Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche

Jiffyamerica, the Cherokee/Comanche have what most refer to as a unibody. So there's no removing the frame. -

Alexia, I'm getting ready to attempt what it appears you've already accomplished with my 89 2wd long bed I'm basically putting the dash, computer, wiring, drivetrain, front-end on my Comanche. Man, I wish you were my neighbor so I could buy you a beer and go to for advise....lol -
89 Comanche 2wd long bed conversion
G00SE replied to G00SE's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
So, I've picked up a 1998 XJ Sport 4x4 for the transformation. In no hurry though to get started, a little intimidate to be perfectly honest. Not concerned that much with the driveline or the exterior body parts either, however the wiring and interior I've swap not to confident with that. But only 2 things happen either it'll be a total success or failure... I'll have to resize the pictures of the XJ to post them.. -
Here's his Facebook page. Just message him about it. If you want to learn more, watch his YouTube videos. https://www.facebook.com/nickintimefilms/ Thanks G00SE Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk

Might as well go ahead with my build thread. Although I might as well also warn you this will probably be a long one, as I'm looking to y'all for encouragement and wisdom... My plans are to convert the front-clip,Doors,Interior,wiring&complete dash to 97-01 year model also from 2wd to 4wd with at least a 6" longarm lift. And obviously Wheels&Tires and Bumpers on front&rear... Already been searching far&wide for Cherokees for donors and found several really good buys but the ones I'd like are in the price range of $4000-$6000 & that's for me just too high to trash a perfectly good vehicle.. Anyway this is what I'm starting with: Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
G00SE replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Of course it can be done. If you want to go 97+ I would just go all out (if you piece it together here and there, you'll wish you had just done it all at once). If you find a 97+ donor XJ, it will have all the parts for your 4wd swap and the 97+ swap for a fraction of the cost of doing it individually. There are some good threads on 4wd swaps and for partial and full 97+ swaps, you should check out Alexia's 97+ build for sure (it's the best documented one ever). I have a 97+ swap thread as well you could check out. As for the atv you traded, you'll never miss it once your Jeeps are on the road and trails. If you were close I'd be over with a case of beer and pre-greased hands. Your off to a good start! Hopefully I won't miss my atv. I just really want to finish my Comanche haha Sorry for the hijack of your thread Swampy... Maybe we can bounce ideas off each other through these builds?[emoji3] Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk BTW, we'll be down your way in a couple of weeks. Actually in KeyLargo, FL. for vacation... So I'm getting ready to drop a bucket full of Benjamin's into my 89. Plans are to: Convert from 2wd to 4wd, with lift. Change the frontend, and as much as possible of the interior to 97-01 year model. And of course new shoes[wheels&tires] Can this be done? And what all should I know before breaking out of the gate with this build, any help would be much appreciated... Oh!,,, anyone close to Cleveland,TN and don't mind getting their hands greasy I'd really appreciate the help...G00SE Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk -

So,,, to have the later model grill and doors, does the entire front clip have to be swapped? I have a 89 MJ 2wd and want the 97-01 grill, will I need the entire front clip as well? Correct if I am wrong but I believe so. You need the grill, headlights, headlight bezels, and front fenders. I'm not 100% sure though Okay,Thanks G00SE Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk -

Will a full size straight axle Dodge 1/2,3/4, or 1 ton fit in place of the MJ 4wd front axle? Along with the 3/4 or 1 ton Ford front axle? Or will this take some kind of extreme modifications?? Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
