  1. Did you take it back to the mechanic and at least let him take a look at it? It just might have been something beyond his control. Or if it was something he did, or didn't do, give him a chance to make it right. If he doesn't, THEN you have a right to blast him. Former mechanic, repair shop owner who got out of the business because of unreasonable customers.
  2. They are OEM chrysler-Jeep. Has the 'Jeep' on the center of the wheel and Chrysler logo and part No on the inside of the rim. After breaking the center I tried turning and spinning the wheel at all positions. There was plenty of clearance all around, LCA, Fender, every thing. They fit on the XJ perfectly.
  3. 74, going on 75, and the only thing wrong with me is, uh,,er,,hmmm, I forgot. Three elderly gentlemen, old farts, were sitting on the front porch of the retirement home discussing their ailments. first says " I have trouble peeing. Sometimes I stand there for 30 minutes trying to relieve myself." Says the second, "I have trouble taking a dump. My bowels are so uptight I'll sit on the stool 2 hours trying to dump" The third " I don't have those problems. Every morn prompt at 6:30 I take a good healthy dump. Promptly at 7 I pee. Completely empty the bowels and bladder. Now if I would just start waking up before 8AM"
  4. I'm a firm believer in 'Try it an see' The absolute worse that can happen is you break something. And sometimes it works.
  5. Replace it with a D44 or Chrysler 8:35 or whatever that Chrysler unit is. I thot Metric's came with D44.

    Linux Mint?

I like SUSE. Also used OS2 Still think dumb blue missed the boat by not making it more for the general public and giving Bill a little competetion.
  7. Today I did what I should have in the first place. Tried it. Parked the donor a rolled, totaled 4WD XJ beside the donee, a 1988 MJ 2WD. Jacked up left hand side of both cars, removed all 4 tires rolled one of the shiny new tires, 31X10.50R15 with the molding pips still showing, to the front of the MJ. Pick up tire and try to place on hub. How in the %*#@*^&% are you supposed to mount these %#*% things when you can't see the lugs? Played, wiggled, cussed, finally got it started. Lug nuts, impact wrench. Now why are they going on so hard? MJ and XJ have same hubs. Just give it another twist. Center cap pops out, only it ain't a cap. It's the center of the rim with jagged edges. Bearing cover on axle showing thru hole in wheel. This don't look good. Remove lug nuts, remove wheel. Surprisinly it came right off. Thought sure it would be jammed on. Observation. The rotor face on the 4WD is flat. Rotor face on 2WD has a hub sticking out about 2 inches. Check wheel. It's a OEM Chrysler, with the Penta something logo and 31.75 15X7J stamping. And a new hole in the center. Put all tires back where they come from. Remove jacks. Go in house and play games on puter. For sale 4 new 31 10.50R15 tires mounted on OEM Chrysler rims $100 Jim :wall: :headpop:

  9. I've got a 3:07 Dana 35, High mileage, leaking oil seals, bent 6in out from the carrier housing, No backing plates, left axle missing, right axle bent same place as tube. Asking $500 OBO.
  10. What's a 'Darren'? What's a 'Diablo Samich'?
  11. If all you want is right hand drive get a USPS for half that price.
  12. Spock stopped up the drain? :rotf:
  13. The thing that really bugs me about this is that I'm not entirely computer illiterate. I went to puter maintenance schools courtesy USAF back in 1962. The computer was in a blockhouse occupying an entire city block 3 stories high. The power supply was in the basement, offices, maintenance was first floor storage (memory) was second floor and processing was third floor. After getting out in 65 I went to work as a tech rep to the AF teaching puter maint.I've worked at the missile test site, target site, at Kwajelien, M.I.. as a puter maint tech.I've seen the behometh monster shrink down to a IPod size with a hundred times the memory and speed. So darn it I get frustrated when I can't get something to work. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
  14. Correy, Not mentioning any names but if someone needs any '01 cruise stuff :D altho with shipping might be cheaper to find something closer to home. Or use a sking trip as an excuse and come get it.
  15. If my memory serves me right that looks like the parking lot at the gift shop at Garden Of The Gods. And on the fender, looks good. Just needs a banana up the tail pipe. Who used a banana anyway? I always used a tater. On the fender cutting, I'm not doing any off roading with it. Just 2 miles of rough, rutted, unmaintained private road from the county gravel to the house.

  19. You have all seen some of my previous posts and sig. Good pics. You can see my current sig. Garbage. I can post a good pic and then do the very same thing a minute later and junk. I use PBucket. Also I tried to use the chat room. It says I'm signed in. Others have said they saw me enter. But there is no dialogue box where I can see what others are saying or where I can type in. I'm being prejudiced against. Gonna go eat a worm. Jim
  20. Which one of us were you talking to? If me the stuff has been stored in .50cal ammo cans since I got it. I'm still reloading Win MDL 71 .348 220 and 280 grain bullets and Colt .45ACP 220's with it. Also Ruger .41 Mag.
  21. Actually something so obvious completely escaped me until a minute ago. XJ fenders, front, are a dime a dozen. They can be cut and or replaced with MJ. Just don't cut the back ones. Sometimes I just get so far in the forest I can't see the trees anymore.
  22. Back in 1963 Me, my father in law and my buddy went 3 ways on a 25# keg of 4831. I've still got a .50cal ammo can of it.
  23. Like I said earlier, I ain't cuttin no rust free mj. If I decide to go all out on a rock crawler, I will get a rusty MJ (now where do you suppose I cud find one of them at?) or use one of the dozen XJ'S and/or S10'S I got sitten around. I didn't get the 31's mounted today like I wanted. Spent most of the day at the hospital with a friend. They finally decided she had a upper respiratory virus infection. Anyway that's the second thing on the agenda for in the AM. Feedin the animals is always first. Jim
  24. The Army works in the boonies. They select them tires for cross country traveling. Since they can't stop and change tires for every situation they have to compromise and get one that works best for their needs.
  25. For what it's worth, the standard tire on military Jeeps, MB, GPW, M38 & M38A1 was 6.00X16 4ply. On the weapon carriers, 3/4 ton it was 7.00X17 8ply. There were variations to this but like I said. The standard issue.
