Do you have a build thread yet? Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk -
Had a 95, with the 5.2l and that full time transfer case. Worst piece of Chryslerness I have ever owned. The day I loaded it up and sold it to a couple guys who wanted to part it out, was the happiest day I had with that thing.

Its wearing Illinois Antique plates in the picture.... How did they keep it that nice looking on our $#!&ty roads?

This month we veer back onto a bit more traditional path for the MJotM... A truck that has some fairly significant work and modifications on it. It's Swampy's 1988 base model, he affectionately calls Wendy. I guess given the old adage it might be appropriate.... Swampy's 88 build thread: https://comancheclub.com/topic/53661-wendy-88-jeep-comanche-build/ YEAR/MODEL ● 1988 Base, came 2.5l and 4spd ENGINE/PERFORMANCE ● 2.5l 4banger DRIVETRAIN ● Ax15 trans/np231 tcase D30 front and C8.25 rear 3.55 gears front and rear (for now) COOLING ● New stock-style radiator, going to be getting an electric pusher fan added soon ELECTRICAL/IGNITION ● All stock wiring, with new distributer, plugs and cables SUSPENSION/STEERING ● Front: -4.5" Rusty's Offroad coils w/ 1.5" coil spacers -Rough country quick disconnect swaybar endlinks -Adjustable trackbar -Adjustable upper control arms (Cav-fab stage 1) -adjustable lower control arms (Rusty's Offroad) Rear: Soa lift w/ 2wd leaves and stock shackles INTERIOR ● Swapped MJ bench brackets onto xj bucket seats and xj center counsel BRAKES ● Stock style master/brake booster Front brakes are stock componets with extended lines Rear brakes have been swapped from the stock C8.25 drums to KJ 8.25 disc brakes w/ extended lines LIGHTING ● All stock, upgrades are in the near future EXTERIOR ● Painted Predator Green from Monstaliner WHEELS/TIRES ● American Racing 15x8 outlaw ii wheels with 36x12.5x15 super swamper tsl's MISCELLANEOUS ● Still have lots to do, this build is not done by any means, but this is a start Remember That One Time?... Tell Us Your Best MJ Story ● So far my best MJ story has to be the first time I drove it. I got my MJ with a bad internal slave and was never able to drive it. I parked it in the backyard and the build began. 9 months into the build, finished the ax15 swap, got the driveshafts cut to the right lengths, and with a fresh battery I cranked over the MJ. She fired up and when I pushed the clutch pedal in, put it in first and releasig the clutch the jeep started to move, I felt a such a rush of excitment knowing my hardwork paid off. CC is Awesome!... Why Do You Think So? ● CC is awesome because I previously had very little knowledge about jeeps in general much less comanches. The learning curve was steep but all the information on this site helped tremendously. I am still learning and hoping I can contribute just like so many other members

Its time to find another batch of great Comanche projects to feature for our monthly feature, MJ of the Month!! The benefits are mighty! You get to have your truck featured here in our annals and become FB (semi)famous as it is featured on our illustrious page. If you are interested and you think you have what it takes. Drop me a PM and we can talk.

Old Man Sexy!.. What part of Chicagoland are you in? There are a handful of us in the vicinity.

We had 275k on our 2004 when it got totaled. 1 trans solenoid and 1 starter. the only two non-maintenance things we did to it. We replaced with an Expedition.

