Look on craigslist...search "jeep bumper", "tube bumper" "tubular bumper". I usually have to keep searching for a few weeks before I find stuff I really like or want...but I rarely (as in never) pay full price because I'm a cheap old buzzard. I see guys selling these all the time around here. Not my cup of tea but if you like them, go for it. If you find a used one that has dinged up paint it only takes a can of satin black Rustoleum and a coupel hours of prep to get it looking brand new...just like you PAID full price. The chicks will still think you're cool.

Side Triangle Vent Window Leak

Hey, the nickel actually works. Best of all, it only costs 5 cents, unless it's a Canadian nickel, then it's worth more. -
Custon Xj Bed Cap For Mj
ParadiseMJ replied to 87sparTruck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
...thereby making the MJ not an MJ OR...At the risk of sounding sacriligious...you could get an ACTUAL Suburban. You can modify anything just for the sake of modifying it. Personally I like my little truck to remain as God and Jeep intended it in the overall design. -
This Guy won't Budge On His Price But I'm Going To Look Anyway ...
ParadiseMJ replied to shawn's topic in The Pub
IMHO that's a solid price. Seeing that the winch ($300) bumper ($500) and new tires ($5-600) add to the value by $1300+ and the lift too. That's alot of work and $$. I sold a near stock 1990 XJ here for $2800. Rust free, 180K miles. Plus you can't find a parking lot up here without seeing an XJ. I'd at least take a look at it, drive it, off-road, on road, highway etc. Check for leaks. If you find anything negative, there's your wiggle room. If not, buy it. -
Side Triangle Vent Window Leak
ParadiseMJ replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I put a nickel under the latch...nice n' tight...plus I have an extra nickel handy for those unexpected purchases. -
I have used "liquid metal" to plug holes in big steel and aluminum (liquid aluminum too) cooking stock pots, like the 15-20 gallon pots) and have been incredibly surprised that a.) it worked b.) it held up for years with every day abuse. And it was not just cosmetic...they have to be leak proof. Just like Jim sez, as with any surface applied goop, it's all about the prep. Bare metal in this case. Also be aware that most bedlining "roll on" does not necessarily do well with bare metal. Sand, prep, fix, prime, sand and roll (or spray).

Interesting. I'm wondering how they would ride ON road

...and I'd have to agree with THAT. Thanks indeed!

Frank: My sister bought a TJ Cecil: I had a TJ once Bob: What's the difference Jim: What with a TJ Bob: No, between a chat room and the forum Jim: You can't click on someones's sentence and find an entire thread Cecil: What about the TJ Bill: It's raining here Cecil: In the chat room? Bill: No, in Tallahassie........ Frank: she got the TJ for 3K...good deal!! and so on...if you want to read threads go to the Pub, or Tech, or Builds...several FORUMS. The shout box (as in "shout out") is cool-ese for "chat room"

I suppose I could have gotten any "old truck" to fix, build up, rebuild, but I'd had XJ's for a long time and I had always wanted an MJ...my friends, my wife, my kids think I should just get an F-150 or a Silverado and be done with it. But then all I'd have to do is get up, go to work, come home, go to bed, get up, go to... There is ALWAYS some little project to do on this truck...and I like figuring out problems and fixing them. What the hell do guys DO with their weekend and their money if they're not under their Jeep??? ...and then there's the back country...where a Super Duty won't fit on the trails.

Alignment After Lift
ParadiseMJ replied to JeepComanche89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
...not to mention that the drivers side TRE cost's $20 and the pass side (drag link) costs $60-70. -
You got the beginnings of a deal...try another grand. That must be what draws me to it. Whaddya mean by "old". Seriously though, if I had it to do over again I may consider buying a "ready to go" MJ for $4K I've learned volumes building my truck that I got for $400. I've also spent about 3K gettint it right how I want it...and it's not just right yet. The only reason I've slowed down on spending money on it is my wife tells me we need: A new back fence A new kitchen floor New carpet A vacation to the Bahamas etc. etc. ...and then there's the grandkids!!!

Score!! Dual purpose!! It's for "blowin' smoke up yer arse"...my boss has one of these I think, since he's always doing it.

