So.... where are the pictures of your new Jeep?
-
Whoa... that was way more addicting than I thought it would be. Pretty cool.

Here are the shots I took. I looks worse the more I look at it, but I still really like it.

Are those 16" XJ wheels? The look good with those tires.

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)

The swap really didn't cost me much because I was able to sell a lot of what I didn't use and my donor didn't cost much. The paint job was pretty cheap for what it was at $1500. The stuff that was expensive was my seats, tires, lift, wheels, etc. -
I vote rectangular on the bumper too. I have decided if I'm going to go rectangular or round on my roll bar though.

For the '90, the oil was changed, it was inspected, tag renewed. On the '88, I installed chrome grill surrounds and swapped over to a black grill and headlight buckets and I fixed my non-working gauges.

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)

Today was a good day. I accepted a full time position and I start next Monday. The good news is that it pays more than what I was making at my old position. The bad news is that its a couple counties over, so I'll have to stay with family until I can sell my house. I still won't be able to do anything much with the truck because I have to make up for 4 months of no full time job, but at least now I don't have to sell the '88. Hopefully I will get to do some small stuff here and there. Updates as soon as they come. -
I have the Hell Creek 3" lift kit. I'm very happy with it. I wouldn't mind having just a little more lift in the front, but for what I use it for, its great. Hell Creek manufactures their own leaf springs, but the coil springs for the front are Rough Country. I think a 3.5" coil spring would probably work pretty well with their 3" rear springs.

They year does matter. You'll want another renix era cluster. So, I'm thinking anything up to 1990 should work, but hopefully someone else will chime in and confirm.

This is true. The only Wrangler that I've lost money on is one I put a lot of money into modding. The rest I either broke even or made money on. Under $10k around here would buy you a pretty decent Wrangler, especially when the weather is colder.

If that interior is brown, its the first I've seen. I wish mine was so cheap to start with.

A local about 10 miles from my house just put up his 1950 Willys Pickup for sale. I have no money right now because of my job situation, but if that were to change, I'd love to work on this truck. Its a 6 cyl (was a 6cyl offered in 1950?) 3 speed with 4 wheel drive. The sign in the window says "runs good." I know these trucks can be worth a decent amount in good shape, but I have no idea what this one is worth. Best I can tell it needs a lot of work including 3 fenders, most glass pieces, some rust repair here and there, obviously a paint job and who knows what mechanically. I'll post some pictures up when I get home (don't have my camera at work). He's asking $2500 obo; is that a fair price?

Yesterday I moved the spare and carrier from the '88 to the '90 because I had a nail in one of my tires. It wasn't flat, but I didn't want to get caught without a spare. I also was able to piece together a matching tool set for the inside of the cab (jack, lug wrench, folding crank handle and jack strap). Since I had the day off and I had the road hazard warranty on my tires, I went ahead and took it to the tire shop to fix. Its a good thing I paid for the road hazard warranty because they couldn't repair the nail hole in the sidewall. The tire only had 5000 miles on it and it had to be replaced. $31 instead of $185. -
I know they made some significant changes to the 4.7 after the WK was introduced (08-09 model years?). I think it was something like a 40hp bump. Just something to keep in mind.

Not to thread jack, but where can I get a bumper mounted light bar like that? I'd love to put one on my '97.

I got the bench seat back back from the upholstery shop. Now the cover is repaired and it has head rests. -

I used duplicolor vinyl dye. It worked pretty well on the vinyl, but just OK on plastic. -
I'm going to do a Dark Chocolate t-shirt with tan logo. Size Medium.

Since JCR quit making the MJ bumper, this looks like a good alternative to the high priced Hanson bumper http://nates4x4.com/catalog/product_inf ... ucts_id=98

My '97 donor was 2wd, so my indicator lights don't work. I'm not too concerned since if I put it in 4wd, I'm going to know that its in 4wd. I wouldn't mind having the lights, but it just seems like a lot of trouble for something not that useful. Other than needing a 4wd transmission, everything else worked fine.

That truck needs repainting? You stole that truck for $1,800. I'm in shock.

With some lift, those wheels and tires will look great. I love the color of your truck, but man, that rust is terrible!
