Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

are these 2 prong or 3 prong. I would check if My jeep wasnt 200 miles away Also what should I do if a connector looks like or is missing pieces? Planning ahead for when I get to work on my jeep again? @cruiser54

I know other states have certain regulations but I couldnt find any for Florida and I even asked the DMV and they said its just a privilege because your vehicle is 30yrd or older

Was thinking out loud... some ideas are best not spoken lol. I will order some bump stops and shocks to help finalize the rear suspension

No fuel after a day of driving
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I put in 5 gallons thinking my sending unit wasn't registering... still no luck I plan on ordering a new fuel pump and filter. I disconnected the fuel line that comes from the tank to the filter and tried cranking the jeep and no fuel what so ever came out -

I wasn't able to check for power because I couldn't find my electrical tester. I did check the ground and reclean it. -
What is very frustrating is the fact that I was driving my comanche all day this past Saturday (4/6/2019), I got back to my house and parked it. I got in it the next day (4/7/2019) and the jeep would not start. It ended up being that the engine was not getting fuel. I checked everything I could besides pulling out the fuel pump to check connectins. still no luck. I had just replaced the fuel pump in December. Can it go bad that fast? its a Delphi pump

Maybe I could change my shocks mounts. I wanted to keep them up out of the way from getting hung up on different things, but if its an issue I can lengthen them below the axle
-
I will try this Thanks for the info. I know I swapped in a new turn signal switch behind my steering wheel so that is checked

What is also very frustrating is the fact that I had no turn signals for a while but my hazards still worked, so when I went to swap the steering wheel I swapped the turn signal switch thinking that was the issue. I put a brand new one in there and to no avail. My hazards still work but still no turn signals. "Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build

Just wanted to update the thread with some pictures and info. First and foremost, I got the 5.13s installed front and rear (with a spartan locker in the front, just need a locker for the rear now) and let me just say the jeep is a different (slow) animal. It is easier to drive and I have had Wendy up to 60mph no issues. Yes it does take a while to get there but it will get there. Secondly, I got a 4.0l power steering pump and steering gearbox installed. I did have to space out the pump pulley with some washers but other than that it was a bolt in installation. Let me just say power steering is a blessing, turning these 36's have never been easier. Thirdly, I also picked up a set of slightly used 35x12.5x15 cooper stt pro's that I will be mounting shortly to replace these 36 tsl bias swampers. -
those are the ones I was just looking at Haha. Thanks again

the measure meant from mounting point to mounting point on my rear axle is 20". and with a 1" add a leaf or 1" shackle it would be in the 21-22" range
-
My guess would be the leaf spring perches were welded offset and thus the drive shaft is straight but the axle itself is offset. It happened to my rear axle unknowingly. A buddy was helping me weld and neither of us looked at anything else other than the pinion angle and that the driveshaft was straight. so my driver side tire is out about 1/4-1/2" more than my passenger side or the other way around can't remember rn it's late. But All in all if everything is right it shouldn't adversely affect you. I have no driveline vibes and have had my jeep up to 60mph. I do plan to fix this eventually but rn it's hardly noticeable unless I point it out like I just did

I just replaced my turn signal switch in the steering column. My hazards are working but not my turn signals.... any thoughts? I checked the fuses and they are all good. don't know if there is a ground somewhere

Not sure how good these numbers are but I pulled them from rusty's offroad. These numbers are from their 6.5" Mj long travel kit and the rear shocks are collapsed 17.58" and extended 29.57". I don't have numbers for my specific comanche but it should be close as I am 5.5-6" of lift rear

Just so you guys get an idea of what my rear axle/ shock set up looks like. When I head back home from school I will measure the distance from mounting point to mounting point and find shocks that would fit in there. How would shackles/add-a-leaf affect the shocks. Would I have to get longer ones? I haven't been completely sold on either was just thinking about them
-
Hey guys I searched and couldn't really find anything specific pertaining to this question. I want to upgrade my shocks from the classic white body lift shocks that come on most aftermarket lift kits. As you can see in my sig, I did a soa rear lift with 2wd leaves. I was considering getting bilsteins but I don't know what lengthtravel shock to run the rear? 10", 12", or 14". I do plan in the future to add shackles or an add a leaf if that changes anything. The main kit I have been looking at is Bilstein Gas Shock Set Jeep Cherokee XJ w/6-8" Lift This kit comes with 12" travel 5100s up front and 12" travel 5125s for the rear. Any help is greatly appreciated
