:agree: I have a LEER if anyone wants it . Good condition 300.00  However its not just the box dimensions but the height of the box thats the problem . I found about 5 different toppers that fit the box dimension but not the height . Your better off finding a topper company to make a custom top . They will match the body lines and cab line perfectly . A friend of mine has a two door XJ that he converted to a two door convertible , not practical during the winter so he had a custom top made that bolts right on and seals perfectly , looks bad@ss too ...

Looks good ! Way to make something custom . I dig the silver paint ....

That would be too easy .. :rotf: Besides then they can charge allot more money for modified or altered exhausts than they can a noise ordinance . Also some states and local law enforcement can impound your vehicle and make even more money . It works until a state law maker or judge gets a pipe ticket and throws a fit . Thats what happened up here anyway . :rotfl2:

They tried that out here as well a couple of years back , it didn't work because the state spent more money converting all the HD cruiser bikes back to stock from the screaming eagle kits they came with .... Also all the regulations took a huge chunk out of the federal budget . So it wasn't effective at making money and they dropped it .

Need ideas for custom fabricated steel or aluminum parts
DJM/78 replied to terrawombat's topic in The Pub
Be kind of cool to make custom gauge faceplate , slotted or vented aluminum would look nice . Or even just brushed . Armored speaker grill or a custom cup holder would be cool ! -

:agree: Not only that but the rubber in the window tracks get old and worn causing those windows to bounce around . Making a sh@ty rattle sound . Cut it out with a COLD KNIFE . You can pick one up at Harbor Freight or somewhere for about 20 bucks ... Sharpen the blade VERY well and be careful of the headliner , or just take it out first . Pretty easy all and all .. -
SOA or not ? Your opinions ...

:agree: I like the mild rake look , but I'll probably wait until I'm ready for long arms . I'm going to start with a short arm 3.5 " and step up to the 5.5 later . I might go with the 4.5 " for a wile ... Thats the cool thing about replacing the control arms now , they use the same UCA, LCA all the way up to 5" . So I can see what looks and performs best for on off road driving . Also a winter DD . -
Any pics ?

you should be able to put in 5-6" coils or add a 2" puck on to the 3.5" coils and everything else should still work. nope. he'll still need control arms or long arms for that height, a new trackbar, and sway bar links/extensions. what i was saying was he could do the springs or pucks then everything else on his list will still work. Yes , I already have the adjustable control arms . I like that Idea , I can just upgrade later using some of the existing equipment . -

I only added that in there because RE's 5.5" HD kit includes it . I've been racking my brain trying to get my truck set up .... :hmm: Thanks . -

you should be able to put in 5-6" coils or add a 2" puck on to the 3.5" coils and everything else should still work. OK , I already have the 2" RE pucks and the springs are on the way . I would still need drop brackets , Track-arm bracket , RE extreme duty track bar , drop pitman and matching shocks right ? -

What spring size should I use for a 5.5 " front lift ? Or is that still not enough ? -

:huh???: soa gives you 5-6" lift out back. other downside is axle wrap, that would be the only drawback. i haven't heard of many people using antiwrap devises either on these, ladder bar etc.... i'm considering soa in the future, i'm sure thats still an issue on an mj, anyone got any input on that? Yeah the smallest spring set up I found was 1.5" for SOA . I guess I'll have to wait on the 5.5 " lift .... :( -

OK , I didn't know if that would work or not considering the SOA would give you 3.5 by itself . Thanks .. I'm still captain newb here !! -
I am thinking of SOA converting the rear now that my new D44 is finished . The spring mounts are still sprung over from the XJ it came out of . So now would be a good time look at options . My questions , Is SOA worth it and what are the strengths and weaknesses ? What do I need to match a 3.5 " lift in the front ? What other problems will occur and what else should I look at doing . My project ; RE adjustable upper and lower control arms , RE 3.5 " lift springs , RE track bar 3.5 -4.5 " , RE HD tie rod with ends , RE sway bar disconnects or JKS ( haven't decided ) . Also new lift shocks are in order . What do ya' think ?

Looks good with the black ! If it gets chipped up , just re-spray it flat or matt black . That way it always looks good , I did mine back in sept and its still held up . A couple of rock chips though , so I'll re-spray something better it the spring .

:shake: what? they don't teach it in our schools, and if they did it was a brief mention. and please don't disrespect the respect I have for those defending us. They don't teach anything about modern wars , too politicly incorrect !! :D Wars don't keep a good eye in the media , so allot of people run from the responsibilities of having to explain them . Or try and fail because they weren't there . As a matter of fact , I served with a couple Canadian Commando's during cross training , throughout Airborne school it wasn't uncommon to sit at a chow table and have a good conversation with a Canadian Commando , Israeli Spec Ops. and a couple of Army and Marine grunts actually getting along ! What a bunch of cool people who sign up to have their @ss blown off . Glad to have served and known them .

Don't remember High School , I know it was allot of fun . Then .... Funs time's over , all I know is , people started to tell me I had to do allot more things I didn't want to do . Thats all I hear now a days , Honey go do this , go do that ... :rotf: Better get used to it , it never ends . You want to talk about logical ? Get married and all logic goes out the door ...

What happened ? I didn't even read that thread yet !

My explanation to my wife was simple , Honey I'm buying a truck ! Around here 4x4 is a must , it got my wife to the hospital a couple of times during a blizzard and has stayed dependable through the winter season . So now I'm hooked and so is she . Can't go wrong with 4 wheel drive , one of the only things that keeps that back end from coming out on you . Safe , reliable , functional transportation . Doesn't get better than that . As far as the money thing , just go tally up the amount of shoes and clothes in the closet . If she is anything like my wife , there will be thousands of dollars in useless garments and accessories collecting dust . Thats also why I keep the wife , " taken care of " so she can't say anything about my toys . She got a 10,000 k dollar diamond and a 3,000k wedding ring , that I hand made !!! Guess I got some catching up to do !

I usually take the bike except when I make a beer run. Put a new windshield on it last month and it's not too bad. Sweet !! A smily on a Goldwing ! One day I'll own a bike with reverse and navigation . :brows:
