Hissing noise at booster inside truck
jimoshel replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Heard a hissing sound while working on my MJ one day. Killed the rattlesnake and the hissing quit. Ever try stomping a rattler to death while your barefooted? -
No rear parking lights and only one turn signal?
jimoshel replied to NLargen90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's a toss up between bad ground or trailer wiring. Remove the left rear tail light. There's a self tapping screw grounding a wire, can't remember if it's one or two wires. Make sure it's clean. Look underneath for signs there was a trailer wiring hooked up. If so, remove all traces of the old wiring and inspect what's left for open or grounds. I like a product called liquid electrical tape, for covering worn insulation. Take a test light and check at the sockets for voltage. Also look for corrosion around the sockets. If they're really bad, replace them. -
I think we all do after about 8-12 beers. Especially if they're home  brewed ones?

Think your writing to the wrong forum. Should be writing Ann Landers. However a few words of advice. Keep it in your pants. OK. That was a waste of breath. Don't use your real name. Don't believe anything they tell you. Get medical proof. And another reason why men shouldn't write personal advice columns. Dear John, I hope you can help me.The other day I set off for work, leaving my husband in the house watching TV. My car stalled, and then it broke down about a mile down the road , and I had to walk back to get my husbands help. When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor's daughter. I am 32, My husband is 34 and the neighbor's daughter is 19. We have been married for 10 years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted they had been having an affair for the last 6 months. He won't go into counseling and I'm afraid I am a wreck and need advice urgently. Can you please help? Sincerely, Sheila Dear Sheila A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum lines hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty causing low delivery pressure to the injectors. I hope this helps. John Copied from the net

Cleaned the puter with every tool I had at my disposal and down loaded FF again. I was a little annoyed at having to find and reload all my favorites, Craigs List, Comanche Club. Las Vegas Art sites etc, etc. after getting it set up and running it does seem to be a improvement. Loads much faster.

All that? And not even a pic?

Looks like to me the guy was considerate enough to build a cow catcher to keep pedestrians from out from under his Jeep when he ran over them. :D

On the 2 strap set up, absolutely, use the block and jack. But I really don't think it's needed on the 3 strap set up.

When I went to bed last nite, Fire Fox and any trace or hint of Fire Fox was completely deleted from my puter. When i turned the puter on this morn not only was Fire Fox back but so was my task bar as well as 8 toolbars, some of them for programs I have never even heard of before. My bookmarks were also back. Needless to say I am deleting Fire Fox again and maybe it will stay gone this time. :hateputers:

There is no need to drop the tank. Just replace the strap.

After 4 tries I finally got a restore point that worked. After playing with it for a while, finally got a task bar. Still don't have any tool bars or any of the menus that goes with it. I had FireFox 3.2 something. Just hit the download for the 4.0 upgrade. The only way I'm getting anything is by using desk top icons. Just finished totally deleting firefox from the puter and useing IE 9. I'm disgusted, and frustrated. :fs1:

I give up. I've been most of the day just trying to restore a taskbar, and or a toolbar. Nothing. Going to see if I can find a restore point for yesterday and go back to what I had.

I just finished upgrading 30-40 minutes ago. Wiped out all my bookmarks and most used menus. Still trying to get my most used sites back. Other wise seems like it may be OK.

question about spare tire tool/jack handle
jimoshel replied to jteckmann's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The tool from a 2005 Dodge 1500 works. I would assume many of the tools from Dodges with similier spare tire set up would work. The tire winch is not a precision instrument and almost anything with a chisel point will work. I've also used a 3/8 drive ext. -
Help Identifying leaf springs

they look like they're stock to me. -
That's where you take a center punch and put a series of dimples around the edge of a hole, circle to tighten it by slightly expanding the metal.

rear axle bearing race help
jimoshel replied to comanche12's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Book says drill 2 holes on opposite sides and break it with a chisel. I don't know where the book got a bit that would drill that hardened steel but I didn't have one would even scratch it. I used a cutting torch with the smallest tip I had available and cut it. By being careful there was no damage to the housing. -
I feel 15-40 is a bit heavy for these engines, especially in the winter. I watch the OP gauge and use a wt that will give me 5 to 10 lbs at idle and 30 to 60 at highway speeds. Oil change at 3,000 to 5,000 miles for city, dirty, severe driving, 10K for highway duty. I probably run 10-30 on a tight engine and 10-40 on a loose one. Most of the time.

I'm talking with a fella about his '91 YJ. Gonna take a look at it tomorrow. Not being familiar with the YJ, I'm looking for any advice, suggestions on them. Has the 2.5 engine, standard trans. don't know which one yet. $900. :dunno:

I have everything from a '97 ZJ. I don't know if it is the same as a XJ or not. If you know or if someone knows for sure and pipe up. $10 plus shipping.

What say you Elite Fleet of Comanche's to Beat? (MJOTM)
jimoshel replied to Automan2164's topic in The Pub
I talked to the DMV about getting personalized plates reading MJ-1 thru MJ-15 for my collection. Upon hearing the price I promptly forgot about it. I liked the first decal best. -
Back in 1971 My neighbor had one of them things. I put a CJ5 4wd drive train under it and a Ford 289 engine. He went fishing every week end with it. When I moved in 1989 he was still driving it. Wouldn't mind getting one but 600 miles is a bit far.

August 1986? I remember that day. I was opening a bank account so I could cash my first SS check. :D Young'ins
