Sunday my little bro from Denver dropped by. The normal BS, A couple beers, braggin about his new GF, etc, etc. We run down to Colorado City for a hamburger an fries.Dumb me took the MJ. He liked, He wanted. I said no. He insisted. I was adament, NO! He casually mentioned a favor he did for me and I never repaid. The little Bas,,,,,,, er,,,,sorry mom. He now owns a cherry 89 MJ and I'm mourning my loss. I know where there's a Brown '88, flat tire, dent in right front fender. Lady owner doesn't want to sell. Maybe the next time I go to see it, a box of chocolates. some carefully selected French phrases softly whispered in her ear, Who knows? Gad. What a avid Jeeper will do for the cause. Jim

Which diesel? Cummins 465V?Renault 4CV?. I've been looking for a diesel to drop in my J20 so I like the idea. Tryin to remember, which for me is getting harder to do, But awhile back Ford was making Diesel's for auxillary power use, welders, generators, etc, Might be something to check outAnd as much as I hate to admit it th e Japanese have some dandy diesel's should work.

OK.As long as you got the idea of what we're trying to do. I don't have a panel out now so I can't see whats what. Sometimes the guages are soldered in, sometimes bolted. Take a good look at it. Maybe you can just unsolder something and not have to cut the foil. Another option, altho kinda corny, remove the guage, rotate it 180 degrees, turn it upside down, re install. Now the polarity is right but it's upside down. Jim
-
No. Your just reversing the polarity. Follow me, For explanation lets say there is a cunductor entering the guage from the PC on the right. Then say we have a conductor from the PC board entering the guage from the left. Cut both foils so they can't conduct. Now solder a wire from the right PC conductor to the left side of the guage. Solder another wire from the left PC conductor to the right side of the guage. You've just reversed polarity. Who said a picture is worth a thousand words?

Start and run the engine 10-15 seconds. shut it off. pull the no 6 plug. See if the tip is wet. If it's wet your getting fuel but it's not firing. If it's dry your not getting fuel. If you have a VOM or test light pull the injector plug. Check for voltage. It will be a pulsating voltage depending on RPM. Or swap injectors. Another way. Start the engine. Pull the plug on the injector. Be careful for the C clip. They love to fly off, never to be seen again. Listen to the engine. if it slows down that is a good injector. If nothing changes it is a bad injector, or it's not getting a signal.

If you mean seperate the drive shaft from the sliding yoke, just yank real hard.

Hey guy. I can send ya Jeep parts but I can't body parts. Take care of yerself. Jim
-
Unfortunatly just because somethings new doesn't mean it's good. I don't know how many times I've taken a shiney new item out of the box, put it on and it didn't work. Then the biggest mistake to make is to start swapping parts. Waste of time and money.I can't think of a think in the electrical system* that can't be checked and verified as to good or bad with a good VOM. You'l need a spec sheet or manual to get the proper readings but if you're going to be doing any work on your Jeep at all, you should have one anyway. *Computers, ECU'S excepted.

On the gas gauge. Why can't you just open the foil on the PC to the guage. Then solder 2 wires across it? Thus reversing polarity.

I've only done 2 4.0 swaps. However I have done 400 Pontiac into Jeep and International. Cadillac into Jeep, Ford, Corvair, an a couple others, Ford into Jeep, Scout, Buick into Corvair, Jeep, Scout,ETC, Get the pic? The idea's the same. Don't get rid of the donor untill the jobs done.

how do i install a speedy sleeve
jimoshel replied to comanche13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A sleeve should only be used if there is a groove worn in the harmonic balancer. No groove, no sleeve. Replace the seal. The seal should be replaced worn groove or not. I have used them and they do work. -
Having done this a couple dozen times, I suggest you keep the donor until finished. Almost always just as your finishing you discover your missing something. FF32. If your gas guage is reading backwards you got something hooked up wrong, It should read the same.

I think my decision to get the UHaul was partially influenced by the "Tail Light Frenzy" fiasco going on , on EBay. Right now I have 3 Receivers laying behind a '88 LB That I am trying to figure out the best way to make one fit.Two of them are the 2" and one is the 1-1/4". Of the two, one off a waggy and the other is off a Chevy/GMC. The 12/4 is from UHaul but I don't know what it's for. In looking at them and holding them up to the jeep frame I believe I can cut the ends off the Chevy, weld a 3/8" plate on there , drill 3 holes in it and have a 2" rcvr on my MJ, I wud have known for sure tonite except the wind was blowing like crazy and it was just to dern cold and miserable so I quit.

2" Trailer hitch reciever from Uhaul
jimoshel replied to CRF136N's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
UHaul still has some. Just ordered one. $209.95 Free Shipping -
There's a $200 difference between $150 and $350. You don't have a accomplice bidding on your item jacking the price up. So no, your not a scam artist. Yes it is a supply and demand market but sometimes that market can be manipulated.

Dorman is an American Co. Like so many others that have been driven out of the country by high labor costs and government regulations and civil lawsuits they had to find a cheaper place to establish a plant or just shut their doors. The hdqtrs remains in America. The manufacturing plant is in Taiwan, China or where ever. I deliberately make it a point to buy American, even if it means paying a little more. However it is just getting impossible to do in some cases anymore.

The only people who wud pay over $50 for a set of MJ tail lights is someone who's pockets are as deep as their ego is swollen. They're going to cop first prize at the car show no matter the cost. Personally I believe these prices are being created by a couple scam artists trying to create a overpriced market for their goods.

I have several MJ'S and XJ"S running the 'standard issue' rims. If I wanted them to look pretty I'd clean and paint 'em. And if I wanted chrome wheels I'd go the extra bucks and get the rims. Not the cover. Ain't putting them down, There just not for me.

That looks almost like a '64 Gladiator I had 25-30 years ago, except for the rust. If it were closer it'd be in my yard right now. :grrrr:

At my ripe ole age I 'occasionaly have a problem ;down there' when called upon for a little action. Not wanting to insert chemicals in my bod I rejected the use of Viagra, Cialis or whatever all is out there.Thinking about that horse figured, hey why not, At least try it. Down to the feed shed. Charger off the wall , a couple feet of wire, a probe, Alligator clamp and back to the bedroom.Hook the charger into the wall outlet. Switch under the pillow, Clamp on my left foot big toe, Probe up my ,,er,, you know where, I'm ready. Sweety gets in bed, we start foolin around, I get in the saddle, reach under the pillow and flip the switch. (Censored) It may work on a horse but I strongly advise against it for human use. Now if could just find my other testicle the doc says he may be able to re attach it.

Mention it, definately, and make a big show with grunts of pain getting off the chair.
