  1. If shops are not allowed to straighten frames, why do they have frame jigs and why do factory service manuals have pages full of chassis dimensions? The dealership told me the mounts would have to be cut off and rewelded, they couldn't do that because they were a dealership, and the procedure for that was to do a frame swap.   2. I had someone hit and run the drivers side wheel on my wife's van, insurance company was going to write it off because the upper control arm mounts were a little bent. I straightened them up with a big Cresent wrench, changed out a tie rod, and the thing was good as new.   3. Sorry, I should have been clearer. My basic thought was, I could get another inch of ride height if I put in 4wd springs. But on deeper reflection, it hardly seems worth it. I could just put longer shackles in the back and achieve basically the same thing. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
  4. How much arch difference between 2x4 and 4x4? I just did a SOA on my 2wd and got almost 6" of lift. Would I get more from 4wd springs? Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk 4WD sits 1-inch higher than 2WD. The arch of the springs doesn't affect how much lift you get from a SOA conversion. The lift comes from moving the spring to above the axle -- if you start from the 2WD height, you'll end up with the 2WD height plus 'X' inches. If you start from the 4WD height, yiou'll end up with the 4WD height plus the same 'X' inches. Yup I realize that, just didn't know they were a different height to begin with.   7. A friend of mine had something similar happen, except it didn't pop out of gear, his piston rings were soo worn that his motor didn't have enough compression to hold itself. It slowly chug chug chugged down a hill and through his neighbors fence. He figured it probably took half the night to get there. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
  8. Don't weld. Use vise-grips. And go easy -- if you break off the outer part, then you'll have to buy a new caliper (or wheel cylinder, depending on which end you're working on). In fact, wheel cylinders aren't expensive. Considering the age of your truck, it might not be a bad idea to just buy new wheel cylinders and start fresh. And don't use WD-40 for penetrating oil. That's not what it's for, and it doesn't work. Use PB Blaster, or (even better) Kroil -- if you can find it. I have had good luck using a 50/50 mix of transmission fluid and paint thinners in a spray bottle to loosen seized bolts. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
  9. When you bleed brakes you usually start from the line furthest from the master cylinder, which would be the rear passenger, then the rear driver, then the front passenger, lastly the front driver. At least, that's how I've always done it. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk

  18. That's really good information, I think I will go a similar route, have one wired through ignition, and the other on a temp switch, with Manual switches in the cab to turn them off or on as required. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk

  25. No, but if someone tells you they have an Aussie Locker, do THEY know if they have an Aussie or a Lokka? If I was to sell you my Jeep with an "Aussie Locker" in it, would you be confident it was genuine? I have no bias either way between Spartan and Aussie, they cost the same, and do the same from the reviews I have read.
