You should be able to smell gas , if its pumping fuel but not turning over .My truck had a new filter when I bought it , but after quite a few tanks of gas it clogged a new filter . Not sure if there is a way to externally check the injectors . If you can't get it to turn over by spraying gas in it , that sounds like spark . Sometimes it takes a while for it to turn over by spraying fuel in there . That happened on my bike with a bad fuel pump . Took me forever to get it to start , once it did I knew it was the pump . Even then it took a while to purge the pump , after taking the lines off and on .

Sometimes the injectors get clogged , maybe check the filter . Is the fuel pump working ? Witch one of your trucks is not starting , Renix or the HO ?

Mine stays on if I hook it back up , so I am going to rewire a jake-brake style air horn from the roof of the cab . I'm kinda like the idea of having a semi style horn pull . Makes my truck feel bigger .

Those look good . Do they have a SWB version ?

Leave the nerf stuff to the kids . However an alternative to steel , is the new fiberglass resin parts . Nock it if you want , but I've seen some of that stuff in action . That $#!& is tough ! Also doesn't weigh what the solid steel does , if your interested in keeping your truck light .

wanting to get new exhaust?
DJM/78 replied to conan1977's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Welcome to the site ! If you have not been welcomed yet . There are a couple of good headers and exhaust set ups out there . You want to make sure you have the proper size pipe for that motor . As a daily driver you don't want to loose too much back pressure , for milage reasons . Anyone know the proper size for a blend of performance and consumption ? -
Not the " LAST OF THE MANCHES " 2-92 build project.
DJM/78 replied to DJM/78's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Just revising my thread to be more accurate . My truck is not even close to the last manche . I thought it would be a cool build name though . Just out of respect for all the people on this site . Free shots . -
Nice find ! Guess I'll be changing the name of my build thread after all . I paid 2700 $ for mine , but it had never been wheeled , modified or neglected . All documents shown from Denver dealership , going all the way back to the purchase date . Somehow all shoved in the glove box . :dunno: After pulling it all out , I couldn't get it all back in there , kinda like a old tent bag . :ack:

I guess it depends on what you want out of a TJ , I don't really know what the options where for certain models . I drove a sahara edition and it rode real smooth , nice 4.0 L and good tan leather interior package . Pretty much fully loaded with interior options , but I was not sure on drivetrain specs . I do know the Ruby models are plenty beefy though . I would probably look at one of those if I had my choice . For my wife , she'll probably get one with heated leather no matter the type . For use as a DD . If she wants to , I'll beef it up . Those things are everywhere here in Colorado . All the 4x4 shops have parts and goodies just lying around for those Jeeps . Not like my MJ . :ack:

Someone needs to show him a document , that shows what his truck was worth , then and now ! He could have made a good profit off of that sale , if he doest care about the truck . Go buy some abundant cheap piece of sh@t , take the rest and blow it in Vegas . :fool:

EF' yeah , custom seats I love it ! I was going to do the same thing with my brackets , until I found a way to use 95" XJ floor brackets .

Pontiac is pretty much done for .... :( Avid pontiac fan and one time GTO owner , I am sad to see another American Icon hit the fan . :ack: Although , anyone who has any of those cars better hold on to them , for their sure to go up in value . From a collectors standpoint anyway . I wish I would have never sold my 72 GTO , lemans T370 . :wall:

Thats the difference Jimoshel ! Being smart enough to know when to act dumb . Sometimes it pays off . Besides I never learned anything by trying to be smart !