What Have You Towed With Your Comanche?
ParadiseMJ replied to Goose's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I do NOT have an MT. Around town/county. 2 yards of river rock 1 yard of pre-mix concrete (I may have exceeded the 5K limit) Long distance: My 16' foot canoe trailer with 2 canoes and enough gear and firewood for 8 people camping for 2 weeks. Not all THAT heavy but cumbersome w/no trailer brakes. Slow and easy. Not towing, but hauling 10 60# sacks of concrete and about another 600# of lumber. If I had loaded it correctly it may not have sagged so much. Most of the concrete was towards the rear end. Hey, I ain't never said I was no Alan Einstein! -
I guess I don't really like to call attention to myself...as a noodge. What with me doing alot of dope smoking and drinking while on the highways and biways. http://chico.craigslist.org/pts/3522384148.html I would always help someone in a pinch. Especially if they were a super hot chick wearing a rhinestone thong and loose fitting top...or just some hapless driver that didn't even have boobs. I believe having strobe, flashing or rotating emergency lights on anything but an emergency vehicle is verboten in California...and rightly so IMHO. There have been creeps and rapists that pose as cops or tow truckers who've pulled women over and put something in instead of pulling something out!! Of course there have also been ACTUAL cops and tow truckers who've done the same. Can't trust anyone these days.

I like the white one...looks good for half the price of the black one which says "would make a good crawler" (indicating it needs even more work to make it so). Sounds like the white one has some wiggle room. Drive the P'up over there when you look at it...then the guy will know you're broke. He's open to trades...how about the Isuzu??

What Fluid Are You Using In Your Ax15 ?
ParadiseMJ replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ummm, yeah...not so! -
I used Pennzoil Syncromesh...in my Peugot. Very smooth upshift and downshift. The PO had apparently been using some kind of oily swamp slime, with added chunks of goop...didn't look like he'd ever changed it. Since there is no type of, or provision for a filter, any cooling or any recirculation of lube it's very important to keep it changed on a regular basis IMHO. I changed mine out annually (and I only drove it about 5K miles a year, if that). Running an AW4 now.

Dead, Dead Battery?? I'm Up A Tree!!
ParadiseMJ replied to ParadiseMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the input. I left all my testing stuff at home and I could not drive it to AZone. Co-worker loaned me his car, quick trip to Wally World $80...back on the road. After taking a second look at the battery, I bought it in 2007. 6+ years...not bad, I wonder what accessories will start working right again. Poor little car. P.S. I'm still waiting for a reply from the Nissan Forum. Nothin'! -
So, please don't flame me, I'm just desperate and this is the only place I can turn for a decent answer this early in the morning...please don't send me to ricer forum hell BUT... In GENERAL terms, an OBD II Japanese vehicle, 2002, with the interior lights left on all night. Only minimal juice left, just enough to show very dim lights. Jumped to start, ran fine all the way to work...25 miles on mostly highway at 55-75 mph. Died at the bottom of the off ramp as soon as it dropped to idle. I was able to start it up and drive it the other 1 mile on surface streets. Was at work for 1 hour or so. Went out to see if the battery had charged up. No go, Back to the very dim lights. Would the culprit here a battery that has just given up after 4 years of me occasionally accidentally draining it or is it something else. I have had to replace the alternator before...when it goes bad the airbag and brake warning light and the CEL all flash. I have no CEL or other indicators that the alternator has gone south... Any help appreciated..

From my extensive research over these many years, I've found that girls are different than boys. So is it women & boys ? Or girls & men? ...at least one of those combinations is illegal...at least in California!! Not sure about Tennessee???

Need A Pic Of The Shifter Cable
ParadiseMJ replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The shifter cable does not go thru the firewall. It goes thru the trans tunnel on the drivers side just back of where the firewall starts going up. I had this same trouble and I spent all day looking for the hole. Edited to add: It won't be a hole by the way, it'll be a flat rubber plug. Might have a hole in it, might not, mine did not, since it was a manual originally. I got my shifter cable at the JYard, it already had the grommet attached. It;s ROUND!! Not oval.
