  1. Other Wade... did you get the factory bar mounts that are on the under side of the bed??
  2. My Comanche.... :( Plywood fusebox..for the lose...
  3. Uggh... What a dip$#!&.... He removes structural material and replaces it with nothing... That's gonna make it easy for the fire department to cut him out when it crushes around him... And if you are gonna brag about removing the stickers, cause they look bad... you might want to actually remove all of them.... The only redeeming thing about it, is that he is listening to Neil Young in the third video....
  4. Damn.. man that really sucks.... Sorry man
  5. When my last Ranger got wrecked, The insurance company cut me a check for the total amount of value. In Illinois, after a certain age they are required by law to allow you to buy it back at scrap price. I had to physically write the insurance company a check, and the truck belonged to me where is sat at the tow company's lot. The insurance company was happy.. they got what they would have expected to get in the salvage auction. I had to pay a tow truck to bring the truck to me.
  6. Unfortunately.... not anywhere near as cool as you would think... I was thinking the same idea.. then I saw a MJ with a 6 foot stake bed on it. That pretty much took away any ideas of doing one....
  7. Well.. I wish I had this bit of info about two weeks ago.....
  8. Pacesetter???? They used to be the lowest form of junk crap headers on the market... Have they started producing better parts???
  9. We had a Hornet Sport Wagon from the mid 70's with an electric locker in the rear end. It had a switch inside the glove box to control it. Lest us not forget that AMC also introduced the first four door compact SUV..and it was built on a unibody.... Or the fact they were the first to introduce a truly mid-sized pick-up and the only ones to ever offer a 1 ton payload in a mid-sized truck.
  10. Ideas were the one thing that AMC had plenty of....Development money was what they were short on. In 1981 or 1982 the mid-sized Cherokee was first photoed. At that time it was riding on a Hornet/Concord chassis. It was what AMC had in house for testing. They even had the Grand Cherokee on the drawing board when Chrysler took over. But Nash/American and AMC were considered to be more innovative than the big companies.. because they had no other choice.
  11. 4 posts.... and lives half between Rob and I.... Glad to have you aboard... Only bad thing... another member here trolling the Rockford CL for treasures..... ;)
  12. exactly. unless you stay on the main trail, body damage will be a guarantee. its a good place to go with ATVs, though. I've been there several times and not gotten any body damage. But I don't wheel a long assed MJ either.
  13. Yes... It's called Cliff's Insane Terrain. http://thecliffsinsaneterrain.com/ If its dry.. its muddy... And there are plenty of trees.
  14. Not ALL.... A full-time 4wd in 84-85 could have received the even crappier CV shafts...
  15. Me too... A guy I work with has 4, that they build for competition... They sound dirt cheap to wheel, and decently stout for the size. Not for me though. :D Rob L. There is a group of them that I see at the Cliff's almost everytime I go... They really aren't that cheap to build. They replace nearly everything on them.
  16. After talking with you a bit.... You need one finished, reliable, usable, drivable truck.. not another half done, sorta working, kinda usable, maybe truck.... This would be a really good start to that... Find the cheapest route there(hint Rob's XJ).. do that.. and have one vehicle you can count on. Pick a route...finish it... drive it...then you can worry about the pile of other assorted chit you have....

    Jeep J-5500

Do a google search for the Dually FSJ registry... There is a quite a number of these out there from the factory. Very cool though...
  18. I love sitting in the truck for about 30 minutes on Saturday morning and watch all of them going in with screwdrivers and lug wrenches... And the piles of tires and rims going out... Just cracks me up....
  19. Will it work..yes.. But it will take longer to warm up enough to shift correctly than a 75w-90 would.
  20. I know you love your heavy viscosity fluids, but you are asking for cold weather issues going that heavy. Once the tranny is good and warm it shouldn't be an issue. But until it does....
  21. Almost every single one in the local yard looks the same way. I went through every single ZJ to get a decent looking woodgrain dash for mine.
  22. gear lube 75w-90
  23. Mike.. you crack me up... I love the old school snow tires.... For some reason fuel mileage was one of your criteria.. go for the smaller size. Not to mention with the 4-cyl, you don't need any help wasting what HP you have.
  24. Do you even need to ask me???? I miss our old one all the time... After the Chryco take over... they all got a 5.9l with the 727 and Dana 44's on both ends.... More than enough power to pull a wheeling rig. The 104 inch wheelbase is a little short. But it does handle it better than the ZJ does.
  25. Rusty's is what Rusty's is... bottom end merchandise. If you consider them in their element... they aren't any different than the others that sell bottom end merchandise.
