  1. I am a big fan of the 4.0 HO , some may disagree , however a good set of low gears in the rear will help with towing . I am rebuilding my dana 44 with 4;56 gears . IMHO , a HO with low gears makes me feel like this in my head ... . I'll have to have the doctors remove my ears , so my smile can go back further . :D
  2. Yeah, you should be able to refinish them . I polish all kinds of metal . Aluminum is actually really easy to polish , just takes forever . Best bet is to strip them with chemicals and see what comes off . It will bleach the metal but you will polish that right back out . Start with 220 sand grit, work your way up to about 800 wet or dry . Then start with 3M rubbing compound, until a mild polish occurs , then mothers the hell out of it , to a bright finnish . Finnish will last a wile before you have to polish again . There are some coating options though .
  3. By cutting away the B-pillar supports , that ruins the purpose of a uni -body design . If that truck rolls or is hit , it will crumple like a pop can . If someone were to do that and drive it around , they would have to reinforce any areas that are not load bearing , witch was the whole cab . It can be done with an internal roll cage safely . Just not much room in the cab after its done .
  4. Depending on your heater box clearance . looks like there might be a little trimming at that end . Should bolt right in though . :dunno:
  5. Yeah ! I've been trying to get a new E-brake assembly for about six months , guess I'm converting to the console brake . :shake:
  6. IMHO , after all the work putting a new or used diff , in place , I would find a ford 8.8 or a dana 44 . Both are good axles and very upgradable . Disc brakes and lots of options on lockers .
  7. In the MJ tech forum , click on board index .
  8. Welcome to the club ! I am pretty useless around here , but I like pictures !
  9. Welcome to the club . :wavey:
  10. Yeah " , I guess that one collected interest ! Next time you loose a family member , you can bury them in my backyard .
  11. My problem is trying to find a good working E-brake assembly . Factory quit making them about four or five years ago . I can't find a decent working one anywhere . Where as the console E-brake is a dime a dozen and cheap . Dealerships still cary them new as well . As far as the conversion , I don't know about that , but you'll probably have to fab. or modify somethimg anyway . :dunno:
  12. Sorry, no gold and no woodgrain... I want to keep it simple and clean looking, will eventually repaint it white, maybe with a silver lower two tone, who knows. lol.... :rotf: Truck looks good though ! I always catch myself looking at your bike .

    Hello all

What's up Ken !! I'm mainly a pile of uselessness around here , but I try . :D I was stationed down there in Clarksville , KY . 101'st Airborne div . Nice country up there in , KY-TN.

    new tires

The AT . tires are also a much harder rubber compound , with more of a rough ride than the softer compounds . They will last you longer , but for more aggressive traction off road , mud , loose sand , ext. I would go with the BFG , mud terrains . plus a smoother ride . I am using the BFG AT"s now but I want a set of mud terrain's for off road use . However where I live, there is allot of pavement to rock roads, with pot-holes the size of a VW out here and they have held up great . I guess its just personal preference .
  16. Anybody going through that stuff deserves a metal ! I hate hospitals . My wife goes back in for surgery thursday , after just getting out this morning . :( I hope you get well soon !!
  17. It took me a wile , but I like the " Wanche Limited " :rotfl2: Whatever . Are you going to hook it up with some gold trim like some Limited Jeeps ? Gangsta'
  18. If its is coming from the windshield , than you need a couple of things . 1, Good urethane sealant , pref. from glass shop . 2, Urethane pinch weld primer . 3, A cold knife , yes its a special tool . 4, New plastic clips that the windshield trim holds on to , if you don't break them cutting out the glass . 5, Probably a new windshield . 6, A long knife, another special tool . 7, A good sharp flat chisel or strong scraper . thin as possible . 8, A good caulking gun . stronger the better . That urethane is tough stuff. Its not impossible to save the old windshield , just very hard . The hardest part are the corners and the bottom , at the cowl . It does take some patience . I can help you more if you need it . What is your exp. with windshields . Its not an easy task if you don't know what your doing . You can cut up your headliner real easy if your not careful . Like the hacks who did mine . I can go step by step if you want . Let me know .
  19. Looks good , does the weight of the bumper drop the front any ?

    Tractor supply

I'm sorry , but a matrix sh@t .......... thats gonna leave a stain on my brain I'll have to tell my friends about . I can't do this , my tummy hurts . :clapping:
  22. Maybe someone knows more about it than me . I'm the class :dunce: around here just yet . I got tired of looking for MJ floor brackets . So I did my own thing . Used a set of best top TJ seats and 95" XJ floor brackets and went to town . You can see the bolt pattern a little better in this pic .
  23. I'd give you my 92" bench floor brackets , but I don't think they will work on the older bolt pattern . :dunno:

    Tractor supply

I'm sssstttiiiillll ballen' :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :clapping: :huh???:  :rotf: :rotf:  Publish that sh@t and send it to Barbara Walters , she's got saggy nuts too ! :ack:
  25. Considering you have an older style floor bolt pattern , I would do what mfpdm did . Much easier to fit . Newer style MJ's are allot harder to bolt in . I had to mod. some stuff no matter what . XJ floor brackets are allot easier to find as well .
