  1. Loosen the bushing bolts on your motor mounts, they are likely too tight. This is the big problem with poly mounts, they transfer a lot more vibration, especially when over tightened. If you want smooth, go with rubber mounts.
  2. You're gonna have a hard time finding an axle that is already 4.10 and fits under the MJ unless it's coming off someone else's build. The easiest axle to obtain would be a C8.25 from a newer XJ, the only modification required is welding on new spring perches in the correct location. Then gear it to 4.10 and stick it under the truck (not sure if these ever came with 4.10s from the factory). It's only slightly weaker than a Dana 44 and still has tons of aftermarket support. Doing this you also have the option to do a disk brake conversion using parts from a Jeep Liberty KJ. Those have a C8.25 under them with disks that swap directly to the XJ one.
  3. That's an absolute steal! Good find! Will be watching this build and love the petina on the swb.
  4. LOL all your neighbors are inside thinking, what is this jack a$$ doing now... On the other hand, it did clear the road pretty good.
  5. It's earned its keep a few times now but today it hauled home some wood and my new to me engine stand. The stand is folded under the wood. Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
  6. No this was the first stop of the day, they were the only two on the bus! Hence my confusion. It said there COULD have been upwards of 20 students on board (they worded that terribly). In another article they showed a picture of the two, neither looked to have any mobility issues, he was an active church member and city council member and she was a weightlifter. Either way, I would think that at least one of them would have made it off.
  7. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/oakland-bus-fire-iowa-school-bus-fire-kills-people/ It's worded poorly in the report, they were the only two people on the bus, it was the first stop of the day.. This is extremely sad and I'm glad there was nobody else on the bus. I'm so confused how the bus could have gone up in flames so fast that the driver and student couldn't escape. The "crash" was obviously at a very low speed and I can't imagine would injure or knock out the two. Something seems super weird about this, how does a school bus go up so quick that there is no escape? The only thing I could think of is one or the other being in shock and the other trying to get them off but not making it out in time. Even this doesn't seem very likely to me. Any ideas?
  8. Not a direct drop in.. You can take carpet from any xj and put it in the Comanche but you'll have to cut the back end off of it, cut/elongate some holes for seat mounting and other stuff, as well as add or remove padding under the carpet in some spots to make up for the difference in the floor pans and reinforcements. It's a lot of work but can be done.
  9. I never understood this line... Is it referring to memories of the travels?
  10. Wow, someone else who knows Firefly? I have a buddy at work who absolutely loves that show. Obviously I had to try myself and I didn't think it was too bad, surprised it didn't last. Ive seen your Jimmy so many times and I'm surprised it took me this long to figure out where the name came from.. The drivers side doors gave it away. Been a fan for years!
  11. I'd agree with the above. I had a friend back her Camry into those bumpouts on my 98 XJ bumper and it did nothing to it but destroyed her trunk. They definitely offer protection.
  12. Very few flurries here in central Iowa as well. I am torn, I want snow to play in but at the same time, it's nice not having to deal with it. I hope it snows a decent amount late on Christmas eve into Christmas, then melts and be back to 70* by Jan 1st. I'll keep dreaming...
  13. And been posted and discussed here about 5 different times now.... We don't mean any offense to the OP for posting (obviously you didn't see the other threads) but it had gotten old by the third time it was posted.
  14. I would think you could make a full window work in an early vent/fixed vent door but you have to swap the regulator and window tracks over to the old door along with the newer lower seal. You would need to mount the guts inside the door somehow and may need to cut some but I'm sure it's doable.
  15. I don't really name my vehicles but my super rusty 95 XJ that I picked up for $800. It was "piece of $h1t" for awhile, then was just "POS". When the serpentine belt started squeaking I called it "squeaky" or "old squeaky" and started to love the damn thing. After replacing the belt because it failed catastrophicly, it is now "POS work Jeep". The name fits it but I have grown to love the damn thing but still will only fix it if something breaks and duct tape or zip ties don't fix it (waterpump gasket is a manilla folder). Ironically it is the crapiest Jeep I own, but is the most reliable..
  16. The truck hasn't really left the shed in about a month and today I decided to bring it out to fill the tires up and to run the engine. Started up just fine and only needed about 10 psi in each tire. I did discover some antifreeze dripping from behind the bumper and upon closer inspection noticed the upper rad hose was leaking. Not a really bad leak but it is enough I don't want to drive it until it's fixed. When spring rolls around I will throw some new hoses in it. The hood latches are sticking pretty bad as well. It took a ton of force to get the hood to pop. Next time I go down there I will bring some WD-40 and see if I can't get it freed up. I can't wait for spring so I can get this thing torn apart and more work done! Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
  17. Do as Pete said and glue some thin piping along the edge to cover the seam?
  18. Agree with the above. Get an estimate yourself and fight the price. Get that frame checked for sure. If the frame is straight and the only damage truly is the bumper and hitch, the $1000 would be enough. But if the frame is tweaked, you'll need more to pay for that and it will probably have to have a salvage title. Either way I'd recommend getting as much as you possibly can without having it retitled as salvage.
  19. it sucks he cut apart such a clean MJ but holy freaking cow is that thing awesome!!
  20. Awesome, thanks!
  21. Wow I've never seen a "chrome" paint that would come out that nice. I'm super surprised you can't see the brush strokes. Any idea what the name of that product is? My uncle's Camaro bumper is in need of new chrome and this would be perfect.
  22. If you can't find one in good shape you can get some of that chrome sheeting from the autoparts store to fix a peeling one. Good luck on the hunt!
  23. Ah I figured that after posting. Sorry I don't have those plugs.
  24. Is this the harness your talking about? The gray and black plug on the far right? Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
  25. Yeah this is pretty sweet. I have actually done the math behind this. Anyone can have their very own 69' Vic Charger for around $10K!!! Attached you'll find a picture of my spreadsheet and an ODS file of the spreadsheet itself for links. I spent a few days on this and this is the absolute cheapest way you can buy all the panels brand new. Auto Metal Direct makes pretty much everything but Carid is consistently cheaper on all the parts. Buying everything through AMD runs closer to $13k. 69 Charger Cheapest.ods
