Austin.... Admittedly, I haven't read all 71 pages of that thread... Can you give us a brief rundown of it.. We already know that the MN state DNR is much more open to the possibilities of OHV trails and parks.. Is this a new park or just a single trail?? The plan is for the local community to develop it, than the state take it over?? Or did I miss something??? Absolutely, I'm for anything that positively effects our community of offroaders. Having a state governmental body that recognizes that the tourism benefits are worth the comparatively small outlay of cash it requires is great. Here in Illinois the then regional DNR director said that they would not issue any grant for full-size trails or parks.

When they did the house in Erie, PA... A bunch of the contractors were family members of mine. It was pretty cool seeing them on TV doing it. My major issue with the show is that they leave the people in an untenable situation many times. I saw a report once that showed like 65% of the people that get a house end up losing within 5 years because the major reason behind them being in the situation they were in is never addressed. Now couple that with a brand new big property tax bill and the people end up in deeper problems than they had in the beginning. The headline was a doctor in CA that had a LARGE family and even with his large income and ability to pay, he still couldn't maintain his obligations on the house.

Fixed for you thin blooded southerners.

Short version.... They had a popularity contest for people who could buy as many cheap, shiny, low quality parts and strap them on the rigs... Darren registered a pile of accounts, got his truck in the contest and voted for himself repeatedly. Some people got all butt hurt over it...

I had completely forgotten about that... I laughed about it for days.... As wrong as it might have been..It was pretty damn funny behind the scenes.

Fog Light Question for the older folks
whowey replied to glundblad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Of course with any Jeep from that time particular time period... Anything was possible at anytime. AMC was broke.. flat busted, destitute penniless broke.. The Renault tie-in was a total failure and AMC was swirling the drain. So whatever appeared in a brochure may have been something a marketing guy went out and bought at the hardware store for the picture cause it looked better than the factory used ones... -

Were the ROL ones dealer installed rather than factory installed???? -
As much as I despise the idea of joking about the death of anyone's family... what point did the OP have for putting that in there.. He was trolling for sympathy as badly as the other guy was being a troll to start with. Unfortunately, that forum has become overrun with trolls. Flaming newbs seemingly is now welcome. It seems to have become the place where people without the technical ability to survive on Pirate and Naxja now congregate to hassle people. And of course as long as the owner's keep seeing revenue they have no desire nor reason to do anything about it.

What do you guys that drop the rear D-shaft do about the slip yoke??? The only time I ever dolly-towed an XJ.. I used the recommendation in the owner's manual.. which is: Manual tranny.... transmission in gear T-case in neutral Auto tranny... Transmission in Park T-case in neutral
-
I love the XJ wrecker set-up.... :rotf:

Cool.... They have heated, tinted, rear lift gate glass for my 96 Comanche.... If their IT platform is that bad.. do you actually trust them to process an order correctly, or even get you the correct parts??

AX-4 whinning, howling, growling, and grinding
whowey replied to AMC-MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why not use a yellow metal safe fluid.. in a GL-4... in a 75w-90... Amsoil MTG meets the actual specs.. not the one Chrysler later introduced to lower service center costs to them.. So does Redline MTL... -
At least milk cows do something useful... Horses don't do anything but waste animal food and crap.
-
Oh the irony of a guy with a sexual innuendo avatar talking about starting a family oriented Jeep club...
-
I'm guessing we are putting a big flag pole up in the back yard come spring??
-
AX-15 properly uses GL-4 gear lubes. Chrysler switched the recommendation to motor oil, due to not wanting to carry(pay for) a proper gear lube for a single transmission type.

Do you tow or haul loads alot??? If you do.. then 75w-140 Big tires.. deep gears??? then 75w-140 If your truck is just a curb cruising street queen 80w-90 is fine In the Tranny... I don't like going thicker than necessary due to the possibility of shifter issues in cold weather. synthetic fluids will help alleviate some of that issue, but not completely.

I didn't know about the Wally ban on mounting larger than normal tires.. I always walk in with them loose and they don't say anything to me.
-
Well... technically the difference between a 225/60 and a 215/70 is 15mm on the sidewall. Half your gain is from tread depth and tire shape rather than an actual increase in tire size. I'd like to find a tire with a little stiffer sidewall. With the entire family in the van... I can really feel some sidewall movement when make turns/lane changes, etc. The Douglas tires I have been running are cheap and they last quite awhile.

Traveling by yourself really isn't that bad once you get the hang of it. You can always eat what you want. If you don't feel like eating... you don't have to. No waiting around for someone else to get their butt in gear. Also you can usually find someone to have an interesting conversation with. I sat next to a gentleman who was on the negotiating committee from the post office union and he was on his way to DC for discussions about closing the post office on Saturday and its effects. It was really interesting to hear his thoughts on the subject and not just the soundbites on the news. And remember.. always treat the folks in the hospitality industry with respect. They work just as hard as you, they have the same types of frustration everyday as you..

Someone spent a good amount of time and money to come up with that build. The body kit looks like the one that used to appear on Ebay.

I'm anti-Christmas... so I hate them... But if they happen to be stoner lights... then they aren't so bad.
