  1. That is a good idea Pete, I am planning on bringing the mj, as for food I am easy to please so whatever gives us the best chance to chill and be able to talk without yelling is great. Buck
  2. I have used Greyhound. You can build a plywood box and put your wheels in it and take it to a Greyhound station and it is MUCH cheaper than fed ex and UPS. The person you are sending it to will need to pick it up at a station also for cheapest rate. Go on their website and get the specifics of max weight and dimensions. They will not guarantee an arrival time because they will take the cargo off a bus if the space is needed for current passenger luggage but will put it on the next bus with available space. Good luck! Buck
  3. That sounds good Pete, sounds like a good hang, looking forward to it! Buck.
  4. Two of my favorite mj stories happened about 12 years ago, one with a good ending (mine) and one with a bad ending that shouldn't have. I had a friend tell me I should take advantage of the cash for clunkers program and get rid of my truck. I told her the truck is in great shape, it just needed to get painted. Well I got it painted and 10 years later that paint job is still looking good, mainly because the mj earned its retirement and doesn't get driven as much now but I enjoy driving it now more than ever. The sad ending story is around the time of the cash for clunkers program I was at a junk yard and saw an mj that was a cash for clunkers victim, a 4.0 HO Florida truck with no body damage, no rust and a clean interior, got as much as I could off of it but looking back wish I could have bought the whole thing. I haven't seen an mj in a junk yard for several years now, I wonder how much of that truck got crushed...
  5. Sorry Pete, I can and will make it on the 13th, didn't respond because you were asking who couldn't make it. Looking forward to meeting you and hopefully several other CC members. Thanks for getting the word out and let me know if I can do anything or bring anything since I am probably the closest local. Buck.
  6. That is a cool place, thanks for taking and sharing the pics Pete! Buck.
  7. Hey guys, I do hope I can meet up with you but unfortunately it will be difficult. I am a musician and have a weekly gig every Wednesday evening up in Sanford and then we as a family will be out of town for a few days from Thursday the 17th until Sunday evening. The best day and time for me would be either Sat the 12th or Sun the 13th. I also could make Sun the 20th work if it is later in the evening. So sorry that my schedule doesn't help, hope to meet you guys sometime that week though! Buck
  8. Hey Pete, hey Rich, yes that would be great to get together, I am in Lake Mary, north of Orlando. Let me know when you are here in O town. Buck.
  9. Great work, thanks for sharing all the pics also!
  10. Some of my favorite albums are live albums, Frampton, Chuck Mangione live at the Hollywood Bowl, liked the Band on the Run reference above for favorite studio albums. Also Pat Metheny First Circle. The first tune Forward March you need to know the back story to appreciate the tune, I saw them open a concert with that piece and was wondering what was this crap, lol. Buck
  11. I like the long bed because that is what I have, bought it to haul equipment so the long bed works better for me. I prefer the 5 speed even when it was my daily driver, it is not driven as much so I don't get as frustrated sitting in traffic. Buck.
  12. Many of you guys will probably not like what I listen to, mostly straight ahead jazz. One cd I played over and over while working on one of the cars in the garage is Roy Haynes Te Vou, great musicians and great tunes. I will stop in my tracks to listen a Stevie Ray Vaughn song. I have a weird list of favorite singers, Al Jarreau, James Taylor, Michael McDonald and Johnny Hartman, many others but too many to list. I play with a guitar trio every Wed night and he is into Mike Stern and Pat Metheny tunes, I have been into them both for a while also. My wife is really into classical music but being a drummer and percussionist I have such a hard time remembering tunes, pieces because I never play the melody! A group I like listening to and sharing with anyone is Goat Rodeo Sessions, all world class musicians but no drums!
  13. I went to the LKQ pick n pull on Sat in Daytona, less than half an hour drive, very easy to get there for me. I got the mj up over 80 a few times and still feels good, no wobble. I did get a hood and some smaller stuff for the ford escape, when I had time to look for some mj parts (well, xj parts, I doubt an mj will ever show up again at an LKQ) I had to leave. I found a nice xj that one guy was pulling the brake booster and 2 other people were pulling the wheels, I wanted to get the throttle body but it was so hot and crowded, (40 % off for the weekend) I was miserable by then didn't want to wait for space. When I got back out to the parking lot there were not any spots left, glad I got there early. Buck.
  14. Hello everyone, time for my yearly update. Recently bought Brown Dog motor mounts and wow they are great! I also bought Mean Lemons cables but have not had a chance to put them on yet. I enjoy reading everyone else's updates but hardly adding to mine, sorry. So much I would like to do but when money appears it quickly gets designated to other things... Buck.
  15. Great back story about how you got to where you are, thanks for sharing, great job of recovering and living those dreams. Welcome to the madness and looks like you are already doing the mj right. If you already haven't learned, this is great place to find answers to your mj questions. Keep the pics coming! Buck.
  16. Great work and thanks for sharing!
  17. You have already done some great work on your mj, making the rest of us jealous! Thanks for the inspiration in the attention to detail! Buck.
  18. Thanks Jeremy for doing this, great idea! Buck
  19. Just turned over 264k today, still running great! Buck.
  20. Well said Bo, thanks! Buck
  21. Yeah that is an epic trade and yes you suck.
  22. Wow, that is amazing! Looking forward to pics and thanks for sharing! Buck
  23. Another thread someone has put some serious time in to get it going and then to fix it to keep it going. Thanks! Buck.
  24. There are some great pics of some great mjs posted previously on this thread. With whowey and Pete asking if there are build threads on these nice looking mjs, I really would like to reiterate the importance of a build thread. You may not realize that the build thread section is what a lot of us use for information and inspiration for our mjs. Many of us mjotm recipients have stated that in our "what we like about cc". PLEASE take the time to share what you have so we all can appreciate some different versions of what is becoming a rarer vehicle by the day. This forum is about sharing ideas and advise and a place for asking questions without worrying someone will vilify you if it is a simple or "stupid" question. Buck.
  25. I decided not to put the hockey stick emblems back on my Pioneer when I got it painted the first time and I have always been happy that I went with the clean look, especially since I got it painted again ten years later, probably a lot of work to take off. Buck.
