  1. yeah, 2 pieces of bent steel joined by 2 bolts are waaay too complicated for anyone to build...
  2. 2 mounts, 2 shackles the rear look easy, the front may take some thinking, it only needs to clear 3/4 inch each side... maybe less if you tuck the leaves all the way in
  3. which is the best upgrade in the strenght departament?
  4. power mirrors on a comanche? i would like that...
  5. they gonna have to fit below the original mount, at least enough to clear fit the spring end
  6. to each his own offset mounts/shacles are more plug n play friendly and you can easily undo them, or move them to a diferent truck, you can go SOA without messing with the axle... but to each his own...
  7. well, same goes for the front, offset shacles/mounts are easier to build that perches arent they?
  8. the TCU is powering the solenoids as it should, i would test the speed sensor before tossing away a perfectly good TCU, electronics usually fail entirely, a TCU powering up, enabling the solenoids but NOT shifting makes little to no sense, i know electronics, trust me, sounds more like a bad speed sensor or a TPS stuck on WOT
  9. custom shacles can take of that can't they? the offset is not that bad
  10. any plans to reinforce the doors hinges? that´s another weak spot in the MJ/XJ, not enough material to hold the doors
  11. don't hit it hard you could damage the bearing, soak it with some penetrating oil and see if it loosens
  12. it depends on how good you are at modding/fabbing most of the time the people against such things only do bolt-in jobs, or minimal modding required jobs... are you going to use an XJ tank justo to stay all-jeep? you can put it in the back of the bed where the spare is, it fits but you need to figure out how strap it there
  13. also take a long wire and screw in as many grounds you can along the frame, get rid of electric gremlins in one go
  14. i understand how the AW4 works, using only the data the OP provides * 1st gear work but won't shift to second* we can interpret it in diferent ways - we assume he is putting the lever in OD, so the TCU is correctly powering the solenoid AND fluid is going where it should but not getting the speed signal to shift to 2nd - the transmission IS shifting to 2nd but is not engaging, the OP doesnt say this - maybe he thinks it´s on 1st gear because it moves but it may actually be stuck on OD - something is wrong with the TPS that sends WOT to the TCU so it nevers shifts out of 1st it´s not shifting into 2nd we he can't manually test 2nd gear by disabling the TCU since 2nd gear requires both solenoids on, unless he finds a way to feed 12v to botch solenoids to test 2nd gear we can't pin point the issue
  15. he says it goes into first and reverse, he doesnt specify if the shifter is in OD or 1-2, we need to know if it can shift into 2nd and you can't select 2nd manually we need more info
  16. how could you get fuel and spark WITHOUT the CPS? whatever.-..
  17. bad booster or vacuum leak, if turns out to be a bad booster replace it with a newer WJ dual diaphragm in the mean time try to not drive the MJ like that, you gonna kill someone/yourself, MJs don't have the greatest brakes i could only imagine driving it without the vacuum assist
  18. without tcm shouldnt default to OD? the fact that reverse and OD work means you may have a problem with the speed sensor
  19. mine has one
  20. with some work they fit, and look nice too, not the best option but at least you won't get fined again
  21. you may have a bad fanclutch, do you have the aux efan already?
  22. before power steering most people couldnt do it, required a lot of upper body strenght... but is soemwhat inevitable when for instance, you are getting in or out a tight parking space
  23. how much of a turn it takes to feel that the wheels are turning? you have some loose components but lower arms? sounds like BS...
