Just looking through wheel threads and wondered if anyone has gone back, in stead of forward, in time with wheels? Are there any vintage wheels that even fit?

Pulling my hair out over vibration/rattle!

More good advice! You really ought to post more. Oh ... wait. -
New brake booster without new MC
NC Tom replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very helpful! Thanks! I hope messing with it doesn't really void my warranty! 🤣 -
In Dec. 2017, I had some adjustments made to the timing chain. Apparently, the guide fell off. After that fix, I've had a vibration, but it's odd. I thought it might be the HB, but someone here said it would be constant if it was the HB. It's not constant. What it do: No vibration in park. In-gear with brake applied (as at stop light) bad vibration. Hit gas, it stops. While driving, I hear a cyclical rattle from the engine compartment. Sounds like two or three glass bottle knocking together. It surges three-at-a-time like: rattle, rattle, rattle (2 sec. pause) rattle, rattle, rattle. But, not all the time. It's pretty consistent at around 45 mph. Fades at higher speeds. What's really frustrating is that I can't look under the hood if it's not present in Park. Maybe I could chock the wheels, put it in gear and check, but I'm not a fan of that idear. Anyone run across this before or could it possibly be the HB?

Alright, final update. Replaced leaking power steering pump and chirp is gone. Apparently, that pulley was out of round and the leak was saturating the drive belt, which caused the chirp.

Basic question. Do I need to replace MC when replacing booster? I know my booster is crapping out. I have the in-cabin vacuum hisses going on. I see them sold as a unit and individual. And, see folks online usually replace both. Just wondering why.

Seeking opinions on these seats
NC Tom replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the feedback and especially these links. Did not realize how expensive NOS cover were. I can get good seats for $100 or so a pair. Can't justify spending more for beat-up sets I have to repair. Besides that, I had a reality check, I really need a new brake booster more than seats. -
Came out of an 89 Comanche. Passenger looks good, but tilt forward is broke, driver's well, you see. No brackets, but I have my bench, so I can deal with that. Owner wants $75 for the pair. I'm concerned about the cost/feasibility of repairing that driver. He has asked me to make an offer. I would appreciate some thoughts on this and what you all think they're worth. Thanks!

It's my burden to bear. Bare? Heck, one of those is correct.

Well, I decided to go with plain ol' ceramic. This was my first "modern" drum brake job, and what a P.I.T.A.!!!!! It's one of those projects that I would recommend a service guy do, if funds are available, or if just like to punish yourself. And, while I did wear a tinfoil hat, I don't think it helped much!

Cool, thanks! Can't say anything about the MJ bench. I'm a pre-childseat guy. My Mom used to just lay me in a clothes hamper and set me on the back seat of our 66 Barracuda!

I second the flatbed over a Ranger bed. Personally, a flatbed would/could be very useful, look more custom and you have many options to build what works best for your budget. The lines of the Comanche are distinctive for a pickup. Any other bed would look Frankenstein-ed. The fabrication involved would likely be close to just re-skinning your stock bed.

Finally got around to looking at this again. Noticed the idler pulley has just a slight bit of play in it. Is this okay, or is no play better?

Dang! You trying to grow corn in there? (of course, mine don't even work, so. . .)
-
Well, I haven't made any progress on this at all. I may just go with ceramic and see how long they last on these mountains.

Dang! I do have the 7214. And I was all excited about hacking this thing with a aux jack! To answer your question about left and right channels, no, I don't know. However, I'm not overly concerned about backwards balance if that's the end result. What I WAS going to do: Using female pin connectors, attach the red wire to a pin and the white wire to the other pin. Attach copper wires to the metal body. So, Minuit, what are my options? I don't care about losing AM. I also don't care about losing the tape, if that's an option.

Need to reopen this ancient thread. I recently pick up a P56007214 from a 92 Cherokee. Believe it or not, $12 off CL. PO says tape not working, but I don't care about that at all. I do want to add an AUX jack like what's listed here. I have identified the pins and I have a stereo wire that I have sacrificed for this purpose. However, I only kind-of understand the wiring. In the attached pic, I have two wires in each bundled wire. The red with bare copper is "-" and the white with bare copper is "+". They connect to a make stereo plug. Based on the thread, am I connecting the "+" wire to both of the radio pins, and the "-" wire to the ground? What do I do with the two copper wires? I'm hopeful someone is still interested in this.

I have not seen the rears, yet. I'll check with Big Dave. Sent from my MJ-MIM (Messaging Interface Module)

Haven't really looked into a swap. Figured it be kind of pricey. Sent from my MJ-MIM (Messaging Interface Module)

Any long-term updates to this old thread?

Anyone have any experience with these: https://www.carparts.com/details/Jeep/Comanche/Powerstop/Brake_Shoe_Set/1988/Pioneer/6_Cyl_4-dot-0L/P15B267.html I'm looking at semi-metallic because of the mountain driving. The Jeep auto 2-1 gear set-up seems truly retarded to me, so I ride my brakes more than I would like.