Every month we get to feature some great Comanches, a lot are terrifically built trucks with all kinds of purposes in mind. This month we are highlighting a true survivor of the brand. Its an almost stock 1989, that belongs to BuxMJ. I will let Buck describe his truck in his own words! BUXMJ's 89 Year/Model 1989 Pioneer Engine/Performance 4.0 stock Drivetrain 5 speed AX15, stock transmission with the 4th (I think) clutch. Cooling Stock with aluminum overflow tank. Electrical/Ignition Stock Suspension/Steering Stock with helper springs added Interior Reupholstered driver's seat with stock material. Center console from a Wrangler, cut down shorter. New stereo and door speakers, rebuilt box speakers from '89, upgraded dome lights. Exterior Pioneer stripes removed when repainted in 2000. Repainted again in 2010 in slightly darker grey with black flares and lower panels, drip rails and cowl panel. I had an aluminum topper for 20 years and I feel lucky to have found a Comanche specific topper that cost more to ship than the purchase price but worth every penny. Miscellaneous My mj has earned its retirement and is only driven about 2k miles a year now, currently sitting at 261k. I do use this as a truck still and don't know what I would do without the bedslide. I think I have every receipt for service, repair and parts since I bought it 28 1/2 years ago. Best story: I was cleaning out the back after hauling mulch. I had stopped to use the vacuum at a convenience store and a Jeep CJ pulled up. A father and his young adult son got out and said they tuned around to come see my mj. They said they had owned and restored many jeeps over the years and wanted to stop and thank me for taking care of this Jeep. CC is awesome, tell us why: Since I joined CC several years ago I have been a quiet lurker for the most part. I do not post a lot but have been so impressed with so much on this site. I use it to answer my dumb questions without having to post those dumb questions, there are are so many knowledgeable people who give great advice freely without a condescending attitude for those of us who might need a stupid question answered. I am continually in awe of so many of the Comanches and the stories that go with them.

I'm getting the exact same error. But tapatalk is so hopelessly broken on a regular basis on way more forums than just CC, I suspect its something on their side alot of the time.

Hopefully you responded with an advertising rate sheet. It costs money to run CC, he would be getting paid for those video views, so you should be getting paid for those referrals. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk

Rust...rust and more rust. I don't know which tranny is in a Rust...rust and more rust. I don't know which tranny is in a 75...but if it is a 727, it's a good solid tranny, but with no OD, it's not a great one for a tow rig. Do a bit of research, as they used closed knuckle axles in some years. Also the QT transfer case can be problematic, but I don't know what years and the exact applications of it. It costs money to do those projects. Look at the CJ he used for the Comanche project, there had to be a significant cost there. I do agree however that he has lost some of the original interest he generated. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk

You can access them early on his website for paying the fee. It's in response to the way YouTube has demonitized producers videos by cutting their audiences and pay outs. It's part of the reason behind Motor Trend pulling their stuff and the lady that shot up their headquarters. If he posts his build thread here in front of his videos being released, he loses some of that wow factor. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk

I would not expect anything from Matt with BleepinJeep for awhile. He is now releasing his videos in a time delay format to cash in on them. If you support him on Patreon, you get access sooner. The other guy (whose name escapes me) his Comanche wouldn't really qualify for Epic Tech in my opinion. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk

We are switching all the 8 foot fluorescent lights out in the plant as they burn out. The high bay lights come with a special reflector to direct more light down and the LED lights work a $#!& ton better with the smart light system than the lights they are replacing. Have you guys never checked out SCORE or CORR racing? For you guys that want to race for fun... SCCA AutoX or SCCA club racing. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk

When my Dad sold the Miata, the buyer got a quote from some sketchy methy looking dudes on Uship for $800 from Rural Illinois to Kansas City. They showed up in a rotted out Suburban and a busted up 16 foot open deck trailer. The buyer was okay with it, so we loaded it. We thought it would disappear and never be heard from again and it actually showed up. When he got the 40th anniversary Vette brought to him, he used Dark Horse Logistics. The car showed up in an enclosed 34 foot trailer with a partition blocking any other freight from touching his car. Doc the driver was this great old coot, who hauled alot of higher end cars, and made sure that he called my dad every 100 miles to let him know exactly where his car was at. This was about $2 a mile for this service.

Good to see they haven't changed Haspin in the last 10 years!! -
Fuel gauge issues often trace back to crap grounds from the factory. I had tons of gauge issues until I grounded the battery to the inside of the fender. Always worked great after that. I later did a CS-130 conversion as the stock alternator was only a 76 amp and would drain the battery when pulling floats in the parade while the AC was on. When you drive a Wagoneer, even though it feels like riding on your sofa you aren't. And make sure to always leave 20 minutes early as you will get stopped by someone who has a story about their mom/dad/grandparents/randomperson and how much they loved theirs. BJs offroad is the go to for hard to find parts. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

The local buy here place to me sells alot nicer vehicles than most private sellers. His philosophy is you are less likely to make your payments if you get something that is breaking down all the time. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
