College Budget 1987 MJ Build

Just cause really. I have never done brakes or ball joints on the truck and I’m sure the ball joints are oem and the brakes have seen better days. I figured if I’m spending the money to do brakes and ball joints really the only cost difference is $50 or so at the junkyard to get knuckles and calipers I would think. I have a pile of unit bearings and broken stub shafts from my Cherokee so I’m sure I could find something in the pile that would work. I don’t need more braking power. I’m sure I have plenty of brake to lock up the tires on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

So I was thinking, could I WJ knuckle swap the Comanche and just cut the upper arm off the knuckle and keep using my factory steering like it is? If so would be a cheap big brake kit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thanks, I’m supper happy with the look of the windows. I can’t decide if I want to put some of the stickers on the back window I used to have or not because it just looks sleek without them. I’d like to have a low profile black tool box, but those cost money and the one I have was in the truck when I bought it. I keep going back and forth about putting a quieter muffler on it to enjoy highway driving more, or leave it how it is because it sounds pretty mean. I also still need to get rid of the tick in the engine that drives me absolutely crazy. I have no clue what is causing the tick, but it is terrible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I don’t know why I’m not getting notifications anymore when people post on my threads or send me messages. Anyway, it sounds like no other 4.0 I’ve heard. I get asked all the time if it’s V8 swapped or what motor is in it. I need to get a good clip of it driving because it sounds interesting driving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
That was my plan. I plan to mock up before I install either in the truck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I want to 242 swap mine with an ax-15. I’ve been looking for a 4wd trans for a while Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don’t know xj spring perches are wider than Comanche spring perches and it looks to me like the leaf springs are bowing in so maybe relocated, but not relocated to the right spot. Hard to tell with the one picture of the underside in the back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did a quick little video showing how the exhaust sounds and how the truck looks, really digging the look of the one piece tinted windows personally. Let me know if y’all would like for me to take some more videos of other stuff Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Here’s a video of it on trail 16 at windrock, not the best video, but we only stopped to video places that we didn’t walk right up. Unfortunately there is more motor troubles after this trip and I’ll probably be pulling the stroker out and sticking a junkyard motor in like I should’ve in the first place. Best place honestly has probably been lkq or marketplace part outs. Just gotta get to lkq fast. You know what they have before you go and they get quantity. There aren’t many good places that I’ve found in SC. There’s a guy down in Georgia that I’ve seen pop up a lot on Facebook with parts seems like he’s got a few jeeps. So if I needed something I’d probably try to find him again and send him a message. My plan is to just start buying my own parts rigs whenever I have somewhere to put them. Hopefully someone else knows some better places to go in SC area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve been recently and unfortunately it’s the same jeeps that were there when I started going 3 years ago. They haven’t gotten any new jeeps in a while. They’re starting to get a lot more late model stuff. All the jeeps there are stripped or been sitting without doors so long nothing is of use anymore. Not the place I would go for Jeep parts anymore. Got it all out and back together again. The guy at the machine shop said the oil gummed up for some reason and caused a blockage in the oil galley. He said he’s been having a lot of issue with rotella oil recently and won’t warranty any motors that have run it. So now I’m running vr1 in it. If anyone wants to see it in action here’s a YouTube video from my club that it’s in. I think it may be in the morris mountain and harlan videos as well. If you like what you see, like and subscribe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am still looking. Shoot me a message with the price if you’re willing to part with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve heard 2wd Cherokee driveshafts may work out. I’ve never checked to find out yet as my Comanche is still 2wd and I haven’t started a 4wd swap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hoping someone here might have one or know where to source one. I believe 97-01 Cherokee is the more efficient blade design, but I’m guessing I might be able to use whatever year frame and stick the motor and fan from a newer style one in. I don’t know if that made sense, but looking for a RHD electric fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking for a 4wd AX-15 on a budget. I have a 2wd ax-15 that is external slave without the bellhousing I can trade or partial trade. The trans doesn’t need to have a bell housing or a shifter. I have a few other things I might could trade, but it would only be enough for part of it at best. Let me know what you have and what you’d be willing to trade for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Judging by the rust on the outside I’m assuming the reflectors are toast. I can take them apart and find out though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I found these on a Jeep and I grabbed them, but the only thing that are good on them is the lenses. I’m just wondering if I should grab more in this shape if I see them, or if it was a waste pulling them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There was a seller on eBay that made white panels for the switches, hvac controls and the likes and I asked if they would make black ones with different emblems over the switch and they said that they sell so many white ones they don’t care about making the black ones. Said they were even textured like factory. Very unfortunate they wouldn’t broaden their market. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got this switch panel from a buddy and I’m planning to use cargo light switch to run some led lights under the bed rails to give a clean factory look on the dash and give some good light for getting crap out of the bed. I have a cargo light, but I don’t know if I have the guts to drill holes in my cab. There are a few companies that make the over lays for these switch panels in white and I was trying to talk to one guy and see if they would make a black one with like a fan and an engine or something like that because I like having the factory look, but I’d also like to have the fan on a switch just cause and I still haven’t fixed my random no start issue so a switch for the starter. Anyway that was a long ramble for a very insignificant modification. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Some rubber sheeting I bought on amazon. I have a bunch left over from that. It’s a little thicker than the factory stuff though. I used a couple screw drivers and carefully popped the side tabs out then go and pop the bottom tabs out and slide down kinda. I’ve popped 3 or 4 sets of them out now. Let me see if I can find the amazon order and find out exactly what I actually ordered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
