  1. I pulled track bar, control arms, sways...still needed 1/8"...seriously. I unbolted the tranny mount and put a floor jack under the TC...just a skosh. Ba-da-bing.
  2. Check your motor mounts and tranny mounts. ...and quit crying about it every freakin' time you post!!!! :thwak: ...otherwise you'll find that no one WANTS to help you. We don't work for you.
  3. That's my old stock picture of my XJ (R.I.P)...The 88 MJ has no valve. I found that when I plugged the line I used a screw, somehow it was still sucking air. I capped it with a cap and some sealant. Works mo' betta. I also have a squeaky clean heater core. BEFORE AFTER!!! B)
  4. I've been anti-crate since I first saw a guy with a Great Pyrenees in a campground with a ginormous crate. My friend has a German Shepherd that was crazy protective, he could not control her. Introduce the crate. After a couple nonths of crating tghe dog knew where her "safe" place was, or something like that. She mellowed out and is one of the coolest dogs I know. Still protective if necessary, completely peaceful otherwise. In or out of the crate, the doors is usually wide open.
  5. Now THAT is funny...even my wife (the bleeding heart) thinks it's hilarious!!
  6. A dog license IS a dog tax. It helps the city/county pay for animal control...the guys that scrape squashed, mutilated, stinking dead animals off the road. Dog catchers, animal shelters etc. Just establish the dog's "residence" and go at it that way. Otherwise pay it to avoid the fine...it'll also show up on court records. It showed up on my buddy's police record...the ONLY thing on his police record, twice!!! And no, there's no cat, ferret, rat, turtle, fish, snake or racoon license either. Dogs are victims of discrimination
  7. The cab of an MJ is ~21-22 inches tall in the center. I once fitted up an S-10 camper which was about an inch too short. Looked weird IMHO. 2" taller than the cab would look too "grandpa" for me, and I'm 60, and a grandpa!! 60" or 61" x 75" x 21.5" would be a good fit for a SWB. I'm always a little riled by people selling campers that don't include dimensions. They just say "came off a Chevy" or "fits a short bed" something like that.
  8. Thank you...if it stops raining I'll whip out the DMM and go to town, but like I said this is truly the ONLY problem I've had since I swapped in the AW4. I thought it may have something to do with the wimpy 3.07 gears. Going up even a shallow grade is brutally sluggish as soon as the RPM's drop below 2K, I feel like I'm driving a 1964 VW bus, towing a 40' trailer, dragging a dead body, with the pedal to the metal. On the freeway and on little hills it's fine, no dead body.
  9. This what worked for me. I had to start from scratch on this as the PO just ripped the flares off and almost all the studs/bolts were broken off as well. Once the flares are on there is minimal pressure, no heat, on them so they just sit there...the JB has held up fine for 3+ years. I used stainless steel bolts/nuts. I'm probably never going to remove the flares and everything is tight. Just one caveat. Make sure you grind off the old studs/bolts and drill from the stud head side...use a center punch to orient the holes and a good sharp bit to drill, some of the holes are slightly off center because the drill drifted off just a hair. It just makes it 10 times easier in the long run as you won't have to try to line everything up, they should just pop on like they were stock.
  10. When I'm climbing a hill, or want to pass someone, and I floor it...it won't kick down. I have the TV cable adjusted properly. Everything else shifts & works fine...except for this issue. Any ideas??
  11. I got my RMS for the XJ at Auto Zone...6 years and 60K miles ago...doesn't leak. What did I do wrong??
  12. What I was saying is that if it is titled as an 87...the DMV, the smog guy, and / or Santa Claus don't need to know that it's a 99 engine (unless of course you tell them). All it really has to do is pass the sniffer test.
  13. So, let me get this... You have an 87 MJ with a check engine light? Yes, I did get the part about the 99 engine. Did you swap everything, dash, gauge cluster, computer, sensors, wiring harnessses?? Who did the swap? Where do you plug in the OBD II scanner? Where does the scanner get it's information?? My 88 has no scanner port, no CEL on the gauge cluster, no wiring for same. Since the smog man wouldn't be expecting ANY CEL on a pre OBD vehicle...why don't you just remove the bulb?? Why would a mecahnic even attempt to plug in a pre-OBD vehicle. Something isn't right here. Sounds fishy!!!
