91 comanche 4.0 pioneer fuel sending unit
Torq_Shep replied to Delee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is none. The only reasonable option you have for a 1991 is to send it to https://tristarrradiator.com/ for rebuild. There is a post somewhere of someone hacking together two MKS units to make a 1991 "new" unit but that seems a bit overkill. You could ask if they want to do 2 of the same style and I could send mine in as well =P Maybe get a discount. -
HVAC wiring between years
Torq_Shep replied to TooManyProjects's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It should be a direct swap except there are some differences between the plug styles on the blower motors and there is a thermocouple (not sure it's purpose) that is different between 89 and 92. I hacked together a 1988 box and a 1991 box in my truck and those were the only 2 noted differences. -
Got my first Pfizer yesterday. Arm is very sore but otherwise okay.

Been PM'ing with @derf about a number of things. We are in a similar field so he has been super insightful.

Location is not super strict as I could reasonably leave it in Dallas area as well.

I have PM'ed a few people about this but I wanted to open it up to a larger group. There is a chance that I may move in the near future and all work has stopped on my truck. Nothing is set in stone yet but I would be interested in getting a contact or two for a body shop in CO (preferably Denver area) that would be interested in taking my truck (with or without engine) and doing body and paint on it while I work on moving. If I left the engine in there I would want the engine pulled for paint work and would also be interested in having a simple health check (compression, bore inspection, etc) and re-seal done on the engine. Would probably go ahead and do timing chain and water pump as well. The truck is currently disassembled to basically just a roller. That would be the condition that I would drop it off in. I have Epoxy primer, sealer, Nason Base, and PPG clear. Body work is extensive as every panel seems to have dents in it (I have bought used doors, hood, cowl, and fenders in better shape than originals though. Little to no rust repair is needed (one spot in the floor that I have partially patched and will probably finish before I move it. Based on the paint I am using the body man probably knows the quality I am looking for being a B+ driver condition, better than Maaco but not a show truck. If the pieces fall into place I would need to drop it off, have it worked on, and depending on how long the work took and what my timeline is for moving possibly have it stored on a lot for a 1-2 months. I wouldn't want to even start the work until I have more concrete timelines for things but I figure I should at least collect some data.

While not as involved as this I had a pretty nasty theft problem at my house when I first moved in. If it wasn't bolted down or in the garage it would get stolen. Even brazen enough to open the gate to the backyard and grab stuff from behind the fence. Wish I would have done it before $800 worth of my $#!& was taken though. I bought an 8 pack of Power Over Ethernet IP Cameras and a cheapo NVR from amazon for ~$500. Installed the cameras on a computer battery backup, bought 2 signs stating that cameras were on the property and placed one at the front door and one on the back fence. No issues since. Worth every penny as a deterrent. The nice thing is that at night they have a red glow to indicate night vision.

They switched over to rubber trim in 1994 or maybe even a bit earlier than that I believe. -

This looks incredible.

IIRC that bracket is to help hold up the splash guard that is missing on yours (and most) comanches.
-
Are you sure? I have never had one that opened up that I recall. I have owned everything from 1989-1996
-
Yes... I have 1800 posts on a vehicle forum that is not this one. I haven't logged into it since 2012 when I sold my Cherokee.
-
Number 1 thing... Do you have a place to park it in pieces over a 2 month period? If not do you have a shed or something to store pieces you think will sell. If the answer to those 2 things is no then you do not have what you need to part it out. If the answer is yes then list it as parting out on KSL and Chevy forums. The expensive stuff like the engine, axles, transfer case, transmission, can be listed separate. If you need to junk it at the end then you either need to have buyer lined up for the shell or be able to haul it away.

CRF136N's 89 Eliminator (used to be Torq's)
Torq_Shep replied to Torq_Shep's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
You have already had more done to it than I had finished =P -
I am a General Tire fan... I have Altimax on my van, my previous van, previous Comanche, etc. As a street tire they last long, have great rain grip, and are quiet. Never been anywhere except a field or dirt road on the Alti's so I can't really say how good they are offroad. I have not personally run their A/Ts but I have a few friends that have and are big fans of them as well.

Wow! that thing looks great!

Y'all need Whataburger...

It should primarily be just the grill that would be difficult to find. The fenders can be used from 84-96 and the header panel is similar enough to use from 84-96 (holes for the earlier JEEP letters on older header panels). OP could use an HO 3 piece grill if they wanted to it just wouldn't be "correct". In any case OP. I would definitely consider fixing this one. If you are not able to financially or are unsure about fixing it then I would sell it. I am sure the private market will pay more than the yard for this truck.

20k might still be a bit steep for 70k miles at the moment. If this was a sub 30k vehicle with immaculate records I could see 20k+ I would say it is worth 15-17 at the high end.

That might be a rusty jeep but it is very well equipped and pretty rare to have such a late 1992.