Project "Eliminator"
DJM/78 replied to 89eliminator's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Nice job ! Been keeping an eye on you ! One of the biggest gains to a heavy front bumper is it keeps those front tires tracking , its like having an extra dude hanging around on your hood . Mine was a big improvement on snow and sheer ice . Get r painted and its 420 time ! :chillin: -
Snatch that damd thing up ! I like those soft 8's . Yes the snorkel does have to come off . :ack: The body looks straight though .
-
The first time you posted those AT's , I could have swore they where BFG AT's . The tread pattern was almost a perfect match .
-
Preferably one that runs . Just messin' . I'm trying to find one for the wife , I like the 4.0 , sport edition and sierra models . Buy one with the hard top that no one messed with , that way it doesn't leak . Most don't , some do .
-
OH" you guys ! :shake: Thats some good sh@t , right there !
-
:agree: With the above . Also the angle of your drive shaft will be too steep without aligning the rear axle .
-
need one? Not anymore , I'm half way through the console conversion now . Thanks though .

What should I do to my eliminator?
DJM/78 replied to Squeegy410's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
IMHO , I am a spare no expense type of guy . I think If your going to put money and work into anything , do it all . It depends on what you want out of your truck , a mild trail lift or an aggressive crawler . Its up to you . I spent about 300.00 on my mild 2" RE lift , it came with the 2" spacers , 3" lift shocks and a add a leaf rear spring set up . Also I got a NEW track bar . That is a must with any truck with 200,000 , DD miles on it . Anything past 2"-3" and it starts getting expensive , to do it right anyway . A mild 2" inch lift will look good with some 31"s . Still be a good DD , you shouldn't have to rob the pizza delivery boy either . :rotf: In my a$$hole opinion , If you don't have the money , wait until you do . You always get what you pay for . I found a D44 for real cheap , bought it and needless to say , now I bought another one . I guess I learn the hard way . :dunce: I pay good money for the best parts brand new and never do it again . I hate doing things two and three times . In the end its not any cheaper . -
So I'm driving around yesterday , getting rid of some loose ends . I stop at a pawn shop to see about selling some things . I don't normally do this but I needed some extra cash to finish my axle . So the guy comes out and says " Cool truck , ya want to sell it " ? I said " hell no " It took me long enough to find this one ! He proceeded to tell me that , those things aren't rare , their a dime a dozen . As he tells me what options my truck came with and what I should have been looking for , like he knows everything about MJ's . He says if you would've bought the Eliminator , You would have got all the options , 4.0 HO , dana 44 , bucket seats , painted plastics ,roll bar , fog lights and a factory slider . As by now I'm starting to get angry , I calm and tell him that the only things mine didn't come with was painted plastics , roll bar and fog lights . Also someone swapped the d44 . Knowing I was wasting my time , I closed with " why don't you have one then " if their so easy to find ? He asked again how much I wanted for it . I smiled and said " you couldn't afford it on pawn shop salary " go rip off some more crack dealers ! As I crank up my tuned EFI 4.0 HO and proceeded to burn the tires off through two gears pulling out of the parking lot . Thats one for the Comanche Nation ! Zero for the pawn shop boy !

I've seen this happen a hundred times over . Working in the body shops back in the 90"s , it was very popular to cut and chop the crap out of the "K" class trucks . Almost every one of them eventually had some sort of problem . I just don't see the rockers being able to handle anything other than light city driving . I could see it being durable , but your going to have to add allot of metal . Like you guys said , it has to be caged . Also a cage won't prevent the body from warping around the cage , just saves your @$$ when it does . Same thing with a buddy of mine , he took his doors off his MJ in the summer . After three months of wheeling , here comes the snow and cold . It took us forever to get the doors to line up . Even now they will never be perfect , without allot more work . He swore he'd never take the doors off again , without putting them right back on . Does not make any sense , because the doors don't save the cab from sagging , but it did . :dunno: I have done this before myself with no problem . However I reinforced the whole cab in steel , cross braces and support beams everywhere I could fit one . To tell you the truth , I thought about doing a duster back on my MJ , but leaving the entire cab in tact and still cage it out , just for good piece of mind . Now that I've put so much in my truck , I'll never do that with this truck . Everyone has their own opinion , but thats what I've seen to be a problem . I have taken doors off and on a hundred times and never had a problem either . I guess its Murphy's law . :dunno:

I give it six months before the doors won't open or latch . What a bright idea .