  14. Where does that say Stainless Steel? Am I blind?
  15. I"d be pretty sure that the seller has his own idea of what he is going to charge you...including time, fuel, trouble etc. UNless he is hard up to get rid of it, it's likely he would not accept an "offer". I wouldn't . It' s not really rocket science, just ask him. The guy I bought my non running truck from delivered it on a flatbed trailer 50+ miles for nothing, but I was the only one who had made him an offer in two months. I bought it for $400, he was asking $700...I got lucky
  16. For the most part mine are stacked in the cabinet. If I had a place/rack to hang them, I would. I have some copper pans out...for sauces & desserts...and bling! But really, most important to use plastic, rubber, wood utensils on those coated, treated or teflon pans. They're just tools...I take care of my tools. My AT WORK tools, almost all aluminum pots/pans, stainless steel utensils, etc are all on a huge rack overhead to save space.
  17. Yep...I'll unsubscribe now
  18. My wife is pretty sure I'm having an online affair... ...not so, I'm just on the forums all the time.
  19. My local JY got hip to the MJ taillight "value" after I bought my 2nd pair... The first pair was $10 each, just like an XJ The second pair I bought was $20 each. Now they go for $30 each OR $50 a pair. I'm glad I snaggged that 2nd pair forr replacements.
  20. It never was. Here's another article...to prove...that if it's in print, it MUST be true. http://www.theonion....his-guns,30638/
  21. That's exactly what this is. There are some "grown men" that still live in their mom's basement, spend all day eating chips and pizza rolls and who's only interaction with the outside world is the internet, TV, Mortal Kombat and Grand Theft Auto. Surprisingly most of them are single.
  22. Winchester pump 12 ga. 18" barrel, 2 1/2" chamber, pistol grip handle, 6 in the mag. one in the chamber. Big Bertha is for home/camp defense only. Not for hunting!! My buddy loads his own and does some custom loads for me, like the rock salt loads. I usually load it with .00 buckshot or 1 oz. rifled slugs. I also load it with a home defense load. First shell is rock salt, 2 and 3 are magnum turkey loads, 4, 5 and 6 are .00 buck or the slugs. S&W .40 auto 10 cap mag. MyCCW gun...IF I'm packing, which I rarely do. If I'm hiking in back country, I open carry this legally and use a "snake load". First two shells are 150 grain snake shot, the rest are 180 grain hollow points. Extra clip all hollow points. Ruger .44 mag. revolver - Just for fun!! Ruger .22 revolver with regular and magnum cylinders. - bedside gun with magnums. circa 1960 - Winchester .22 single shot target/varmint rifle. I use super shorts home-made hollow points on my property for plinking and certain varmints (skunks). They go in...but they don't come out. That gun is dead accurate. My wife's piece is a .40 Sig Sauer - she went from a total noob to a dead shot in about 2 months of shooting at the range and in the woods. It fits nicely in her purse. ...AND a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. Oh, I almost forgot the spud gun - 1 1/2" x 3 foot barrel with a 10" fuel chamber and electric trigger
  23. I am a professional chef by trade. I have been for over 30 years. I never buy pots/pans/cookware at WalMart or Target etc. I go to a restaurant supply house for my household kitchen stuff. Most household cookware, including knives totally suck for quality and durability. I have the same set of Henckel knives for 25-30 years and they are sharper than s**t still today. Wearever aluminum, with full strength rivets on the handles, new age ironstone teflon coated saute pans with rubber Cool Handles. I never use metal utensils on them...I rarely actually wash them with soap. Just wipe them out. My latest set is about 10 years old and has no teflon wearing off...still looks new. I cook at home every night. I use Stainless Steel and Nickel/Copper for saucepans and stock pots and cast iron for my big frying pan and dutch ovens. FWIW there is no pot or pan that I have seen that eliminates the use of cooking oil of some sort for a.) the first use or b.) long term. Kind of like buying something for your Jeep that promoses 15% more horsepower and 20% better mileage, it doesn't exist.
  24. I do doubt you. The NRA is the most feared lobby in D.C., even above the oil companies. Wasn't the world supposed to end yesterday?? All we really need in our survival kit is a sharpened shovel to chop off the zombies heads. I think my neighbor is a vampire! ...and here's the best one "I got a shotgun rifle and a four wheel drive, and a country boy can survive" My shotgun rifle is not registered, it's not required to be, my four wheel drive is.
