunch of threads about them, but they're all old. So what replacement seatbelts did you go for? Cherokee 2 door or 4 door? We're they ready to install, or was there a bunch of rigging and fanagling? And where'd you get em?
  10. So.... i read three or four threads on seat belts, but they're all 10 or 12 years old. These seem as closer as any, and the prices seem similar across the web. They pretty much what you're talking about? https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/Q8496P-2DR-LE.html
  11. Beer cans behind the bondo to fill the rust holes. I know a guy who owned a shop for 40+ years. He helped me buy an old car once. Tapped the outside with a magnet every 6 inches. The guy could swindle.
  12. PO just drilled new holes as close to the originals as they could. I'm not impressed.
  13. Ouch, Pete. I'm out of tan duct tape, ok? There's a quarantine on, and anything that comes in rolls is sold out. I did put twist pins in the headliner today, so i have that going for me.... I may be drinking.
