  1. I was actually sitting at a stop light and I see the reverse lights on the car in front of me go on, and I'm thinking, no this can't be true, but yes it backs up right into my front-end. Two girls get out and the driver has the nerve to say, "I didn't see you" while they were both laughing. I'm sure they were high, it was late, couldn't see there was damage, but the next day I could see it was twisted. The guy who painted my truck said he had a hell of a time getting it straight. What is also ironic, my horn wasn't working at the time, I still had both hands on it practically pushing the steering wheel through the fire wall hoping it would magically come on.
  2. Wow Rob, you have done some intense prep, it will look great. Glad to see you are finally thawing out in the north. Are you staying with white? If I missed it, sorry. Can't wait to see more progress, but I'm sure you're anxious too!
  3. Wow that was a turn of events that definitely went positive. Nice use of insurance money. Great find also. Looks like this one is in much better shape. What year is it?
  4. My cholesterol is getting higher just looking at that food, although it does look mighty tasty.
  5. X2 on liking the long bed. It is so much better for hauling stuff. Great find, I don't think I've seen that paint scheme. Welcome to the club and the madness! How is the condition of the rest of the interior?
  6. Okay, Rob, I'll admit I have it good here unless the hurricanes come. I do have to know, what was saved from that truck? I think I need a tetanus shot just looking at it. I am very thankful my mj lived just one winter in the midwest.
  7. I am having the same rust problems with my mj here in Florida, especially now that it isn't my dd anymore and I have to park it in the garage and can only drive it when it's not raining, I am afraid the dust buildup is really going to corrode the underbody. What should I do?
  8. Inspirational. Thank you for your attention to detail and willingness to share with all of us. Congratulations on a well deserved award.
  9. Great. Another mj owner who is not a computer genius. At least you know how to wrench. The last "big" (to me) thing I did was change the fuel injectors. Got it done, proud of myself for not dropping any of the clips and losing them, but later realized after about every knuckle was bleeding and it took me 3 times as long as it should have, I will pay someone else to do it. I have found a reliable, honest mechanic so I have peace of mind, just not a lot of dollars! Can't wait to see pics. I still have problems but I am married to a tech writer so she can fix all my problems. Buck. P.S. Would love to see pics of both trucks.
  10. Awesome find, did your wife realize she won't be seeing much of you for a while? Did you find any surprises yet? It looks really solid. Welcome to the madness. Buck.
  11. Hey great work. With my mj I say it has earned it's right to rest. Looks like the same for yours. Although mine is no longer my dd, I have to get mine out for the thrill of driving it also. Keep it forever. Buck.
  12. Hey Eric, great buy by the way. Sorry I won't be meeting you for off-roading. Mine is not 4wd and I spent a lot of money on a new paint job a year ago and won't be risking a branch going down the side of it. Saw your add to sell the rollbar on CL. There was someone who posted looking for one about a month ago, did you see it? With black exterior (which looks awesome) are you trying to get the ac asap? I know when mine was out during one summer it really sucked. Take care, Buck.
  13. Kudos to you if you if you save it. I would have a storage problem. I like the idea of putting a new drive train in it if he does have the title in hand. Buck. P.S. I really like the work you have done on your mj. My parents live in Shawnee and hope I see your mj in person someday!
  14. 245,000 and going strong! Stock engine, actually almost stock everything.
  15. Hey Pete, I live in Lake Mary just about 45 minutes from Disney. Do you think you can come up here and help me with my MJ during some of your down time? Just kidding, hope you have a great time and glad you are here this week. My brother was in Florida last week and the weather sucked. Take care, Buck. Why do they call it tourist season if we can't shoot them?
  16. That is some great work, the only thing I would question about your truck is that you got parts from a guy named Creepy Death. Really like the idea of welding the tool box down.
  17. I am so jealous you found that mj for $150! That is awesome. Keep the pics coming and welcome to the madness.
  18. Hey Rich, I don't think I can make it this Friday, but keep me posted. I don't think Brooksville is too far, I played at the "Hilltop" bar a few times a while ago, an experience in itself! As for my paintjob, it's holding up great. We moved from Sanford to Lake Mary back in August and the mj had earned its place in the garage! My wife's car is a Mini Cooper so I can still get to the tools, the Ford Escape (my dd) is in the driveway. I still need to paint my stock wheels black, and I found some chrome center caps that should look great with the beauty rings. My mj is leaking more oil recently and I haven't had the chance to figure out if it's the rms or the oil filter gasket, thanks for the right up by the way. I have been babying my clutch for a while, trying to make it last, I will have the mechanic replace the rms at that time. I'll keep an eye out for the seatbelts. I think the idea of a Central/South Florida mng would be great. Take care, Buck.
  19. Man you do great work! Those are great pictures of your family's property. I would have never guessed it was in Florida. Beautiful. Hope to meet you in person someday. Also, it's been a while since I've been to the LKQ in Orlando or Daytona. Let me know if you need anything. And that sucks about the wasp. A friend of mine got stung in his van and he is allergic to stings and called 911 on his cell phone and had the highway patrol escort him to the hospital. Really like your truck and all the info you have shared with all of us. Thanks Buck.

    I wish...

I have a long bed, topper and bed slide. Being a drummer the bed slide is the best money I ever spent. No more bashing the top of my head getting in and out of the back of the truck. I still can't believe I found a used bed slide on CL for $225. It came out of a Dakota short bed. I haven't had to get inside the back of my truck in over a year and a half.
  21. Great find and great work already! What condition is the engine? Are you going to repaint it? If so, same color I hope.
  22. Great undertaking and it looks good already. That's awesome your son wants to jump in. Good luck with getting it all done.

    I love this guy:

That is hilarious. Read it twice now, laughed more than the first time. Thanks for sharing.
  24. I agree. Super work. I am very jealous.
