  1. No new belt yet. HOWEVER, I did notice what appears to be a crack in the power steering pump pulley. Hoping someone here can verify that it is a crack or just normal manufacturing. If so, that may be the issue for my chirp.
  2. Just a thought about reproduction or new production covers. If someone had access to a vaccuum former, could you just create a shell or cover to fit over the existing covers? This way, you could hide age-related wear and kind-of spiffy them up on the cheap.
  3. Okay. I did a simple test of spritzing water on the pulleys. No matter where I shot a little water, the chirp stopped, albeit briefly. I'm thinking alignment issue? Or maybe the belt just needs replaced?

  5. Ever have one of those days when something simple turns into something you might see on The Three Stooges? I had one except I was all of the Stooges! Started my oil change as usual. Grabbed a long bucket to slide underneath because the length lets me drain oil without over-shooting the pan and making a mess. Or so I thought. Get the plug out without issue and the oil drops right into the bucket. No mess! I was so excited that I was finally going to NOT spill oil all over the place. Well, I'm laying there under the MJ looking at just stuff, you know, when I look over at the bucket. The bucket is leaking oil everywhere! There was a large crack in the bottom. Not a hole, so I didn't see it. I run to get another bucket and swap out the cracked one. Made a mess, of course. Well, I let the oil finish draining for a while. When done, I move the bucket out and finish up the job. Then, I decided to reattach my lower dash panel that had been flopping around. The plastic screw holes had broke and would not stay tight. Anyhoo, I'm standing there with the passenger door open, when I decide to step backwards. Guess what's behind me? Yep, a bucket with oil in it! I knock the bucket over, while stumbling like an idiot, spilling even more oil! At this point, I just had to laugh. I think I only saved 1 quart of oil. The rest is on my drive, which is gravel. I know this is long, but I thought some appreciation could be had here.

  9. I need to apologize to all you who replied. I never got a notification that anyone had replied and I kept forgetting to check. Anyway, still have the chirp, but I'll look into the suggestions here. Thanks! Sent from my HTCD100LVWPP using Tapatalk
  10. Had several things done just before Christmas. Water Pump, MAP Sensor, Replace Timing Cover Gasket, Timing Chain, Timing Chain Guide, Camshaft Sprocket & Crankshaft Sprocket. Notes from Tech: Technician removed front cover and found timing chain clearance excessive - spec is 1/2" of deflection, Chain was well over 2" of deflection. Timing chain dampener was laying out of socket. Required replacement of chain, chain sprockets and dampener. Additional Labor Added For Removal Of Corroded Timing Cover Fasteners. The truck does run better, but I have a chirp now. Tech knows and said he was a little concerned, but wasn't sure what it was. It's there on startup, but fades after 10-20 mins. Only chirps after a cold start. After warm-up it doesn't do it throughout the day or while driving. I've read several articles on belts, pulleys, harmonic balancer. I have uploaded a MP3 of the sound hoping that hearing it may lead to more accurate suggestions. My hope is that it's NOT the balancer and I can take of it myself. TomsTruck.mp3
  11. Not carb cleaner. Use Throttle body cleaner. I left mine on when cleaning. In hindsight, it be easier to clean it off the truck.
  12. Right, it looks nice in the pics. Not as "chalky" as some others I've seen. BTW, thanks for your service. Sent from my HTCD100LVWPP using Tapatalk
  13. Is the gloss normal or an additive to the monstaliner? Looks nice!
  14. What's your guess on price? Don't really have any good yards around me, so my experience is very limited.
  15. Just because, I thought I would do a little Photoshop action to see how they might look. Pretty good, I'd say.
  16. Just an add-on question. What do you when one of the studs turns with the nut? Sent from my HTCD100LVWPP using Tapatalk
  17. Me too! Would have to build a set over time though.
  18. I'm assuming that was a while ago?
  19. Me again. Her to cause trouble. So, holiday lighting is judged, but Santa, Three Elves or Two Santas Fighting is an instant win? Lucy, you have some esplaining to do.
  20. I was looking around the webbernet and saw that in 84 Jeep had some five slot wheels on Grand Cherokees. The slots were squared off. Then, I read that some Comanches had those wheels too. I've not seen any Comanches with them or even the five slot mags. Has anyone?
  21. Hey bluenotenick, I'd like to chime in here. My sisters and I went through this a year ago with our Mom. Yeah, it sucks! Anyway, his sister (your Aunt) really needs to be on top of the care he's getting. Thankfully, my younger sister was our shark. She takes no bull from anyone, especially when it comes to family medical. Even though we had our Mom in a very nice center here in NC, stuff still gets through the cracks. Wrong meds, wrong diagnosis, wrong treatments, poor care and even abusive caregivers. It's all a potential issue at ANY care facility. We only had a few minor issues because my sister was cracking skulls if she saw the slightest wrinkle in the works and the management was very good at taking care of business. Not trying to worry you and hopefully your Dad will receive quality, stress-free care.
  22. Okay. As promised, two-for-one BIG Turkeys!!!
  23. DING!!! That's what I'm suggesting. The prize-givers need to be okay with the value of a prize item and not mind offering said prize. If it's too much of a loss, then don't do it. The trick is in the percieved value of an item. A radio, for example, is too much for a small, niche forum, as you know. However, what do you have in your shop that could be used as a prize? Something relevant, good percieved value, and something you wouldn't mind parting with? I'm using "you" to mean vendors in general.
  24. Yeah, I know that's not going to happen. What I don't get is that I did not insult CC at all at any level. I'm glad it's here and I'm glad to be a member. However, offering solutions is apparently a bad idea around here. Sheesh!
  25. Really? It makes perfect sense. As a said, if you're NOT making money from this forum, then getting more eyes is going to be VERY difficult. And, if the Mods, no matter how long they have been involved, no longer have the energy or interest or motivation or whatever to do what is needed to make it better, why bother?
